- UPDATE, This did fix our stalling issue!
In this video, we attempt to solve a stalling issue on Mat's SC300 by bypassing the fuel pump ecu, examining the engine ecu, and messing with the idle air control valve (IACV). Matias is relatively new to working on cars and we wanted to document the process so new car enthusiasts can learn along side him.

matt reminds me of myself, not only because we got the same name but i also wanted an sc300 but due to the age of the car & knowing nothing at all about cars or having friends to sorta help me learn, i didn’t get one but hope he learns & enjoys the car. nice of dylan to helping him & telling him what to do!
The multiverse is real
Mat is my favorite Aimless member
Same
You twinks made a good tutorial, gonna do this on my car
Oh word I got the same color sc 🥶
What is the suspension set up and the wheels?
So i did this same thing but jumped the wires by cutting them and soldered them together and then plugged the connector back into the fuel pump ecu. My main ecu got fried, could this be because I plugged the connector back in instead of leaving it out like in this video? Thank you for any help, this car is making me pull my hair out
That’s super strange because I’ve heard of people plugging it back in and it didn’t do that. To be honest I’m not sure what could have happened but I think something else might have went wrong. Sorry for what happened to you and the lack of help :(
Did u guys ever have issues when flooring it? Mine seems to have a slight stutter every minute or so at idle, it cranks for a long time before starting and when i floor it and the car downshifts it doesnt want to rev past 3k..
We didn’t have any of those issues :/
@AimlessJP hmm okay thanks for the reply. I can cross this off the list then
@CVBFonzp7B I am having the exact some problem please see this comment and let me know if you’ve resolved your issue
Wire neutral saftey to a switch
He likes the fact that you can start it without pressing the clutch in even tho he doesn’t check to see if it’s in gear :)
that ecu literally says A/T right on it if it was a manual ecu it would say M/T. i have a 93 factory auto swapped to a 5 speed and i swapped ecu over to a manual one and it says M/T, automatic one say A/T
When all you have is a auto harness and ecu , you bypass the Nuetral safety switch and you’re up and running
have the same issue with my 97 sc400, after doing the bypass, i still have the issue lol
Sucks with preOBD2 cars to find little issues like this cause you can’t just scan them with a normal OBD2 scanner. This thankfully did fix it for us but it could honestly be so many things like a vacuum leak, sensors etc. I do believe there is a way to use a obd1 Toyota scanner to scan it if you can get access to that!
@@AimlessJP yeah its a pain the ass, but thing is with the issues we are both having its throwing no codes :( but what did u guys do to fix it? i have tried many option and i ran out if them so any input would be helpful!
@@AimlessJP oh wait the bypass fixed it? i thought in the video you guys said it didnt work
We thought it didn’t because it stalled after we did the bypass when we turned the AC on but it never did it again so we think it’s actually fixed and he’s driven it for months now without it stalling. Might have just been that the ecu needed to relearn the first time after the bypass or maybe its because the battery was disconnected. Not sure but it did fix the issue :/
@@AimlessJP oh nice im glad he got his working good as new! welp thanks for the info, i planned on going back into troubleshooting this i will try and retrace some steps with how you guys troubleshooted as well. I appreciate the fast replies!
