For the millionth time...That "Fake Vent" in the front bumber he keeps saying is non-functional, IS NOT A VENT. It's an Aero Kick-Out for air to flow smoothly past the front wheel/tire and not get sucked into the wheel well. It's meant to kick the air out around the front wheels, so that the air that's directed in for brake cooling, can have uninterrupted flow into the wheel well, and flow out the side vent relieving high pressure in the wheel well. It's a purpose driven functional piece of aero design, not "just a fake vent". The Honda engineers specifically talked about their being no fake aero pieces on this car vs the FK8, they wanted everything that is there to be functional, and nothing extra just for looks.

I don't think it is the car 100% that is the reason so many content creators bought one as it is they had the money to burn from their channels, they figured they will make money on it so go ahead and never stopped to think, what about my subscribers, the regular hard working people who always wanted a car like this, finally they have a chance so why ruin that?
Greed, that's why, ugly sad, greed.
I think they did it more for the views, subs and $$ that comes with that.
which killed the market for regular folks like you and I.
Unless of course you are willing to dump 5 to 40k$ over sticker which I am not.
Putting the car out of reach for regular people buy giving in to dealer demands hurts us all and it really irritates me the greed these people demonstrate rather than the feeling of community.
A community acts together for the best interest of the group, the greater good.
But you can see none of these youtubers did.
Not even our so-called buddy Raiti.
He put his desire and easy money from RUclips to work for him so he could get what he wanted without thinking about his subscribers who as a result may never get to own an FL5.
Weaker, less patient players will say, hey capitalism, and hey make more money etc.. but there is no need to pay over sticker for this car, ever.
If he and all others just said no I don't think a Civic is worth $50k Ill wait.
We would all be able to afford the Type R.
Production would ramp up and more cars would flow to America.
They just want more, more subs, likes, and dollars from advertisers.
Meanwhile if they had the guts to stand tall on it, even if it meant not being the first to own the Type r, and just said NO to dealers, they could have regulated the market for everyone.
      Now it is a mess.

I am crushed I can't find one. Most dealerships have 10-20 people on next years waiting list and some dealerships said they are waiting until 2032 for everyone on the list to get one, if hypothetically everyone on the list were to fulfill their spot on the waitlist. mind-blowing. I've told him same thing I'ma tell you. Those front bumper "fake vents" that he likes to "zonk" aren't fake vents. They're called air-kick-outs. They're a functional and intentional part of the overall aerodynamic design for the front and side. They're there to kick out air in a smooth laminal flow out and around the front wheel well/wheel/tire, and send it down the side of the car. It's there so that the air that's directed through the brake cooling dams in the bumper have a smooth flow to the brakes and out the side vent (also relieving high preasure build up in the front wheel wells). All of that is meant to work together to keep the brakes cool, keep the pressure in the wheel well low, and maintain smooth laminal flow down the side of the vehicle.
There are engineering slides out there of their wind tunnel testing, showing the various air flow for the different parts of the aero setup for the Type-R, along with brief explanations. I think Savagegeese shows some of them in his introductory review of the Type-R. One of the things the Honda engineers wanted with this generation of Type-R was to have all functional aero design, and drop any fake aero pieces like they had on the previous FK8.

  • @BigBear--
    @BigBear-- Год назад +4

The stiff ride in R mode is stiff on purpose. It's there so that if you plan on seriously tracking the car, not just for fun. It's there so that when you use proper full race, R-Comp, tires the car doesn't get unsettled on track. If the tires are super sticky, and the suspension is too soft, it will upset the car on track. R Mode isn't really for street driving, even though I personally don't have a problem with it when you want to do some spirited back road driving.

@@RaitisRides I'm curious how many miles you have on your FL5 so far. Mine seemed to soften up a bit after about 1,500-2,000 mile break in on the suspension. Not crazy mind you, just sorta smoothed out those sharp edges a bit. Comfort is more supple, Sport is a proper middle ground, and while R is stiff, it's a bit less bouncy and more settled than day 1.

I'd be curious what the stock exhuast would sound like if you do resonator deletes...there's 2 resonators I think, so would be interesting to see one deleted, then both deleted and see what it sounds like in both cases. Or....maybe leave the resonators, and delete the muffler....or a combination 1 resonator and the muffler.

@@RaitisRides Looking forward to it. Also, be on lookout for your drivers seat frame starting to squeak, especially if you rock your body side to side (mine started developing at around 1,300-1,800 miles). This is a known issue, and I already had my seat frame replaced once under warranty, even though my rep let me know quietly it looks like a recall and redesign may be on the way (she didn't want me to have to wait with a squeaky seat). If recall happens I'll get it switched out again for new design, though so far the squeak hasn't returned and it feels more solid. Driver size and weight doesn't seem to be the issue, as people from 130lbs up to 345lbs all experience same problem with the seat.
This is all part of the early adopter problem. There are almost no aftermarket parts out for the new car, and you become the beta tester shaking down the new car design and any aftermarket parts.

Yo Raiti, great review. Comment about your issue with ride stiffness (that’s what she said). You could consider downsizing your rims 1in and increasing tire height for a lil sidewall flex and enhances ride compliance.

    Love your car,
    So, I'm curious.
Now that the Type S is on its way, do you have any regrets about paying over MSRP for the Civic and are you thinking of either buying a Type s also or turning in the Civic towards a type s or are you 100% happy with your decision and have no intentions of getting the Integra Type S?
I wonder about many who either have been waiting for a Type R or are on a list or otherwise, how many of them will bail on the Civic and try to get a Type S.
after June's allocations of 200 cars comes and goes, only then will we have a better idea on production and wait times for more cars, hopefully September thru Jan we will see cars flowing from Maryville Ohio for buyers that do want the integra.
It seems like if someone who paid over sticker wanted to sell their type R right now it is 50/50 as to whether they could recoup their money or not.
I mean who is going to pay 5k over MSRP when the Type S which is being made in America and should not suffer shortages like the Type r did is only weeks away from pricing reports and first allocations?
I love the Type R but from day 1 I wasn't impressed with some of the interior options.
I get it they wanted to literally save every pound they could for setting track records, understood, but I do keep my cars for decades, and the thought of having a bare bones interior compared to many of the competitors didn't sit well with me, I don't love the Type R seats, or the lack of creature comforts.
I mean it is only a 300 hp car, my 07" Nissan is quicker, so saving weight at the expense of tech and of luxury to me, in this car seems kind of over kill, just my opinion of course.
    I lover the integra.
Started out wanting to buy the Sport Civic, with the 2 liter 160 hp motor, why? Because it is bullet proof, gets great gas mileage and looks great.
The Type R caught my eye only because of the 2.0 liter, I don't trust the 1.5.
Then the integra came out and although I love the interior, (except the dash vent cover being broken up) I didn't want that 1.5 so I figured I will go either for the Type r or the sport to avoid the 1.5.
But now that the Type S is on its way and promises to not have severe shortages like the Civic did due to it being built in Ohio, I feel like getting one is pretty realistic to me, I think anyway, let's hope.
I really want the Type S very bad.
I hope it works out that way.
