All thailand tips in one, kapunmakrub !
That's Sara ! Professional and charming Journalist 😎
Thank you!
Well done Sara, as I have said many times, Sara is so professional, speaks clearly , precisely and with no "umms and arghs ", a real asset to The Thaiger, lovely personality to go with the brains , the full package x
Thanks for the compliment, Bruce
need to have this announcement on planes, before arriving in Thailand
Great advise, it's Thailands culture not anyone else's so respect is good. I wish people moving to western countries would do the same .
Awesome video. I'm flying to Bangkok today!
Cool!!
Thanks for putting together this list. I’ve shared it with a friend visiting Thailand to give him a head’s up.
Our pleasure! Hope the video helped your friend
taxi -use grab
street food -recognized markets are fine
crosswalk -is not a catwalk
royal -everybody talks
Someone at Thaiger give Sara a massive pay increase!
Glad you mentioned about Animal Shows.
Hope everyone avoids them. 🙏🇹🇭💯
Nice knowing .. a bit more than I allready knew. Good video .. Thanks! 😃
Happy to help!
Glad you enjoyed it, Pilota!
Wow!! That was an excellent and well done video! Thank you so much. I'm going to visit Thailand in December and even though I knew a lot of that information it was wonderful to have it it all in one place.
Glad to be of help! Hope you have a safe flight to Thailand
@@TheThaiger thank you thiager 🙂
Thank you 😊 that was really interesting, I knew the majority of them but had no idea about the monks, that’s very helpful info.
Always happy to help, Jo!
Always a pleasure watching you
Thank you, Rick
Thanks for all the useful info.
No problem! 😀
@@TheThaiger where are Jay and Natty?
All good advice. I rode a motorcycle in Bangkok for the entire 10 years I lived there. But I don’t recommend it for a novice motorcycle driver. It takes stealthy skills.
These are always helpful even just as a reminder, thanks.
My pleasure!
GOOD job ........ It took me a while to learn a few of these on my own. WATER #1 Yes
of the do's and dont's, is it ok to smash Sara's like button?
I took motorcycle taxis in Bangkok for a number of months before I finally started driving a motorcycle in bangkok. And that's after I had a motorcycle license.
Excellent information. Tks
It's our pleasure, Milagros
Those were awesome tips. But one thing I might add is learn basic Thai before going to Thailand to enhance your experiences in this beautiful country. Most Thai's including those who live in Bangkok do not speak English and will not understand you in trying to communicate with them.
That's true, thanks Richard
Pattaya and Jomtien do speak some English
The first thing I did once I decided I was going to be there for a while was to take Thai classes. That gave me the Comfort level to be able to explore more and enjoy the culture.
@@Daniel-ox2zr absolutely I agree. When you know the language you can go off the beaten path, go where tourists never go and experience the culture and the people in their purist form, the way things really are. And in this country of Thailand those who take the initiative to learn the language find the everyday people as kind loving and unselfish among each other and towards Westerners. Just to add a little insight maybe they feel no animosity or mistrust
towards Westerners because it's one of the few countries in the world that was never colonized.
Sawadee ka and Sobai Di mai ka. I was adopted from Bangkok by white Swedish parents when I was 6 weeks old and grew up in Sweden, and now I'm trying to learn about my native country and learning Thai.
interesting to know bout those info bout thailand😀
More to come! 😀
I get almost everything you pointed out & thanks. Explain why the stripes on the ground are there if drivers ignore them? The rest of what you mentioned is easily understood.
Don't step on money either. Saw a farang get yelled at last month in Bangkok by police because he stepped on a bill
Quite professional presentation. 🙏🏼
Thanks!
Good job,thanks
Thanks!
Very good job!
Thank you!
Very good video, even tho I live in Thailand it was a gentle reminder for me especially putting my feet up on the couch. If I do come to slip up my Thai lady lets me know of my failures.
One important tip i could recommend is don't both raising your voice or get angry, you will always loose, just relax be a buddhist deep breath and smile,
Thanks for sharing!
I felt very uncomfortable pouring water over a young monk’s hand during songkran. I asked everyone around me if i really should do it or if my friend tries a bad prank on me 🙏
I'm confused if this is a guide for Thailand or India...coz it's so similar to India 😍😅
As an Indian I can relate to each n every guide here n can assure it is really followed by ppl there n here too.
