This song really makes you feel like professional. Like you've done this so many times before. The sounds of gunfire and gunpowder in the air, and heads flying just mixes perfectly with this track. Amazing job, Chris. I'd say this game's tracks rivals even that of Katana Zero's.

I just adore the way this track gives off the vibe of being so mysterious... It is perfect for the Reaper. the very professional and slightly mobster sound, into when he would start whooping some ass on the undead towards the end of the track. Good job Chris, you are a legend!
After listening to this album like 80 times something really cool I noticed is how this song and hemolysis are very similar in structure, but hemolysis is like a more distorted nightmarish version of this. Ayy lmao, my friends. That is to say: Fucking amazing. I can't wait to see your next projects, Chris. You can do such a good mix of vibes, genres and feels to your works that almost all of your works are in a playlist for me!
You had my attention at the section from 1:04 to 1:09 and I think the song it reminded me of one of the sections in Into the Doldrums from Risk of Rain 2. I decided to start listening through Deadbolt's music and this piece hadn't really caught my attention because of the slower start, until that 5 second section. The song had my full attention for the rest of it. I have absolutely loved every song I have listened to, and I am not surprised at all since I love your music. Judging by how good the music is, I wouldn't be surprised if I finally decided to get the game and experience the music in the game itself.
I decided to play deadbolt during this summer steam sale and what a great game and soundtrack it is. I loved that the little "zen(?)" droning at the drop 3:27 that shows up throughout "They Might As Well Be Dead". I enjoyed noticing parallels between ror and ror2 soundtracks, finding additional parallels with deadbolt was unexpected but It put a smile on my face.
i love this song in the game because i just swoop around picking people off throw the knife at that guy then unloading death+taxes into a group of vampires then walking away like a badass at the chaotic part of the song........its bliss. thank you
I just have to throw in my own comment complimenting you on your work. The soundtrack is so well done, it's difficult for me to pick out a favorite. Each track establishes a base and then builds on it. I think it's incredible you can produce music like this that far surpasses a lot of 'AAA' games. Deadbolt is fun but the music really makes it what it is. I hope you and Hopoo keep working together, you make a great team!
some people in this comment section say this track symbolizes how the reaper is a professional, but i think that because this track is played in the dredged missions, it symbolizes how depressed they are, cause all the suicide stuff and that these tall guys will just resurrect them, and yes, i know im saying the most obvious stuff, but i just had to say it

i heard about DEADBOLT about a year ago, and played the demo and loved it. I bought the full game without hesitation as soon as I found out it came out, and I have to say the soundtrack just makes it so much better. I've also noticed that most (if not all) of the songs in the game seem to have the same little melody some point in the song, and I love how it connects like that. This is one of my favourite songs from the game, I love the transition from sort of calm and eerie to more intense alternative rock mixed with electronica elements, it's just so awesome. Great job on the music, man :D One other thing I like is how the music is implemented in the game, in the sense that it goes all muffled when you're outside the room it's being played in, it just works so well. Love the game, especially love the soundtrack, and I hope that some day more 'Chapters' are made for the game, along with more music for it :D
Chris Christodoulou Wow thanks for the quick reply! I don't usually go looking for game OSTs (I think the only other one I've ever looked for was the No More Room in Hell Soundtrack, the song 'Mellow' is just brilliant in a creepy, lonely way) but some of the songs for DEADBOLT just stuck with me, this one is my favourite, whenever I hear it in the game I turn the sound up :) And yeah, I know DEADBOLT was just released, and it's a good 4-6 hours of gameplay, but already I'd love to see more levels or a sequel! I've started looking at some custom levels, some of which are brilliant!
Chris Christodoulou Oh wow :p Well I guess I did well because I honed my skills in the original demo a year back :D It's still a pretty dang hard game though, but that's what I like about it.

This and Blood on the Dancefloor are my two favorite songs from this game. Are you the games creator or did you just make the music? If you are the games creator, what is Reapers back story? From what I have observed in the game, he has very little emotion and rarely speaks. It seems he is just there to follow orders and kill the undead. But the part in the game where his employer actually goes out of its (I don't know if the employer is male or female) way to get him a cat just so he can have some sort of companionship makes it seem like the Reaper is actually quite lonely. He most likely doesn't consider his employer a friend so, does he need someone to fill the void in his life? Is that why he has so little emotion and shows no mercy towards the undead?
