I have a repair and service shop for music and audio gear, and every time i finish any repair on a speaker system, PA system etc, i use this marvelous song to test it. If the equipment makes it through the song and survives, it passes. Both in quality and spiritually.

I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita; Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty, and to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form and says: 'Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.' he's becoming Hoppo in-house Music guy ... it's a great thing. Supergiant games works like that too and it shows in the quality of their games.
Working with an OST from the start helps refine what the mood of the game is supposed to be, it keeps the whole thing on track. Like you couldn't imagine playing Isaac or Meat Boy without the sick melodies from Danny B.

I recently went back to play Deadbolt, one of my favorite games by heart, and now that I have a greater emotional and worldly understanding I understand how precious this game is.
The music in this game manages to immerse us in this chaotic, lonely and melancholic world, where not everyone is happy or has good endings.
Some laugh, many cry and scream for help.
When you understand this game, you know that every undead you killed had a life. Before they were people, and even after they were resurrected, they did not stop being people.
Each one with their own problems and concerns, their pains and frustrations, their melancholy and loneliness to face, in addition to the battle for their daily survival, just like us, normal people.
This game has such intense depth that you start to feel a strong empathy for the undead you kill. Most of them may not even be your enemies, just your adversaries, just unfortunate beings who crossed your path and could not have a choice between peace or war, peace was never an option in this chaotic, cold and lonely world.

I love how unafraid you are to have the lead dance outside the harmony in this soundtrack! This track especially, it's done so well, and it fits perfectly with the concept of the game. I really appreciate the thought (that may (or may not have been)) put into creating dem nasty harmonies with the guitar. Excellent pacing too, especially with the challenge of the repetitive bass-line. I think it's a unique style, and it's inspiring :D Good luck with RoR2!

quick question to you. Someone who "creates" music is a producer, a composer or a musician

    • @AstronautDown
      @AstronautDown  7 лет назад +47

Guará All three potentially create music. The way I see it composing is a rather esoteric process that includes (but is not limited to) the organization of the sounds in a piece of music (melody, harmony, instrumentation, form, etc.). Producing has more to do with the final result and can involve things like sound design, mixing, creative effects, etc. In modern music making the two definitely overlap. The term "musician" to me is more associated with the performer. Some performers are players (i.e. orchestra musician), some are interpreters (like a soloist) and some are "creators" (i.e. improvisers in a jazz ensemble, etc.). But the terms are blurred. For example, Miles Davis is a musician (trumpet player) but also a composer and improviser. So I guess you can use either term depending on context. :)

Late to the commenting party , I bought this game on march 23rd 2016 and I slept on it for a long while but the soundtrack is what drove me to hunt for 3 stars on almost all levels.
Your ability to create unique soundscapes and fully immerse the player into a specific universe just through music is seldom matched in the game scoring industry in my opinion.
I discovered your music playing risk of rain and I've been hooked ever since , you're up there with the GOATs like mick gordon , jeremy soule, danny baranowsky , austin wintory , lena raine ,C418 i'm sure i'm forgetting plenty of other talented people that have made good games reach legendary status with their musical prowess.

At first I was just waiting for the game. Then I found out Chris would be on the soundtrack job. I have never looked so forward to a game. I don't mind all the mission quits because I want no deaths when this is the song I'm always greeted with. Fantastic work.

Just beat normal mode today and this was a blast! I remember Deadbolt about a year or two ago. I gave up due to a lack of understanding and frustration but after coming back I loved everything!
It was a good time, and your music made the experience practically perfect. I'm gonna try to beat hard mode and it's gonna be pretty tilting but I know the music will make the experience easier. I really enjoyed Deadbolt and I can't wait to eventually try Risk of rain!
(Also sorry about any extra notifications, RUclips bugged out!)

This song, and every other song you make, has such a distinct feel. They all sorta slowly layer on themselves, they all got that funky sound to em, and the way you do synth stuff just has such a unique feel. This came on in a spotify shuffle while I was listening to the ROR2 ost, and it was apparently one of *your* songs by the thirty second mark. Its so mellow, but the guitar just rips in and brings a real strangely soft dread to the piece. I feel at peace, but I also feel like I shouldn't. Its strange, and its something that a song hasn't really done to me before. I like it.
Dont know how many ways I can compliment you, and all the wonderful people you work with. I hope you keep doing whatever makes you passionate- because thats the best way I can describe your tracks. Filled with passion.

Chris Christodoulou Lol I just sent this video to my friend, aaaaannnndddd... He instantly said "I love this soundtrack, how much money do I need to throw at the game?"
And then he impulse bought Deadbolt, and I don't even think he knows what GENRE deadbolt is. XD
Needless to say, you influenced him to impulse buy a game that he knew nothing about, but...
You also made sure that his purchase was a great one. I have high hopes for the game. Can't wait to purchase it myself.
      *EDIT*
Turns out my friend is a little troll. He just spend money on The Division and decided NOT to buy Deadbolt... Yet...He seemed super hyped about Deadbolt.

okay please, how is that tone achieved in the final solo? its just too frickin’ sweet. i’ve been coming back to this song as a kind of home base for the past year and a half, and that last solo really takes me to another world lol. i would love to learn it, but know i’d struggle with getting anywhere near that tone lol
