It’s sad that the automotive industry does this so we feel that we have no choice but to take it to a mechanic and they charge an arm to replace it when it was a quick fix. I remember changing out my old air filter without having to go through this whole obstacle course on my Altima.
Just got done changing the filter in our Jeep Compass and it literally took me 7 minutes to do it. Thank you so much for posting this very educational video.
Remember when all you had to do was squeeze the ends together on the glove box and it was RIGHT THERE?!? No screws, no pulling apart the dash. 5 min job tops. Good times. Wtf is this..
You Can actually still do that on many vehicles including these jeep compass's. I just did it on my parents 2022 and I just dropped the glove box down amd out of the way amd saves from dealing with the 6 other screws and push clips
@superpater1 They must have changed it from the 2021. Either way, my Compass is dead. A Prius pulled in front of me and I rolled it over. I have a 2022 Cherokee now. Hopefully I can keep this one rubber side down.
Gotta love how impossible they make it to do your own maintenance on your vehicle, especially Jeeps. Thanks for the easy step-by-step. I’d rather do things myself if I can & save a few bucks.
Great video thank you! I was trying to figure out my new compass and it seems like they made it a real hassle to get to the cabin filter. Excellent video again thank you!
I don't sorry - cabin filters aren't typically sold by size and each brand has their own part number. They can be found just by the year, make and model of vehicle
Why the hell do I have an extra T25 screw left over when I put all the screws back were the belong .....? 3 on top 2 on the bottom 1 on the right and 1 on the bracket plus a Philip on the plastic cover ...So were did I get this extra T25 screw from did it twice to double check and no clue any ideas???
The 2 screw underneath the glovebox are not accessible in my compass cuz what looks to be the paasenger side airbag is mounted right there! Any ideas anyone?
Hey thanks for the video , i have my right air vent blocked (the one near the passenger door) for some reason no air seem to come out not even little . What could be the cause ? All other 3 vents work perfectly .
Just had this done and was told there was a mouse nest with five dead mice on top of my cabin air filter, how is that possible when I don’t see any room ?
Cabin filters don't really have "sizes", there are part numbers but each brand of filter uses its own part number. Places that sell cabin filters will sell them by year, make and model of the vehicle - rather than a specific size or part number itself.
You actually don't need to remove the whole assembly. Doing so just gives you more working room but you can just remove the glove box itself like you mentioned and still get the same access to that Brace which is in a poor location for my liking and the filter access can pop out the same. Less screws to worry about
Awesome video incredibly stupid design by Jeep. Should just follow Honda's. Open the glove box all the way squeeze the sides in and the box falls all the way open. Way to go Jeep for the simplicity 🙄 like why even put that stupid brace on it. It's all shit to make things harder for the common person
To force us to pay whatever ridiculous amount the dealer wants to charge for that job. My Hyundai dealer tried to get me for $55 and its the same process as the Honda. What makes it worse is l chnaged it two months prior, so l know rhey didnt even check it.
Bless you bro 🔥🔥. It's insane that we have to go through all of that just to change a cabin filter.
I know 🤷🏾♂️
Dude it really is! my sister has this vehicle. Meanwhile my 18 Honda Accord takes maybe 10 seconds lol
$$$
just did one and i was like wtfff all this just for a filter i was sweating 😂

You're Welcome!
Great video. Straight to the point, no extraneous story telling, etc...
Thanks! Glad it helped
This is from India. Changed the cabin filter myself after watching this video. It feels good doing it by yourself. Thanks a lot. God bless you.
Glad it helped!
Wow FCA has lost their marbles!! This is an insane amount of work just to replace a filter!
My patriot was so easy. Now I got this 2020 pos.
Just want to say THANK you. Successfully replaced mine today after mechanic wanted to charge ridiculous amount for it.
You're Welcome! Glad it helped!
Thank you for showing this
Another master engineering design by Jeep
Remember when all you had to do was squeeze the ends together on the glove box and it was RIGHT THERE?!? No screws, no pulling apart the dash. 5 min job tops.
Good times. Wtf is this..
Control!
My ‘19 Jetta is still like that

@larrygreen492 that's unfortunate man but for sure rubber side. Mopar4life!
This video helps me like every 6 months. Thank you!
You're welcome!
Appreciate it, bro.
Just changed the filter on Mom’s Compass with this video.
Glad it helped!

$$$$$$ for dealers and mechanic
Now we have an idea where this BS!!! It's going
Next huge BS!!! With the electric cars
Glad it helped
Great how to. Straight to the point and plenty information.
Thanks!
Great video thank you! I was trying to figure out my new compass and it seems like they made it a real hassle to get to the cabin filter. Excellent video again thank you!
You're Welcome!
Perfect explanation, very detailed at perfect pace. Congrat !! Thanks
You're Welcome!
Very helpful, thought it came out another way. What a surprise! Good details.
Glad it helped!
Was scared to tackle this, but you made it easy. THX!!
You're Welcome!
Thank you so much for this video. Trying to help out a friend with this. Doesn't look tough at all just have to have the right tools. Thanks !!
You're Welcome! Glad it helped

