    The greatest guitarist ever to walk on this earth. Nobody, and I mean nobody played with so much skill and passion as Gary.
    R.I.P Gary. We miss you.

    Gary Moore is the greatest guitarist who ever lived. #comeforme. This is not even the best version of this song, you should see him do this song at the jazz festival it was his last performance ever. The video I think is "best guitar solo ever probably" if I have it correct. In that performance Gary melts ears and shreds hearts. What a way to go out RIP Gary Moore

    turn up the guitar and amps up to 10, stand in front of the speakers
    and the note will feed back in a continuous loop

    Fil, a timeless classic. Yes, all that you read out of Sonja's message.
    One of the ways to extend or hold a note (on a electric guitar) is with the use of a pedal, called a sustain pedal.
    #QcumberSquad #GaryMoore - Fil, I'm off back to the study.

      There are pedals and other devices which can do this but the sustain here is generated by a process called harmonic feedback. It is literally the vibrating string being amplified by very loud Marshall amps and being made to carry on vibrating by the pressure of the sound waves coming out of the amps. This creates a feedback loop where the vibration of the string keeps the sound coming out of the amp and the sound of the amp keeps the string vibrating. This is not the easiest skill to master as you have stand in exactly the right place for a particular note for it to work and to hold onto the right note. If you look very carefully you may be able to see gaffa tape crosses on the stage where Gary had found the right places to stand during soundcheck.

      Lol there is no "guitar pedal" creating the sustain on Gary's guitar

  • @Bustefaen
    @Bustefaen Месяц назад

    It is NOT called sustain, which relies on string vibration, wood quality and guitar mechanics. Gary’s Les Paul guitar certainly has good sustain (as does my LP), but he is literally playing with feedback here, where the sound goes in a loop between the speaker and the guitar’s microphone. The «sustain» from this will keep going until you either turn off the amplifier or the guitar (by turning down the volume). It’s a very cool effect, not «invented» by anyone but first popularized by Jimi Hendrix.

  • @johndeeregreen4592
    @johndeeregreen4592 3 месяца назад +2

    With the holding of the note, Fil, this is because the string is still vibrating and the pickups are still, well, picking up those vibrations. The note will continue to ring as long as the string is still vibrating or he releases it. Some other variables to this, but that is the short and skinny of it.
