Of all the sport quads that existed and currently exist today, the Warrior will always be my #1 favorite. Rode the piss out of them back in high school. Would have no problem owning one again!
Same here....grew up in N. Minnesota. Had a White red n black one All Stock 1988 model. In 2 minutes I could be on Nice Gravel Roads. I held that thing Wide Open many times for 10+ Miles at a time. $2.50 to fill the tank I think at 1.00/gal. I did my own oil changes with 5W30 conventional. It Never broke down on me in 4 Years other than I had a cpl flat tires and chain fell off. My friend Marlow at the time had a Blue and White Banshee...a 90'. Another friend had a Scrambler. We lived in Roseau....Home of Polaris. I had an Indy 500 sled too...a 90'. Fun times
Seeing this makes me want to buy one so bad! I see them anywhere from $500-$3000 on FB marketplace. I like to think I’m handy with a wrench so thinking about restoring one. Great video!
Nice quad. I am in the process of putting mine back together. Put a new top end. Bored it out to about a 400. Extended the a-arms 1 inch and 2 inch swingarm. Powder coated everything. It's coming out great. You said it best, " Redic. reliable. " so that's why I rebuilt mine down to the bolts. Great 👍 video. Safe ride and ride safe!!!
I have a current warrior 1998 I’m a bit young and have close to 0 mechanical skills so I don’t work on it much but it sure does last I been riding it about 2 years now first quad I have ever ridden with a clutch there built to last and surprisingly fast amazing for just about anything the one small problem I hate riding with 4 wheel drive quads it sucks in ruts cause of the ground clearance but other than that you can beat the living crap out of this qauds and it well not break just do your oil change and that’s about all I have done it’s quick it’s old and a beater but I taught around 6 people clutch for there first time on thsi qaud 100% recommend for a first time qaud
I had a 97 Warrior back in my 20’s…was $4600 out the door. Couple things I didn’t care for were seat to peg height was to short(for me) & turning radius…but overall was def a fun quad back then. We went to the state forest every weekend summer of 97 & 98. My friends had a Blaster & 300ex. Sold the Warrior in 2003 tho to a co-worker who actually still has it today.
Had an 88 warrior fully rebuilt converted to a 366 cc and a bit more loved that thing but was sadly stolen 2021 now ripping a yfz450 it’s sick but I still find the 88 more reliable with the pull start in case the electric start takes a crap when your far in the trails that was a life saver in the deep woods unlike the yfz 450 and the warriors engine was literally bulletproof 450 it can take a beating that’s for sure
My personal opinion the aftermarket support sucks I deal with parts that don’t fit all the time I only have luck with oem parts I don’t even bother with aftermarket any more
Just bought a non-running 2001 for about 550 at an auction. Overall probably a 5/10 condition. Electrical looks a mess and the carb was frozen (and disconnected). Hoping the bottom end and trans is still good. Gonna try and bring her back.
I'm working on rebuilding my 98 now having starter issues and it's new did the clutch years ago before I put it away. I bout the starter and it's doing the same thing not catching
The Raptor is redesigned. It has mich better and updated suspension and the motor was also revised and it has more hp. So it is based on the Warrior but is more modern.
DOWNFALL:Searching for parts. i’ve been searching for lower A-arms for about a month and have come up with nothing if anyone else has a recommendation on where to find them without spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars all i need is the lower ones and i have found one set and i missed that they were the 350x version and don’t fit my 1996 but if anyone knows what other quad lower a arms are compatible with it lmk i’ve heard of banshee lower a arms on a warrior and blaster lower a arms on a warrior but i’m not 100% sure i severely need help finding these at this point i’m using my last resources and i’m not even sure if this deal is gonna work out either it’s 2-1/2 hours away so if i don’t get them i’m looking at a total loss for now until i do but even an aftermarket oem replacement set is $500 and i’ve only seen one of those oem replacements sets so far.
I havent had the opportunity to ride one but I know spec wise its much more updates than the 350. The motor has a bit more power amd the suspension is much more modern. Everything Ive read is that its a very fun quad I would definitely go for a Raptor 350 over a Warrior. And you may want to look around the Suzuki LTZ 400. Also a great trail quad and a little quicker than the Raptor 350 but still comfortable and has reverse.
I want to get a 95 warrior but does the age of the warrior effect the performance cause 95 is pretty old but will It still be able to do what the modern ones do? Will it be reliable? Or will I have to take it easy on it?
That is a great question. Of course, the older the quad is the more chance things can be wrong with it, but it also really comes down to how well the person took care of it and maintained it. They made the Warriors all the way through 2003 so you could probably find a used one that’s not quite as old as 96. They’re fun to ride quad, but check out my video on five reasons not to buy one and it lets you know some of the shortcomings. Just know getting one, it’s not going to be terribly fast, but it is fun to ride. Yamaha replaced the warrior with the 350 raptor and it does have more updated suspension and a little more power. But I say get what you want it’s your money. Good luck!
@@FunGoingFast I wish I knew how to work on them maybe I’ll start learning on this warrior haha but thank you brotha there pretty fun just get freaked out on the ticking sound on the motor
@@FunGoingFast alrighty, just didnt make much sense to me, as i understand it the handle is connected to both the clutch and the brake. @@FunGoingFast I’m talking bout like do you know the exact lights I wanna get some cause on my warrior I flipped it and it messed the lights up and eventually the whole headlight assembly
Around 18 hp stock. They are fun to ride but there are much faster atvs. A 450 race quad has around 40-45 hp and a 400 ex or 400 LTZ has around 28 hp to give you a comparison.

I still have a 96' warrior and I still love to go on rides with it

Nice video! I’ve been looking for one for a while as I’m a teenager looking to get into clutch bikes. I’ve ridden one xr80 and it was really fun

I have a super busted up one I'm working on
Those can be the best kind. Good luck.
It sat for 6 years and the only issues were the carb battery and tires
sweet atv gonna buy one thanks for the review
Thanks!
bought mine for 200 and only thing wrong with it was a fuel line. lasted forever before trading it for a ttr125
Nice!
Old ones like my 87 has pull start. No battery needed! But 87/88 had bigger lower a arm mounts, mods needed to use new a arms
A back up pull start is super handy.
They can be fast if you know what you're doing to the motor
Get a zoom zoom head a big bore and a stage 2 hot cam
