Lehla GR I literally have all 141 songs of this game on my phone... maybe I took the "listen this forever" thing too far... nah this game's soundtrack is that good. Also shutouts to final fantasy shrine for the high quality audio.
...Y'know, the Pokemon series has always been marketed as being about friendship, but neither the anime or the main games have portrayed that too well if you ask me. They always come close, but never close enough. And then this game happened. Not only did the folks at Chunsoft really understand the main concept, but they portrayed it darn-near perfectly, evoking as much emotion as possible while still making an engaging game and story. I will forever consider this game a masterpiece of not just of the Pokemon series, but of games in general. It'll be a miracle if it is ever topped by another Pokemon game.
@@justalpha9138 sun/moon? lmfao what? these games are hot garbage. only mainline games that come close to Mystery Dungeon Explorers in terms of emotion and story are BW & B2W2. and maybe, just maybe, Platinum. nothing else. not even other amazing mainline games like Emerald, FRLG or HGSS, let alone Alola/Galar 💩 Mystery Dungeon is just something else
With this game, I commonly think about how well they manipulated the story and music in order to manufacture this absolute rollercoaster of emotion known as explorers of sky. Like seriously, in the last chapter of the main story. Running through temporal tower knowing and accepting that you are just about to straight up cease to exist at the end. Then the whole partner Pokémon scene outside the tower after beating dialga. Where they deliver one of the most saddening and heartbreaking scenes in video game history I think. I will *never forget* this masterpiece
everything is peaceful now. the world is safe. they wouldn’t want you to be sad, right? they would want you to move on. everyone is safe now. everyone...except them.
lesbianmudkip or instead: you just wished for a buddy so you could become the best explorer on your own merit. Thus, the game began as “your name” and your partner enter the guild a while later. Due to this, you got to help “your name” and his partner with small things whenever you got the chance.
This always feels like your partner's theme. The leitmotif of "Don't Ever Forget", which is closer to your theme, playing fits since you return to them but only after they have remembered you and live with you in their heart.
Remember, with sky, the devs made this knowing most people played T/D before, or at least knew the story/ending... This is very sorrowful foreshadowing... It really caught me off guard when I started playing sky (since I heard the end music).
@@ianleather5699 The funny part is everyone seems to think so because it uses the "don't ever forget" motif, but it actually plays at the end of the Bidoof's wish special episode. Hence the name.

I can’t take either boss seriously because they shouldn’t be there. Kyeurem and Yveltal were right there! Like for gates to infinity they could’ve had a plot of like ice rapidly freezing everything over or tied in the truth and ideals crap with reshirem and Zekrom fighting or something like that would’ve been cool and with Yveltal have things dying because he keeps absorbing the life force and the plot revolves around trying to prevent a great dying and Pokémon from continuing to lose their homes. It completely misses the point with plot being just essentially at its core “ahhhh negative emotions make big bad destroy it with the power of friendship!" Like in a series like kirby that makes sense but in mystery dungeon it’s annoying and they’re essentially the same except the pacing terrible on both games with it either dragging on and on with little substance or going too fast with little exposition. At the end of the day this is just me thinking out loud so feel free to take it my ramblings with a grain of salt

There are many, many often used motifs, most of them being in story related songs instead of dungeons, to name a few (or all the ones that are not exclusive to 2 or less dungeons): - time gear motif: present in time gear, time gear (remix) (that one that plays during the first introduction to time gears and at fogbound lake), in temporal tower, temporal spire, temporal pinnacle, Dialga's fight to the finish, time restored, ending theme, and I think some others in the post game and special episodes, especially in episode 5, also it is played backwards in air of unease for some reason. - exploration team motif: present in the intro theme, main menu, pelipper island, most guild related themes, tittle theme (a 7 second long song), and it appears briefly in many songs like Dialga's fight to the finish, memories returned, it is very prevalent in ending theme intro, ending theme, epilogue theme, do your best as always, a fun exploration (igglybuff's adorable theme), "all for one, one for all", A new world, A Message on the wind, Life goes on! (Special episode 5 ending theme). The most prevelent motif in the game, as it appears in almost every major theme in the game, besides some of the ones that focus on the other motifs mentioned here. - wigglytuff's motif, present songs with ider wigglytuff or guild in the name, also in all for one, one for all and in a fun exploration. -The future's motif (the hardest to recognize, as it is present in a crap ton of songs and it is only 3 notes long, with room for a lot of diversity in pitch) present in "in the future", "planet's paralysis", down a dark path, and many, many songs of the fifth special episode, both in dungeon and story songs, don't ever forget, although briefly and only in the xylophone, same as in have to get home. Dialga's fight to the finish's motif (or temporal motif/theme), present in Dialga's fight to the finish!, time gear, Trough the sea of time, In the hands of fate, temporal tower, temporal spire, temporal pinnacle, ending theme, i'm not sure if it appears in Vast ice mountain, but i'm sure it does in Vast ice mountain peak, Life goes on! The second most used motif together with time gear, and the most memorable one. Don't ever forget's motif which is present in Don't ever forget, have to get home, farther away..., a wish for peace and I think is in a small part of memories returned. Also fun fact: ending theme has a part where it plays a section of a wish for peace. Sky peak's motif is in evey song that has shaymin or sky peak on the name Living spirit's motif (which is divided in 3 motifs: the one introduced in For a new life, which represents the desire of a world of light in the middle of darkness, the one of Living spirit, the most prevalent one, which represents the endless fight, both physical and moral, specially the ladder, to achieve such a world, and the one of Proud accomplishment, which represents the growing hope that the new world might be a reality, and, most importantly, the resolve to bear the consequences, all coming together and culminating in "In the morning sun") is present in for a new life, living spirit, icicle forest, proud accomplishment, vast ice mountain, vast ice mountain peak, In the morning sun, A new world, A message on the wind and Life goes on!. To say that this game only has 2 main tunes is an understatement, as it's godlike soundtrack is based almost entirely in a great use of motifs. Even if you mean the most important ones, time gear and exploration theme are both also extremely prevalent.
It's Bidoof's wish ending theme actually, But why the hell would I imagine about the scene that me and my partner go back to Sharpedo Cliff and call it a day when I heard this song???
It's 2024, this game's over 15 years old... Yet here I am, coming back, still bloody unable to forget. You two saved the world, and everyone gets to be happy at last. Everyone, except YOU, who not only deserved it but also needed it the most. Your partner loses the one that gave meaning to his life, while your existence ends on the sourest possible note: forced to betray your most precious friend, making him fall from his highest to his lowest in the most painful way.
I will hail this game for all of eternity for how it handles such substantial matters as friendship, loyalty, peace, love, living in such an emotional, yet essential way. Peace is what we all wish for and without a single word being said, the OST conveys that hope. Hope for a better future. For a new life...