You're Welcome!
Thanks!
Thank you so much! We really appreciate it!
Followed instructions to the T. Got that fresh filter in. 👍🏽
Nice!
Great video!
Thanks!
Nice thanks for your video
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
You wouldn’t know the size, would you? I couldn’t read the numbers on it. Thanks.
I don't sorry - cabin filters aren't typically sold by size and each brand has their own part number. They can be found just by the year, make and model of vehicle
Great job 👍 one of the best diy videos I've seen. You covered everything in a short time. Fantastic 👏
Thank You!
Can we see and spray clean cooling coil from there?
Why the hell do I have an extra T25 screw left over when I put all the screws back were the belong .....? 3 on top 2 on the bottom 1 on the right and 1 on the bracket plus a Philip on the plastic cover ...So were did I get this extra T25 screw from did it twice to double check and no clue any ideas???
Thanks for the Video. This is really a great Job: very clear and understandable.
Thanks! Glad it helped
The 2 screw underneath the glovebox are not accessible in my compass cuz what looks to be the paasenger side airbag is mounted right there!
Any ideas anyone?
I don’t know if I’ve said it but your amazing great detail.job done i minuets thank you once again they wanted to charge me 85 for this job!!!
Glad it helped!
Thank you for the video! Time to make the change for the Mrs
You're Welcome!
Thank you man
Very nice way to show this process😂
You're Welcome!
So stupid how complicated this is for a damn air filter. Thanks for the video. Just replaced it in my wife’s compass.
What a PITA! Im sure the dealer will charge me $200 to change. Thx for video.
Thank you so much. You nailed it, correct tools and everything.
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
Hey thanks for the video , i have my right air vent blocked (the one near the passenger door) for some reason no air seem to come out not even little . What could be the cause ? All other 3 vents work perfectly .
You're welcome - I'm not sure what would be causing a blocked vent
Saved my ass today at the shop, thank you!
You're Welcome! Glad it helped!
Thank you for this video
You're Welcome!
Brooooo!!! Thank you so much! You explained everything perfectly! This man’s doing Gods Work! Lmao
You’re welcome! Glad it helped
Thank you! It was easy:)
You're Welcome!
Very informative 💯👍
Glad it helped!
Thank you I’m going to attempt this myself
You're Welcome!
🙏 I LOVE YOU, MAN !!!!
Thanks!
If i dropped a ring through my defrost vent would it come out here if i opened it up??
it's possible - would be worth a look
Thanks good tips
You're Welcome!
Is it the same for a 2022 jeep compass
Not sure not that - have not done a 2022 yet
Just had this done and was told there was a mouse nest with five dead mice on top of my cabin air filter, how is that possible when I don’t see any room ?
Unfortunately that is not that uncommon - mice can get in very small openings in the vent system such as the air inlet
شكرا لك... العملية صعبة لكنها ممكنة😊
Gracias 🙏
By replacing this will it resolve the musty smell?
Yes, it can help. I would recommend getting a charcoal or carbon activated filter as they will do a better job of eliminating odors.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank you
You're Welcome!
Do you know the filter size ?
Cabin filters don't really have "sizes", there are part numbers but each brand of filter uses its own part number. Places that sell cabin filters will sell them by year, make and model of the vehicle - rather than a specific size or part number itself.
Nothing is made simple anymore. That is just tedious for a cabin filter replacement. Smh
Yeah - a lot of these are harder to change than they need to be
We tried doing that now my jeep doesn't want to turn on. What else can I do to fix it.
The cabin air filter should have no effect on your car starting or not - I think you may have other issues
Totally insane the amount of work required, definitely designed by engineers who don’t have to work on them
Excelente video, felicitaciones
Thanks
Uhmmmm this wasn't simple like I've seen in other vehicles, so I won't be doing it 😑 but thanks for the video.
And this will make my air work again
it can improve airflow but if your air is not working at all you likely have other issues
This video makes the process twice as hard than it needs to be. Just open the glove door and remove by pulling in on the tabs .
Omg so excessive, thanks a lot Jeep!!!
Thanx🙏
You’re welcome!
Yay I can't wait to check if mines dirty... damn... still better than a 2013 dodge ram though lol
Pretty sad you have to remove the whole box when the older ones you could just press the tabs and unhook the dampener and have access to it. Why lol?
You actually don't need to remove the whole assembly. Doing so just gives you more working room but you can just remove the glove box itself like you mentioned and still get the same access to that Brace which is in a poor location for my liking and the filter access can pop out the same. Less screws to worry about
Seems like the 2022 is different
Ridiculously complex compared to any other vehicles. Simplicity and common sense were thrown out the window on this one!
Thumbs down 👎 Fiat/Chrysler
Thanks for saving me a to of cash.
Glad it helped!
I have no idea how to remove those screws lol ill just let the mechanic do it
This robot is just out of your mind, you can unfasten the glove compartment from its hinges, you just have to put it back on the latch
What a nightmare to change this filter.
Great engineering lol
No way this can be done in 7 minutes, unless that's dog minutes. It's at least a 20 to 30 minute job, even when you've done it 100 times
10 mm bolt of course, touché Jeep
What a pain in the ass to do on these newer models fucking fiat Chrysler for ya
Over $60 to have the dealership do this.
Figures - Jeep has to make it extremely difficult to change anything. It's so much easier on my Dodge Grand Caravan.
Unreal.
Why would they do this? 😂
It makes no sense, it takes idiots to invent that, with my Dodge Grand Caravan 2018 it took me 5 mins to change it, with Mazda so easily.
They must be kidding!!!!
Stupidest cabin filter location I've ever seen 50 screws later you finally get to it
Awesome video incredibly stupid design by Jeep. Should just follow Honda's. Open the glove box all the way squeeze the sides in and the box falls all the way open. Never Fiat in the future. Fuck the stupid filter.
Fiat junk
American made crap!
Why so much work for a cabin filter?
I buy Honda....but wife has this pos
Thank you so much
