Hey man, thanks for the really thought out reply. I actually do have a 510C kicking around but I wanted to run the EOTech because I think it’s cooler haha
I think a good 1-6 or a 1-8 would've helped you a lot with the low probability shots and some of the distance shooting. You could run a red dot on a 35 degree offset using an Arisaka mount if you don't like shooting on 1x with an LPVO and really clean up. Maybe you've already tried this setup and didn't like it but if you haven't I'd suggest giving it a shot. I find it to be a very fast all around setup and its great for precision shots. I quite like the Primary Arms PLX-C with the Griffin Mil reticle. The illumination isn't great but they didn't design the scope to be "as good as a red dot". Instead they optimized it as a scope so the 1x reticle is basically a cross hair with a small horse shoe with like a little post within the horse shoe. It is VERY usable on 1x and the 1x is very flat too. The mil grid is excellent and on 8x you have a chevron with milgrid below. It's a very well designed and manufactured scope that is also very light for what it is. Overall you shot pretty well. You just had one of those days on day 1 where you seemed like you weren't really feeling good whether it was physical or kinda mental idk. We've all been there though. It's easy to get into your own head and fuck shit up. I sometimes have to say to myself "shut up and shoot dummy, don't think about it" and that usually helps.
You know I debated running an LPVO but I anticipated mostly close range rifle shooting and didn’t think I would want the extra magnification. I also wanted the option to take the magnifier off to make the rifle feel really light. I still think the problems I had were probably more of a skill issue than gear issue. I actually have an upper with a 1-6 and 35 degree offset and you’re making me question the choice a little but I’m not sure more magnification would have made up for sort of unpolished fundamentals
Shooting 300Y and I prefer Micro 3x MAGNIFIER paired with EXPS3 . I used 1-6 , or 1-8 for a lot of years. Surely you are right LPVO probably would of been better on that one stage . Hitting a 2 targets on a singer at 50ish yards is tough enough with or without LPVO. I personally have 0 issues hitting 6" -10" plates 300Y and in . Rack of people use 3x MAGNIFIER combo because it's easier to shoot with on the move . It's all preference at this point TBH .
@@gunth0ts If I may make a suggestion for the coming year...train with both setups enough that you can use both really well. I understand why you went with the eotech for this match especially because most of the targets were fairly close and eotech is definitely a great optic for shooting on the move and in close quarters and it pairs really well with a magnifier. With that said, the offset dot is super easy to shoot with on the move too. In some instances(as in, certain directions of travel) it is even easier because just for whatever reason having the rifle canted while moving feels very natural BUT I also notice most guys in competition don't shoot a ton WHILE moving but rather move to position and THEN shoot. Some shots are definitely fired on the move but this is just an observation generally speaking. I agree fundamentals are way more important than gear 100% of the time and you cannot buy skill. You can buy capabilities though. It's a tough call really, because most shots in matches are fairly close, like 50m or less for the majority of them and for that kind of shooting a dot/holographic sight is definitely really, really good. But even when the targets are 50-75m away and well within dot territory it can be really nice to have the features of an lpvo on low probability shots which are very very common in rifle matches. I definitely didn't want to call out your skills because I think you're most likely more skilled than I am anyway. I'm not bad and I'm getting better every range trip and I am going to start competing this coming season after I get my wrist fixed. I train every weekend though so that is where my suggestions come from. I've got a lot of experience with rifle from 0-500m. I was mostly a red dot shooter until 2023 when I started running a few LPVOs and especially when using the offset dot with it I've found a lot of the criticisms of LPVOs while accurate are generally way overblown. Ultimately shoot whatever you shoot better and have more fun shooting. I know we are all practicing shooting as a martial art on some level but we are also shooting and competing to have fun so really, do what is the most fun and most effective for you dawg. I look forward to seeing more videos like this one from you, Merry Christmas!
@@seanwhite304 That's awesome dude. I really haven't spent much time shooting with magnifiers but I'll have to get one to try. I shoot a ton of red dot but never with a magnifier. I recently bought a Sig 4xt Pro and its really nice. It would be a great dot to pair with a magnifier so I will get one. Do you happen to know if the eotech magnifier works with a 1.93 mount using the standard flip to side mount?
@@armorers_wrench I do not know if that works . I've heard it does but cannot tell you 100% because I have 0 experience with that setup . I use UNITY FTC and Unity Riser for my setup. I will say I 100% prefer 1.93 over 2.26. I wish they made FTC MAGNIFIER 1.93 Mount with 1.93 EXPS3 Mount . I could probably get IRREGULARS FEER stock RISER and that would fix my issue with touch point on 2.26 height . I used YHM Full Flat Top 1/2" for a solid 6 years . PRI also makes one . I'd definitely pay 38 bucks to see if you like that 2.2" height before spending a bunch of money .Ultimately I prefer the 1.93
