Sega Tetris - Sega Dreamcast - Intro, arcade and versus mode gameplay [HD 1080p 60fps]

- Mix of gameplay from the various modes in this Japanese only released Noami port. A great fast paced version of Tetris with some added humour and yet more monkeys. The difficulty is aimed a bit too much at professional players but still fun to play. Bonus content can be unlocked by a grab a crane mini game and Sonic the Hedgehog fans will recognise the music used, however each try at the machine costs $100 and we never gained enough money in the video. Some characters also have to be defeated in the versus mode to unlock. Sega Tetris also featured a number of online modes but these are now no longer available.

Release: 2000
Developer: AM1 (Wow Entertainment) / ワウ エンターテイメント

This is much better than the Next Tetris
Who's bright idea was it to make the chicken's wing clip through the wall?
Found out about this game through your video a while back and recently got my hands on a Dreamcast to play it, good lord is it hard (but fun too).
The VS mode is quite difficult--it's quite easy to mess up and even harder to recover from attacks (stage 6 character Lucky took close to 15 tries to topple, she kept sending joint attacks in rapid succession and I had no chance of recovery). There seemingly is no way to lower CPU difficulty in the options, which is a shame as despite the brutal AI the unique battle system is very fun. I also found it easy to misplace blocks, a "ghost" of where it will land as seen in other Tetris titles would've really helped.
Aesthetically, this game is superb, the serene island setting in the main menu and first stage reminds me of family vacations to Galveston, and the other stages are quite pretty. Character design is also very enjoyable, they're all weirdos but fun weirdos (Rocky the kangaroo and robot CP-02 are my favorites). I'd love for the cast to return in some fashion, like maybe as extra characters in a new Puyo game or something.
Overall brutal but addictive puzzler with great graphics and sound, novel mechanics and a lovable cast of characters.
14:34 is a remix of scrap brain zone from Sonic 1
Thanks :D
Very cool indeed, SEGA is the best.
The sound of the blocks sound very nice (rotating)
Gorgeous game. I picked this up a while back and it's rock hard. Would love try out the 2 vs 2 linkup mode.
The link up mode as in system link?
I've played the arcade version of this game at the Round One arcade.
Same, it's kinda a ripoff there though lol
I have a Naomi at home. the arcade version is even faster and there seems to be only 2 characters, the monkey and the dog(?) for player two. Also haven't found a mode select but maybe it can be enabled somehow
None of us have ever seen the arcade version, many of the Dreamcast home ports during this era featured lots of additional content not seen in the arcade version. That maybe the case here.
i know this is old but how do you save money on this for the machine nothing seems to save or i dont know how to check
Sorry, can't remember its not the easiest system mind to work out to get cash for the grab game.
This came out in 2000 or 1999.
Why the dreamcast version has the japan voices?
See the video description for more details on the game.
UFOキャッチャーやってよ
Can you store blocks on this version?
We don't think you could in this one if the team's memory is correct.
Nope, no hard drop either
The dog doesn't even look like a dog why did Sega use this art style