Hi there! Glad you like the music. I actually did not work on the game itself although I had some extra info about it while working on the music, but mostly about gameplay and not so much about the story. I think Duncan and Paul (the developers) are intentionally ambiguous about Reaper's origins. Throughout the game you get to learn about what's going on with the undead and even some of the more personal stories of the goons (via audio tapes) but you get little info about the protagonist. I think that is done so that you can create your own version of the hero and in my opinion it adds plenty to the game's immersion. I feel that your theories are solid-especially about Reaper's loneliness-if you noticed, if he finds the cat sitting in his chair, he will not disturb it, so there's definitely some companionship going on there :) I agree that Fireplace is not Reaper's friend, after all he is mentioned several times as "my employer". Bottom line is, Hopoo wants players to be involved in the game's story and I think they did a good job to make it happen :)
Abso-freaking-lutely. I agree with you 100%. I enjoyed this game so much and the music was phenomenal! Keep up the amazing work and I sincerely hope that there is a sequel in the makings! ;) P.S. After I got done with that mission when the cat first showed up, I tried to sit in the chair so I could get the next mission. When the Reaper failed to sit down and the flame gave me my mission anyway, I thought the game broke or something. When I noticed it said 'Cat' and I clicked on it, the employer told me it got my character a cat and that's when I noticed the black blob on my chair. I was super excited but sad that I couldn't pet it. :(
this is a theory and its not offical, also spoilers: so you are reaper, and the fire is your employer. and he give you missions to finish and you obey him. considering you are a skeleton i'd imagine that you have commited suicide at one point(zombies are created upon death of a human by drugs, vampires when they are betrayed by their loved ones, skeletons upon suicide. demons[are they even undeads?] is never mentioned in the game how they are created by.) and became a skeleton, you cannot die so you somehow find the flame and he offers you a job, and you accepted it cuz there is nothing else to do. and you carry out his missions. There is a reaper before you however, and he is Ibzan, aka the guy flame wanted you to kill by the end of the game because ibzan is no longer a reaper and he somehow wronged the flames and(with evidence from the game) ibzan wanted to apologize for that "thing" he did, he even refers to the flames as old friend or friend. when you kill ibzan and he teleports to a new location in the house he have some lines, "poor aim, and a poor reaper" which i think poor aim is to taunt you, but poor reaper is that he pity you, not because you are weak and didnt kill him, but more because you are obeying the flame to carry out all these missions and still loyal to him. he also says "im not here for YOU, reaper!" which confirms that he knows what a reaper is but it is not him aim to fight/kill you. his goal instead is to find the flames and apoligise for what he did. considering ibzan is the leader of all undeads i think thats how the undeads heard about "reaper" ("have you heard about...reaper?" - zombie to another zombie "a reaper? you zombies cant even defend your own ash?"[reply]"he comes... for you too...") anyways there are bullets on the wall of an armchair somewhere in the game that i no longer remember. but i think that is ibzan commiting suicide and how he became a skeleton(according to audio tape he is sick of following missions for someone which we will assume proves he is the old reaper), there is another idea from me is that he was a demon(they have horns) and he commited suicide, and thus him having horns and why one of which is broken; because the shotgun. the flame probably saw him killing himself and is mad at him because he is suppose to be a reaper. the audio discribles izban coming home(final level house) and unable to find the flame in the fire place and is mad at the flames but more angry at himself"no, no! where are you?? where are you you son of a bitch!" and thats probably when the flame found you and hired you, notice how your own home doesnt have a fireplace and is instead have a large opening created by bricks taken off the wall to forcefully create a place for the fire place. the flames didnt want you to be like izban so he got you a cat to keep you company instead of like izban who probably felt extreamly lonely(he is a reaper after all, he kills ppl). im not gunna type more cuz i just realise i've been here for about 20 mins...
I was looking at some messages on a discord server while listening to this and I chuckled at the exact moment the video ended and hearing someone else chuckle in perfect unison with me scared the utter fuck outta me.
