If you're active duty, why not just upgrade your Venture to the VX?
In your case will there not be a net $400 credit vs $5 for those that pay it?

That's a good point, I plan on upgrading to the Venture X when Capital One gives me the option to do so!

do you use any specific one for rent? or any suggestions for a rent credit card?

I don't have one for rent since I pay a mortgage at the moment but the best one for rent by far would be the Bilt Rewards card.

I'm not sure what you mean by approval rate, do you mean for getting the card?

What card would you use if you were buying a new computer or a car?

For a new computer, I'd probably look for an AMEX Offer that gives a significant discount at either a store like Best Buy or a brand like Dell (which is often an available offer for like $200 off or something). For a car, it's a bit trickier because a 20k or more charge is something you'd have to call your card issuer about before making the purchase, and from my experience the most likely ones to approve that are the Platinum or Gold (which don't have a credit limit since they're charge cards). That being said, my limit on my Delta SkyMiles Reserve is about 30k so I could put a purchase like that on that card to rack up some miles.
