DigVentures is back on Lindisfarne - a small island in the North Sea that became one of first communities in the British Isles to be raided by Vikings.
Join our Dig Team for a walk around the excavation, and watch as we unearths the remains of burials, a huge metalworking furnace, and more.
This dig was made possible with the support of the DigVentures community.

Back in 2018, a lady came all the way from New Zealand to take part. It's a shame that the pandemic is making that kind of trip too risky at the moment. Hopefully things will improve, now that the vaccines are available.

fascinating, and great animation on the other video.I guess quite a number who were on this dig, will want to return for more, but as a subscriber now, how does one get ones name on the list to go. Presumably first come etc? And I guess some only do a couple of days at a time...how long will next years dig likley be? Days...weeks...more?

Hi Mark! So glad that you enjoyed both our videos from the dig - we think the animation is gorgeous! And you're right - most people who joined us want to come back, particularly to help us solve the mystery around the metalworking area. But as a Subscriber, you'll get priority booking for places on next year's dig as soon as we're ready to release them. Next year's dig will likely be longer than this year's dig (probably 3 weeks in total) partly because we can currently have fewer people on site at any one time. We still have quite some work to do regarding setting exact dates and archaeological targets before we can open up bookings (likely the New Year). We look forward to having you on site with us in 2021 - fingers crossed!

There's always next year! We'll definitely be back - there's so much more to understand, particularly about the metalworking area