I love this track so much. Im coming back and back to it, over and over again. It fits the game so much, its like the song alone gives you the reason and class you need to do your job and you know you will do it well. so you are reaper, and the fire is your employer. and he give you missions to finish and you obey him. considering you are a skeleton i'd imagine that you have commited suicide at one point(zombies are created upon death of a human by drugs, vampires when they are betrayed by their loved ones, skeletons upon suicide. demons[are they even undeads?] is never mentioned in the game how they are created by.) and became a skeleton, you cannot die so you somehow find the flame and he offers you a job, and you accepted it cuz there is nothing else to do. and you carry out his missions.
@@silence7524 Wow.
I love this soundtrack, you've done an amazing job Chris !
need a repress of this album! very sad I found deadbolt so late its got so much atmosphere and mood to it, absolutely divine work yet again chris
Oh man i love this song so much too !
ah, probably my favorite track from the ost, 3:27 just hits way too hard
songs like this one make a good game a masterpiece
Dude, this is so sweet. You're a great artist, really make it up for the ost of Deadbolt, such an amazing work!
Definitely my favorite track in the game, which is saying something because so many tracks in this game are AMAZING.
3:27. nuff said
I love the game and the Ost, Reaper's work
Hotline Miami feels... love this album, great work.
I was looking at some messages on a discord server while listening to this and I chuckled at the exact moment the video ended and hearing someone else chuckle in perfect unison with me scared the utter fuck outta me.
Great work dude. Definitely gonna buy the game soon.
Chris Christodoulou lol, thx for the tip. :D
i hope u still remember this game, and if not, here's a reminder!
I love this track so much. Im coming back and back to it, over and over again. It fits the game so much, its like the song alone gives you the reason and class you need to do your job and you know you will do it well. You have done this before, you are professional and professionals have standards. They outnumber you but it doesnt matter. You have done this before. You are the one who knockes. You are the Grim Reaper and its just another night...........
i love this song too much
And i love this game too much **--**
New preview looks very good :)
Truly a masterpiece.
3:32 i love that part
Try playing it at 1.5 speed it sounds awesome!

Thanks! Btw, you should tell the devs so I can get more gigs! ;)
Smoooth as silk.
bro i think you should make longer the 3:27, its beautiful
Thanks, but I can't make a single second any longer than exactly one second, it's just how time works... :P
This is my favourite song.
This sounds soooo good with the games dynamic music
have no one noticed a quite laugh at the end of this track? like at the very end
talk about cool easter egg
one of the best songs in the game and not because of lack of competition!
Not even the song but the feeling you get from this right? It's kind of break beat but also something totally "else".
Will there be an engineer edition of this game's OST? I'd love to see some of the sheet music.
+Chris Christodoulou +1 to the request for sheet music :)
Favorite song.
...and so he left, with no one left to kill
Don't even own the game and this soundtrack makes me want to buy the game
Lol the little laugh at the end
The only other OST of yours I've heard was Risk of Rain and I can definetly say that you've improved a lot. Bless you, my man.
Also nice Astro Boy pic
+Chris Christodoulou I see, I love both games so I can't really give any unbiased thoughts as well.
Also can you upload The Choir Invisible to RUclips?
Played this game immediately after finishing Persona and man it would be crazy if they could get you on the Altus sound team for some Persona music.
So good thanks chris. Now i wanna see a reaoer cosplay
This is what you hear when you sneak to the refrigerator at night
Ha!
lmao
great style
Καταπληκτικό!
Θενκς, αφεντικό :)
3:26, Feel like the hell
Is this 6/4, except for the break with the synth part it at 2:08? Or am I just feeling this out wrong lol
+Soular Chris seems to have a little penchant for nontraditional... er.. what do you call them? cycles? "The Parrot Is No More" goes on seven beats. Sorry, I'm completely unfamiliar with the terms :)
+anotherfacelessuser they're called "time signatures," and yes, he does! ;D
no, you're right, that part threw me off as well
Gives me chills.
The haunt begins. Time to earn your keep.
I rl feel like a murder when I listen this music and I want to play deadbolt again only for its music.Thx u bro good music
1:04 that same, familiar flow of work...
The game was beta I played so many times I heard this song this song always makes me better
Wait a minute... there's a small part of this song in They Might As Well Be Dead!
Goddamit Chris I got scared by that laugh at the end.
