I like this guys attitude. Sincere and humble. Good video
Thank you. What you see is what you get with me. I try not to put on a front.
Thanks for giving some life back to the Jon boat. Real American ingenuity. Time to fish bro.
Heck yeah.
Great video Spicey... You did some quality repairs there that should last you a good long time ! I am glad you'll be on the water soon my friend... Congratulations ! Happy for ya brother !
Oh yeah it’s going good and will be ready to hit the water really soon.
I coated the bottom of my boat with roll on bedliner. Found out that if you don't prep the aluminum just right all over where you apply the coating...it will scrape off very easily. We used sandpaper to cross hatch the metal but appearently missed a few spots and the coating came off.
Yeah I might skip that part.
@@BackwoodsRaised I personally would not do it again. We spent an entire day prepping for it and still wasnt good enough.
Good instructional video ... I like the color that you picked. Won't be long, you will be slaying some for a fish fry!
I can’t wait ether.
I enjoy your videos brother, keep em going! 👍
Im.fixing to get back to posting videos for sure
Ready to see that rig in the water!!
It almost done. I don’t know why I wanted to paint the boat two different colors. This has turned into more work than fun hahaha
Great video, I'm gonna try it on mine tomorrow for sure
Just to let you know my buddy has the boat now. I called him today and there is still no leaks in the boat.
Looking good hun! You can buy a trigger for those spray cans which might be a little easier on your wrist! Look forward to seeing it all finished. Luv ya!
Yeah I had one and can’t find where we put it. I know right now my forearms are sore. I’m about done with it now.
Got some rivets on an old 14 foot boat was wondering what to to. Good video
I just fixed another boat a different way. I think I like the JB weld better
The last riveted jon boat I had ended up being more JB Weld than aluminum. I had a big JB Weld decal made and stuck it on the side like they were a sponsor of mine!
I like it.
You could consider just masking off the area around your problem to help reduce the amount of clean afterwards.
Good job!
that's gonna work way better than duct tape
Yeah it just might
I used Jb weld on my old boat works great
Yeah I think this will be just fine.
that's good paint spicy.i used it on my shotgun and has held up amazingly
Awesome
That looks like OD Green to me Spicy, looks like it is gonna turn out very nice. :) Cerakote is slightly darker I think, but that is due to the chemical structure of their paint I think. Looking good.
After it dried it looked better. But I don’t know why I decided to paint two colors. I should have just painted one color lol
Had to resubscribe to ring your bell. Its how to in my eyes lol.
Yeah I guess it is lol.
Dont tell Red Green that.
I had a nice size hole in my alumacraft boat..It was right at the v nose where it gets the most abuse and I used a 2 part epoxy made by permatex..This stuff is good bud I gave busted 3 to 4 inches of ice to duck hunt with it and it has lasted over 12 years...good stuff and highly recommend the permatex if you need to repair again..It comes in like a syringe 2 part...This hole was damn near 1/2 inch...Another good option is drill a hole and rivit the leak..
I also put the boat in tbe water 30 to 45 min later,,,good stuff..
I will look that stuff up.
Great Job on the repairs,, would you happen to know any electricians who could get you a length or 2 of 1" IMC conduit ( ALUMINUM) to make sacrificial ribs for front of boat.. then if you have a friend who welds aluminum you can place the conduit next to the ribs and they would take the beating not the boat bottom.. Just food for thought. Thanks for sharing your project
Oh yeah good idea
I wonder if Automotive silicon will work?
How have you found the JB weld holding up? has been 2 years since you posted this video.
SQUEEZE FROM THE BOTTOM!!!!!!!!!
Im thinking that after the j b weld sets and cures that before sealing the bottom recheck for any leaks to see if it needs anymore j b weld. Anywho,Its coming along great man and I know it will be on the water soon. :)
Yeah I might do that.
I got 150 dollor 14 ft got small crack I'm going jb weld and some rivets if it got leak love videos link me to alot your videos of this boat
damn dude not one dislike... thats great, great video thanks
Yeah I know. I for sure thought I was going to get a few haters on this on lol.
Hey bro I got an rc plastic boat I drilled a hole in the bottom of the boat for a water pickup but the pick up was throwing the boat in that direction I want to remove the water pickup and fill in the hole with jbweld and then put some cardboard on the outside to make it as flat as possible for the filling in and then once it has hardened I will sand it flat with some sand paper my question is will the jbweld be best for the hole to make a hard surface again and will the jbweld not soak up any water over time???
