Worth mentioning as well in regards to those dragy times, both were tested on the same day and same (private) road, all on low boost files for as close comparisons, as you can see they pretty much performed identically. Both good inductions, but agree with Steve. Don’t personally see the ITG to be restrictive in terms of not being able to get air 😀
Great video, Steve! Personally I’d love to see more intake comparisons with the Standard or ST200/Mountune box to see if the closed/panel filters keep up with the more expensive intakes such as the ITG, Revo, Airtec etc.
The thing i've noticed most about increasing the performance is actually decreasing resistance. I had a standard airbox and a paper panel filter when i first got the car. I obviously put a K&N panel filter in straight away and struggled to notice hardly any difference. I then cut away the bottom part which sits near the boost pipes that come from the cold side of the intercooler. This made the most difference as i actually noticed a difference. And all i did was reduce the restriction which allowed the Turbo to pull more air. Now all a induction kit does is exactly this however there is down sides a standard induction kit will heat soak slightly. The ITG is designed to avoid this being under the headlight. I've got the SD induction kit which is actually quite good. I noticed a slight increase from my modified stock airbox however on hotter days i do notice it heat soaks as performance does drops slightly when intake temps hit top 30s on hard pulls. So i fabricate my own heat shield and also a mini heat shield which sits where the corner of where the rad is just under where the stock airbox air feed attaches. As alot of heat is kicked off around here. This helped lower the heat soak as i saw a noticeable reduction in intake temps vs ambient temps.
I've had the itg for 4 months now I bought it second hand with a secondary hose for £150. I'd notice a difference straight away compared to the mountune air box I had. I'd recommend the itg its a good bit of kit and sounds insane. My fiesta will going stage two after lockdown. Another great vid btw.

I never understood this argument about where the placement is and about it not getting enough flow. You have to think of the intake as a straw in the bottom of a glass. Push it flat against the bottom and you get no fluid through it. Raise it just a tiny bit and you get full flow through it. When you look at the itg for flow you cannot incorporate the actual foam section. If you were to remove all of the foam and just have the backing plate then where that meets the pipe is the end of your straw. So the foam could be right up against the bumper but you still aren’t restricting the flow into the pipe.
I think a lot of people talk about stuff they don't know anything about... Even if the filter was partially pressed against the bumper, as long as it was firmly mounted it's not going to suck up against the bumper.

I'm considering changing the stock air filer on my M140i (itg do one), but the issues I have with this, are : I don't think there is really any performance gain, & I do have worries that more dust particles will end up going through the itg filter compared to the stock one.
A really interesting thing to do is to have the camera filming the filter whilst driving in heavy rain. I have this filter and after washing car the filter gets soaking wet.
Doesn't hurt the car at all getting wet really. I have water injection plumbed in so a little filter water passing though is nothing compared to that 🙃
@@Sparkplugsteve My guess would have been that it should be ok. Lots of people run this kit without issue. Just not so good for my OCD knowing it's getting wet potentially when driving in the wet or washing the car. The kit is amazing though, and sounds much better in person than RUclips videos sound.

There's varied opinions on that due to the turbo heating up the air anyway. Some think flow and volume is more important. But the pics from Jordan include the iat
Thats not right thou as the maf sensor is reading the correct air flow. Aet have done a test on both itg and standard st180 or 200 and the itg out performs all the way across the rev range. The new aet larger filter which id bascially an itg copy but larger gives good bhp gains. Also to note that to much airflow can cause the maf sensor to fault read causing limp mode.

I got an itg on my clio 182 its been on it for 12 years+! Still sounds and works amazing! The best aftermarket filter ive ever had! Had K&n and others...
The airflow itself on an open filter isn't as important imo as it will take as much as air as the turbo is taking and the air will come from the path of least resistance. I would be more interested in the air temp as I always thought it would be taking in hot/warm engine bay air. Also any air flow and temps would be different and different speeds. Probably gets too technical lol.
good video, wouldn't a air flow meter be better.? But the filter seems fine, I image its not optimal, but I recon its better than one in hot engine bay.

That filters manky, you’ll notice a difference with it clean, I clean my k&n once a year and it’s amazing how dirty they get 👍🏻
just out of interest, do you use a proper k&n cleaning kit to clean/oil ur filter or do you have a £ saving alternative method you could share?

My car feels faster after I cleaned my k & n panel filter after 25k. Get it cleaned I bet you will notice a difference.