Didn't realize it was that similar!
good summary (the finger pointing is classic ...lol)
I prefer to point with an outstretched arm with palm tilted upwards. Better than finger pointing.
😀
very helpful sara. some are indelibly burned on the brain--drinking water eg. others are forgotten-- shoes off etc. by the way , if they're no good for humans, why do zebras get their own crossing?
Try to get glass water bottles as I do in Nakhon Sawan. I get a big case of them for my home named SINGHA DRINKING WATER it is a great idea because the plastic bottle is terrible for the environment and the plastic leaks out into your body and you get poisoned by that fact.
@David List And where will you get the water to put in your glass bottle if you are not supposed to use tap water, out of a plastic bottle. Recycle your plastic bottle and it will not be bad for the environment. I have two t-shirts that contain recycled plastic bottles and you can now get socks from plastic bottles and coffee grounds.
@@rayfreeman2305 and every time you wash your clothes you will be sending plastic particles down the drain…
@@smellysock8406 not if you wash them by hand.
Those particular 'particles' you mention get diluted by the earth overtime, mankinds taking out of her and refining will eventually be re-filtered and reduced back to it's amalgamated dirt form after 500 years. They can compress and make artificial diamonds from plastic also.
Sara can you do a program about how Thais react to the supernatural ? . I just watched a Thai film about the krassu called the KIss .
We'll keep this in mind!
How much does the Thaiger contribute to help feed the elephants in Thailand? Do you think that the elephant owners can afford to feed their best friends without the help of tourists?
The average Laotian can survive on about $60USD to Bhat conversion per month. I suspect China's new railway system there to be another debt trap, we will see if it lives up to its purported economic mutual benefit.
OK - So why doesn't the government have better standards on tap-water? Thai's should demand(!)/insure it from their local health ministries. Bottled water is terrible for the environment, is often re-bottled local water for 6k the amount of money(!) with less stringent health standards. And the plastic bottles are derived from oil, adding even more toxins to the local environment. FIX THIS, LOCALLY (please!!). Locals can do it if they demand it. Make it happen.
Locally we in Thailand use osmosis water stations and refillable jugs (you'll see them all over the place.) Or install water filter system in the home.
Thailand water is probably safer to drink than most water in many American cities, which I guess is now a low bar.
@@RetiredInThailand That sounds sounds great/impressive - but where's the data...? ps - additionally, I see are LOTS of plastics usAge for nearly every manner of commerce/food containment/packaging. All plastics are a major ecological toxin and CO2 contributor - but clearly most governments have not even tried to curb it's usage (with the exception of parts of Europe).
@@RetiredInThailand and - to be fair - my country (USA) is at least as bad - if not far worse with plastics usage and waste. 😕
@@antfactor well also to be fair most food (market/Street) comes in small plastic bags (similar to 'sandwich bags') but there's not a great alternative. in Canada (my home country) I'd be getting bulky styrofoam containers instead of much more less material intensive 'sandwich bag' type container.
@@RetiredInThailand There are better (though perhaps not 'less expensive' alternatives) on a mass scale, which are safer, and bio-degradable. The source of the problem is that businesses use whatever is 'cheapest', and petrochemical products have been bolstered by ridiculous tax-breaks, incentives, and unfair competitive economic advantages from numerous lobbyists to squelch any other products to compete in the same market-place. One only has to consider what we used BEFORE these plastic packaging alternatives were available which drastically changed the consumer landscape. My theory: If plastics were suddenly cut-off - industries would VERY quickly find alternatives and scale them up to market positive levels.
Anyone else find the background 'music' downright annoying?
Buh buh buh duh
More like "common sense" than "life saving" advice
"common sense" is not common to all countries of the world; therefore it is good to precise things when travelling to a country with a different culture from yours.
@@ianlive8787 yeah, but don't drink the tap water, secure your belongings, avoid animal shows, don't trust strangers, don't put your feet on the table/arm rest .. this sounds to me like almost global advice.
life saving to not be critical of you know who, unfortunately.
It’s all a bit remedial travelling 101, really.
