Simple music arrangements accompanying simple lyrics written by an essentially simple country woman for simple folks equals GOLD MINE! Good on Lorettie. Her songs were obviously autobiographical, and in this particular song I must conclude that Ole Doolittle came home drunk one night and tried to put the freak on Loretta, but she wasn't havin' it, eh? hahaha

@@vincecalvarese6386Exactly. Bill Monroe was a legend at this point in time and definitely a bigger star, while with this song Loretta was hitting the top of the charts for the first time.

What on earth are you talking about. He did not shove her away. He kept his arm around her the whole time she was totally included. You don’t seem to even know the names of the “host” or the “male accompaniment” so the assumptions are out of pocket. Bill Monroe was a huge name in bluegrass and country music back then and him and Loretta had a long friendship. Of course they were going to mention him

Love Loretta, her voice and her songs! Such a treasure and we will miss her greatly. But I’m noticed Conway cutting her off when she was trying to speak… lol. My family and I saw Bill Monroe once at a Cracker Barrel while vacationing in Nashville back in the late 80’s or early 90’s. He was with 2 or 3 other men and they were all dressed very nicely. They had pulled up out front to let him out and they were in this older model, short Cadillac limousine. lol I didn’t personally go up and bother him while he was eating. Although when others did, he was very gracious and appreciative of his fans. I was so glad I got a chance to actually see him in person.