I dont see why JB weld wouldn't work. I have filled in holes and cracks both and never had any problems. If you dont feel comfortable about it I think resin would work great for a rc boat but not a big aluminum boat.
Ya I think what I will do is use jbweld and then after it hardens and sanded down I will put some ca glue/crazy glue over th outside so water doesn't penetrate the pours of the jbweld over time and sand the ca glue afterwards so it is like a clear plastic cover for the jbweld
I ended up useing jb weld on a $200 tracker topper 1436 I just picked up I used the jb water weld stick inside and outside then put the 2 part jb weld over all that haha I tried useing the map gas and brazing rods I was able to fix a couple holes with that but other holes they started melting bigger holes so jb weld it had to be
Next time try solder less aluminum brazing sticks or jb weld epoxy heat stick
I wish I could get my hands on some aluminum brazing I want to try that.
Threy have JB WELD Marine Weld now
nothing works better than the original JBweld i would spray the bottom and inside with truck bed liner
they sell a liner here at my paint store that dries hard but flexible you cant cut it with a knife, its to hard but it will bend and not break
I wish i would have spayed the inside with bed liner. Maybe next time.
Bed liner peels right off after being in the water
@@seanjohnson9440 in the inside of the boat... How is that in the inside of the water
Next time you should look into fluxing, its nonstructural but will bond to the aluminum, you can hand it down and make any crack or small hole invisible! and will be a permanent fix.
Oh yeah I’ve been looking at the aluminum flux rods you can get. I wish I thought about it before I did this.
Backwoods Raised you can still go back after the end of the season, break off that J.B. weld and get the low temp flux rods and a burner kit from homedepot, the one with the oxygen and map gas kit, and if you have a harbor freight by you I would get the flux rods their! Super cheap! Once your done you can sand it all down flush and repaint and will look like a new boat! Spring time is to work on the fish houses for hard water, and winter is used for working on the boat! Good system lol
I removed some oar holders from the side of mine and I'm left with some ~1/8 inch screw holes, would this hold across the gap?
Yeah it would. Put tape on one side and fill in the hole on the other. Once it cures take the tape off and you will be good.
Apply that to my cracks 😂😂😂😂
damn, this boat went through ww3 and back
army jeep parts has the best paint if ur looking for quality o.d. paint.
Good to know.
Well. I had a surface on my ballast of my pontoon boat.worked good for 3 days. But that's .
Hey dude do you think I would be able to apply that to the bottom of my boat without flipping it upside down because I have an engine mounted on it???
yes dude
How did this hold up ??
It worked great and still no leaks or chipping. Worked out better than I thought.
@@BackwoodsRaised oh nice , im gonna try it thanks
@@BackwoodsRaised u ended up spraying flex seal on the rivets? What kind of wire brush wheel should I buy to clean the area?
Use windshield polyurethane don`t need to clean anything spread it on let dry done deal YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REMOVE EASY it holds the windshield in your car this stuff is tough as a tire get local vehicle parts supply .
Thanks for the advice
Got a $40 Jon Boat and on has two holes!!!
Should have used a paint brush!
i am commenting before watching so if i don't see some flex seal, i will be disappointed
Harshman Hills fear not my friend I have the can of flex seal ready and waiting to be applied
Oh my..spray in longer strokes son😂😂😂😂
Yeah you are right. But with my wrist injury I can’t hold the button down long enough
Who cares?...he got it painted and it looks good. That's all that matter
" Dip a little bit of that JB Weld" -LOLOLOLOL ....no don't do it.....
Haha that would not be good
Spray flex seal over jb weld ?
Oh yeah I ended up doing that.
@@BackwoodsRaised never thought about that I bet its extra hard now I just put jb weld on bottom of my 98 lowe
USE G-FLEX EPOXY
next time we see you in the boat you'll be in the bottom of the lake that stuff sucks...JB weld isnt good for shit idk people think its good what i used it for it didnt work in the least any stress on those "welded" parts and it just breaks again
Apparently you didn’t do it correctly because I have never had a problem with JB Weld
@@walttyndall7041 no maybe the shit just sucks:_ hows that WAlly...i tried the marine stuff this time on a boat so we'll see if it works this time i have a feeling ti might seems to have dried hard...i used the normal stuff on plastic i think last time and it didnt hold this time i used the marine stuff on a boat so we';ll see here going fishing next week.
@@sonnyc3826 let me guess u tryd usin jb weld on flexable plastic? Aha clueless
