such cool dudes, it's amazing what they have been through.
It's really sad to see Bill Ward isn't in this, he was one of the most massively powerful drummers of all time and integral to the style of black sabbath with his heavy swing style. It's also seems to be almost kind of a miracle he didn't die in his heavy drinking days. So many great drummers have suffered from drinking, Keith Moon, Bonzo, Bill Ward, etc. It's sad but it also sets an example to me at least.
I have played guitar for a long time. While really have liked and admired Tony Iommi since their first album, Black Sabbath is Geezer Butler. What a Bass player that man is.
Ditto. In all honesty I quit playing guitar for a while (a stupid choice) and what got me back into music was Geezer's bass-work. The bass was my primary weapon for a while, then I went back to guitar after I started listening to Nirvana.

I saw these guys last night and they ROCKED the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT! Tony looked and sounded better than ever and he was right in front of me!! Geezer was awesome and Ozzy was amazing. Tony Clufetos killed it on the drums! I am so very grateful I got to see these guys in action last night!
yeah I have a real job too I work in a paper mill 7 days a week swing shift but music and my family help keep me sane

I have a "real job" and it sucks. I, like most people, am a slave to my job. I don't hate it, but I'm not passionate about it as Sabbath is to their music. God bless anyone who can make a living doing something they love. They never work a day in their lives.

you know what makes me laugh? when people say Black Sabbath don't count as metal just because modern bands like disturbed and 5fdp are louder and a bit harder. like wth. sabbath's lyrics are darker than most of those bands and their sound is still harder and heavier than every genre of modern rock other than modern metal and modern hardcore punk. it's still very headbangable

Yes, I was moved by his profundity as well. I can feel the 45 years of experience coming out of his coherent, intelligible and deeply philosophical analysis of the Bill Ward situation. My IQ just went up 3 points for having listened to it.

It's called "having abused vast amounts of drugs and alcohol for 35 years". That's why he mumbles at times. His speech center from his left hemisphere of his brain is kinda affected after 3 decades of hardcore drug and alcohol addiction. Besides, he is from Birmigham, which is located in a part of England in which the English language sounds kinda weird. Put these two facts together and you'll understand. So let the shit with "nobody understands what Ozzy says" die. It's a legendary cliche.

Sabbath invented Metal, that's true as far as it goes. Their second coming with Dio, on Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules is where it all comes together though. Those albums, with Priest and Maiden, and the NWBHM bands. I love Paranoid and Sweet Leaf, Iron Man, all that, and a lot of subgenres like Thrash and Sludge metal seem like they drive from certain songs, or styles of songs on those first albums, but of all my Sabbath albums, I play those the least. The later albums, the ones after "Born Again" have lost something, even the Dio redux, though this last one, something clicked there from the old days, that seems to be the case. Ironic -- the song God Is Dead? is not what might be thought. People forget there's a question mark at the end of the title, and the lyric "I don't believe that ..."
Sabbath refined and popularized heavy metal and invented Doom Metal yeah but they didn't "invent" metal.

It's not that he was a "freak singer" you inbred dickwad, it's the fact that Ozzy was constantly drugged out of his mind and had the work ethic of a fucking ADHD child. I love Ozzy and his work with the band but he was a shitty band mate, and that's a fact. And to say they "sucked" with Dio just goes to show how utterly tone deaf you are, and how you're only attracted to the cult of personality that is Osbourne. There's a reason albums like HaH are such highly successful albums.
The one who dislikes is Jimmy Page. Sorry, Led Zeppelin lost. No band can "stay awake" like Black Sabbath.
