  • Here I will show you a very easy bow to make for your wreaths, packages, or Christmas tree. This is a technique that my Grandmother introduced me to about 21 years ago. So before RUclips :) I hope this helps you and is easy for you to make.

I'm pretty crafty (pun intended), but have struggled with other bow-making tutorials on You Tube...mostly because of the twisting aspect. Your bow with the "wrapping" technique and cutting the notches was so much easier and turned out great. My two bows will go on the front pews for our daughter's wedding this weekend!!!!! Thank you so much!

Oh my! How this takes me back to my childhood growing up years! So long ago can't remember if it was in grade school or if my Dad taught me this way but both were with the narrow Christmas ribbon we had in the ancient 50's. It was so hard for my 6 to 8 year old hands to hold that slick thin ribbon steady and get those notches cut without whacking it completely in two! We had hilarious fun trying though. Thank you for the sweet reminder of the good ole years! :)

Your tutorial (especially sharing your Grandma's directions) has gave me the gift of making pretty bows again since I don't have to twist and hold on to all the ribbon. Merry Christmas!

For years I’ve been hand tying bows on my gifts and people love them. But, I’ve always paid others to make my wreath bows. I bought one of those Bowdabras but I don’t know, they just didn’t look right. Today I was making my mother a summer wreath for her birthday and had the old Bowdabra out and thought, let me look on RUclips to see how others use this thing. I just happened to watch your video and oh my goodness I made the most perfect bow. I was beyond excited and very proud of the result. Thanks for the wonderful instruction. I’m subscribed. ✌🏻 & ❤️

WOW! Out of all the bow making videos I've watched, they never seem to end up looking "quiet right" = the shape or size I'm seeking-old school. But you, and Grandma, of course, got it spot on! This is the way I was told. I say told because noone ever showed me. It was more of, "take one apart and figure it out: it's easy." Well I took it apart all right but I could never figure out how it was put together. Your explanation is so clear. I love the way you explain the usefulness of the notches. This is the prettiest bow I've seen and done w/o a device=old-school Craftmanship1!! It is just like the bows on the tops of trees and packages, when Macy's and A&S Strauss would gift wrap gifts @ holidays! Thank you sooo much! See what happens when children sit with their grandparents. Mine taught me how to mend 😄

Ok here's my story......I'm a beginning crafter meaning I just found out my hobby and love is in crafting and now I'm excited and trying my hands at everything. I made a card box for my friends anniversary that she's throwing for her parents. I finished the Cardbox tonight for the event tomorrow and said its perfect except I need a huge satin cascading bow, went to meijer and they didn't have what I was looking for so I went to the craft aisle picked up 2 rolls of black satin ribbon and said to myself, if your a crafter than why not make what your visualizing. So I came home got on RUclips and found this video and took a crack at it. You had great instruction i fully got the concept, had coated twist wire and said let's go, I went, the bow came and I'm overjoyed, my card box looks sensational now, thank you for sharing your grandmother secret, I will be teaching it to my granddaughter too.
