      I always liked that bright blue one from the late 90’s. The two door that was greater than 100 hp per liter. Wasn’t it a 1.6L or something? I remember it was 180 or 200 hp and was blazing fast. I think it was sub 7 seconds back then

      @@utcougar the only civic type r from 90s was what original poster mantioned, an EK9, the first civic type R. Yes it had B16b engine which was based on B18c from integra type r but with reduced stroke to 77mm making it a 1.6l with 1.86:1 rod to ratio that could rev to the moon, as it was 1.8 engine with 1.6 crank (and few other minor differences). Trully the greatest fwd car ever produced. FD2 would quite possibly take that crown had it had double wishbone like 90s hondas.

      @@bluewanderer9903 doing a little research it seems it was 99-2003 “ish”. Blue color. 2 door. Non-hatch. Looking on wiki seems it was a “seventh gen” from my 2 minute research. I’m a hardcore Porsche guy and I remember it had more hp per liter than a 911 and even though it wasn’t competitive with the 911 turbo in any sense of the word the hp/liter ratio wasn’t so far fetched from the turbos numbers. I really wanted that blue civic as a college kid. It was very! pricey back then. Late 20k range I remember in 2005 buying my first Porsche which was a boxster S and they were running right around $40k for a used 2002. That gives you an idea how expensive the civic Si was (many years prior to when I could afford a used boxster). That boxster S today is at least $80-90k MSRP, putting the civic Si way up there

    • @bluewanderer9903
      @bluewanderer9903 Год назад

      @@utcougar it wasnt a type r then. 7gen are 01 to 06. If you are from US, I dont think you guys had type r till 10gen came out, think that was your first R badged civic. The above mentioned ek9 is Japanese market only, but it was quite common in rhd europe as gray import.
      But the car that was famous for its bhp per liter was S2000, it had 120bhp per liter. The pre-face was 99 - 03 and blue was one of its colours, maybe thats the one you are thinking about?
      Yes all hondas are up there with pricing considering the class, especially the performance models.

    As a current FK8 owner, I've always loved the eccentric, extreme, almost "kiddish" looks of the FK8 that was so polarizing to people. Honda was definitely going for a more mature/refined look for their civics and this new FL5 Type R is very much in line with those design cues. When comparing the outgoing FK8 (and even the FK2) and this new Type R, I like both for different reasons, and they both appeal aesthetically to me. Very curious if it puts out different HP/torque numbers, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't. More likely, they further refined the suspense, transmission and overall handling.
    Edit: watched a few more videos and Honda has already stated that the new Type R 2.0T will make more HP. My guess is anywhere from 15-20 HP more.

      Too bad dealers continue to destroy the market and these cars. They are purposely trying to keep production numbers low.
