Love Chris along with the rest, and Chris might have the best voice of those mentioned, but he couldn't touch Childers, Simpson, or Yoakam in songwriting. Just my .02@@MrRobCharles
I’m from Texas and Texas redirt will always be my #1 go to, but Tyler Childers is always circulating through my playlists no matter what, he kicks ass.
The thing i like about Texas country artists and a lot of other country artists is that they are down to earth. Most Texas country artists as soon as they are off stage for the night they come down to drink and hangout with the fans especially hear in the San Antonio area where a lot of these guys live like Randy Rogers, Kevin Fowler, and a lot others. You don't find respect for fans like that much anymore with most other music artists these days.
You couldn’t be more right. I live here in San Marcos and played fiddle for a few around here, Duke Ryan, Ian Tonroy, Austin James and have gotten the chance to put down a few whiskeys with rogers and Fowler. It’s always so much fun when everyone takes a break, does a lap around the bar and has conversations with the actual patrons that come in. Texas singers are just different in the best way.
a big complaint about country music from people that don't usually listen to it( hip-hop and metal as well) is that all the songs sound the same...one great thing I think about this new setup with hearing the songs back to back is you could clearly tell the difference in styles, feeling, nuances, just general sound of each band. As a non country fan I felt like I could appreciate it even more and could see this helping to understand whatever genre even more. Looking forward to Pt 2
Good point. I think another part of it is people who don't usually listen to country have only listened to the nashville pop they push on "country" radio. It does all sound the same and 99% of it is just garbage. So those people really just haven't actually ever listened to country music and just don't know any better.
Sounds like the Rap on the radio these days. It all sounds the same and is lyrically trash. Radio just sucks to me these days. You have to stay away from radio to hear good music. They won't play it. I think their agenda is clear. Keep people away from any kind of thinking. Thankfully there is always talent out there.
I never watch reaction videos except for you guys. I think it's so cool that you finally got the podcast thing going and have a new and improved setup. You guys rock, love the channel, love the content, hope you can do this full time, I'm going to donate soon!
Oh yeah, I'm in on this new format. I just heard 2 songs I never would have heard if not for you guys. Both songs were great. The best part I dont have to pick a winner. Definitely picking up these songs on itunes and checking out more. Good on you guys, cant wait for more.
Definitely the best, most authentic music reactors on RUclips. Love you guys. Cody Johnson and Randy Rogers are both great artists, but gotta go with Randy Rogers in this showdown. One of my favorite songs.
Oh yea, new sound is dope. No lie I was one of those early early subs that was a little nervous about everything changing but natural evolution is right. New format works just fine for me. Glad to see you guys succeed with ambition. Here is to 100k and beyond. Cheers

Thanks for turning me on to some new music. Had never heard of the Red Dirt movement... It's really amazing. Great song choices. Like the new format! 💗

Keep up the good work fellas it’s been a cool journey watching you dive into unfamiliar territory and come out fans.
Too hard for me to pick a winner. I enjoy both songs, but the song I prefer just depends on my mood. Today, it’s Cody. Hit me up after a few glasses of wine and it would be Randy. Either way, loved the video and can’t wait to see part 2!
Man I'm glad ima generational Texan. Not only do I get to hear these Texas jams and see them in concert on a regular basis, but these songs are etched in my life for life.

They ain't too familiar with country, but I guarantee if they were familiar with country Aaron would have won this thing before his song was even played.

@@TheXxKingSlayrxX nothing wrong with this pick . All of us can relate to the song. Many of us have been there one time or another.. The lyrics are better. Cody sounds like he's trying to sound Texas country... RRB IS Texas Country

Don't know how in depth you guys read these, but I love watching y'all's content and as a proud, native texan, I love that you're looking specifically at Texas Country. if you really wanted to though, you could split Texas Country into even smaller subgenres. In this tournament (if I remember what the other two songs you're doing correctly) you've got three outlaw songs and one dance hall song. Us Texans claim both but they have distinctive sounds. Randy Rogers is one of the quintessential dance hall artists and Cody Jinks is arguably one of the best living outlaw artists. I don't think this invalidates the tournament in any way, just trying to give y'all more insight into the Red Dirt scene as someone who's been living in it for years.
