Wait a sec… After reading previous videos comments, I was under the impression you were/are a Beneteau rep. What kind of Beneteau rep is posting a video saying that a Jeanneau sailboat is a “Clear Winner”? 🤔 I’m so confused. One things for sure… You are gonna be in big trouble when your boss sees this. 😳. I love these comparisons. They are equally entertaining and informative, by far my favorite channel!
I really like both of these ALOT. IMO, the direct drive of the 349 over the 341 sail drive makes her the winner. Even if I had 1/4 million to purchase new.
With that said, I don’t think I can take the suspense an longer, waiting for the 380 vs. 381 gunfight.
I’m gonna start looking into a sprinter van conversion, painting it brown, and calling her Russet

I didn’t realize the Beneteau had a sail drive. Now I’m even happier I got the 349!
I like the DS (deck salon) concept available in the Jeaneau (quite similar to this vessel). You get much more interior volume, headroom, much better light, and views from the larger windows.
I would be interested to see the Hanse 348 compared to these two. Look at comfort in a seaway and stability.
I’ve had my 349 for about a month now. She is a great boat. Easy to sail and extremely agile. Beneteau looks like it may have a tad more storage but looks very similar.

This is the content needed.
The problem is that a 7 year design difference (2014 vs 2021) today is unlike any other time in the past.
That is, a 1994 PSC (or even ben/jen?) is pretty much the same as a 2001. So, why not take advantage of depreciation.
However, what's happening today in boating is that it's gone through a huge tech development cycle similar in many ways to smart phones.
It seems a combination of racing influence (coming from class 40) and composites has really altered the game that makes modern boats so different
Once people realized just how fast & stable the rectangle rules that created the modern bow, hull, beam shape are, it changed everything on the mass market side.
Then, on the build side, AirBus, Boeing et al were really perfecting composites 10-15 years ago for both military and commercial aircraft parts.
Now, the end result is that with efficient, inexpensive VIP techniques coming way down in cost, they show up in everyday consumer items, including boats.
So what we have now is stronger, lighter, quicker, safer, faster and more stable boats. I'd be afraid that even a 2014 would feel behind the curve.

I own Jeanneau 349 year of manufacture 2018.
After watching Beneteau 34.1, I immediately thought that Marc Lombard had dusted off and improved his 2014 project in small detail for a new project from 2021.
For me, therefore, Beneteau is 7 years behind in development, replacing the older Beneteau 35 model with a "copy" of Jeanneau 349 from 2014 and presenting it as a novelty in 2021.
And I'm not comparing the price yet.
Could you do a comparison between the Beneteau 34.1 and the VIKO S 35, please?

Compare these boats to the Dehler 34 and the Hanse 348. And this time please explain the difference in rigging for the headsail and mainsail on these different boats, I.e., are they both trimmed at the helm or not, etc.?
Does the 349 have the smooth cockpit to deck transition? Nevermind,I'll look it up.
Both boats are designed by Marc Lombard and if you look at both designs they are both very similar. The 349 is still and up to date boat despite its age.
Thank you for this comparison. The Jeanneau is my winner due to the price only. I would like you to comment on the set up regarding furled head sales versus code zero verses asymmetrical Spinnakers, how do we know we’ve got a good set up if we buy a used boat? Can you provide your insight. Thank you great video as usual.

And it would have been cool to compare brand new price of each, and used 2021 349 to used 2021 30.1, apples to apples so to speak.....
notice that the Beneteau in all of the utubes show the boat in the light interior (oak) but that is not the standard interior. it is an upgrade. Same with much of the exterior grey color and performance items.
What is the price difference buying new?

keep in mind, that you can't really get a beneteau 34.1 in US. they are still on order. the first ones coming in will be loaded with items to maximum profits for the dealers, but it may not be equipped the way someone wants it. there is one in FL listed at about 100K higher than a new Jeanneau 349. I was thinking about placing an order for a Bene 34.1 but they are about at least a year out for delivery right now. With economies slowing down, maybe the availability of the Beneteau wil increase.
If you want to do older boats a Hunter 340 vs Catalina 34 mk2 would be fun.
Would be nice to see a Jeanneau 39i vs a comparable Beneteau. Wife and I have been loving your information, looking to move on the water this year.

Chris I dont see an issue. I will just strol down to the Beneteau office an tell them I got a cool 100K for that nice Oceanis, that should not be an issue. Well maybe it was as they told me I can leave anytime haha.
I would pick up the 349, not just because I sailed it already, but due to the fact that there are years of experience with that yacht. I never would pick a brand new model from anything (cars, phones, etc) not just because of money, I don't like being the first to find out some issues in the first few units.

thank you, the beneteau 473 will offer a lot more livable, usable space than the Catalina, Catalinas tend to be over priced and offer little value compared to what is available on the market
That's interesting - from what i've read most ppl are saying the Catalina has more livability space than the Bene - I definitely prefer the brighter interior & layout more with the Catalina...
@@TripsToInfinity they are wrong, I am right ;) the Catalina 470 for instance has LWL: 42.00 ft -LOA: 47.67 ft m -Beam: 14.00 ft , and the Benteau LWL: 43.83 ft / 13.36 m LOA: 46.92 ft / 14.30 m Beam: 14.16 ft / 4.32 m the benteau is far larger as far as livable space than the catalina you are referring to, I have sailed both several thousand miles

probably a closer comparison would have been the previous Beneteau model, the 35.1. The new 34.1 with its hard chime really expands the interior volume. it will simply come down to availability. by the time the new Beneteaus are available there will probably be a new Jeanneau. Don't get me wrong, for a "34" foot boat, what an improvement over 20 years ago. One thing that I have not liked about the Jeanneau is that if you get the 2 cabin version, you don't have a large opening lazzarete. thus all of that storage is not as accessible compared to the Beneteau. both have the interior accessibility via the head, but the Beneteau has the nice lg lazzarete.
How about, on the other end of the size scale, a Hallberg Rassy 57 vs Hylas 57
Build quality of the Jeaneau is a much better
How about Sirius 40 ds vs Moody 40 ds
