Nemo, I'm so sorry. Remember it is Heavenly Father who allows your family to be together forever, not man made records on earth. Thank you for standing up for truth!
If you look at the church, from the beginning it was as per a good play, 'Religion mixed with the knowledge of Man.' The concept of a heavenly father unfortunately then gets attached to this concept as well. This is what the church leadership has attached to their teachings.

They had already decided in advance. I don’t think anything you could have said or done would have changed that. They were just going through the motions.
That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking. The verdict was already reached even before the court hearing. Nemo was guilty even before he received the first letter.
I’ve been out of the church for many years, but I teared up watching the online vigil last week. I’m sorry this has happened to you. Thank you for doing what they taught us in primary so long ago… choosing the right and letting the consequences follow. You’re a hero to so many of us. Much love from Texas.
Your story sounds somewhat similar to mine. Living in Central TX. Converted as a youth then left over 2 decades ago. I've listened to many of Nemo's discussions here and listened to his comments as a guest on Dr Dehlin's channel. I've enjoyed his highly inquisitive, dry humor and nonconfrontational style. He simply wanted people still active in this church to discuss their hidden history and controversial decisions in recent times without going on the attack. In the end he was condemned and permanently dismissed from his membership for trying to be a space for open dialog. 😢💔 The actions of the LDS Church weren't surprising yet they were deeply hurtful. In retrospect it confirmed how little the culture of the church administration at the highest levels had changed. Leaving was definitely the right decision for me!
Don't leave the church. Its a Beautiful way of life. I know from living in a family from H.e.1.1. and that is an understatement. The Church is TRUE. However, Church is a covenant from Christ. @charlesmendeley9823 - Considering that Amazon didn't exist during the Old and New Testament times, one shouldn't expect it would be mentioned in the Bible. But what IS mentioned in the Bible is Christ's parable of the talents, where the Master asks his servants to invest wisely to increase their portion and principle. Nowadays, successful investments like a shopping mall generate income and interest which can be re-invested in items that directly pertain to the work of Church, such as buiding places of worship like Temples, and providing vast global humanitarian support. What IS mentioned in the Bible is the account of Joseph in Eqypt storing up large supplies in time of plenty to be prepared for times of famine. When lean times came, Egypt had enough for Egypt AND to share with neighboring countries. Nowadays huge warehouses can help store up the plenty. At least one of the former Amazon warehouses has many shipping and loading bays, large enough for a semi truck to back into each bay. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints maintains a huge fleet of semi trucks to be filled to the brim with food and supplies to serve communities in need across the United States, or are ready to drive to an airport or shipping dock to send to communities in need around the world. Someday you might even receive some of that food and those supplies yourself if you face a natural disaster or some other catastrophe.

IMO, it was Nemo’s appearance at the Fairview Texas town council that put the nail in the coffin of his membership. Also IMO being excommunicated from the LDS church 99% of the time means you’re on the right side of…well, mostly anything.Badge of Honor.
Around 50% of councils are due to the sexual behavior of members. It was odd in the early ones I was involved in. I was secretary and had to take notes. These councils were handled at the ward level since accused members were not endowed and had not served missions. I was taking notes for the bishop on what sexual details/encounter the accused member was involved in. They would ask things like how many times they had sex (fornication) or cheated on their wife. It was basic human biology but the council made it like it was shameful before God.
@@caseyjude5472 Not all members of the church are sealed to their wives. They are just married on earth only. @@micheleh3851 Freemasonry is intricately linked to the LDS Church. Joseph reflects anti-Masonic sentiment in the "secret combinations" described in the Book of Mormon, which also pinpoints the writing date after the William Morgan affair (1826). The tide changed in salt lake City, because Brigham Young assumed Joseph Smith had been killed by Masons, stirring an enmity between the two groups. I as a gay mormon stand with you with all of my heart . Before God you have your rights to question . Church leaders are human first ( not perfect) they can and do make mistakes
I did my own research, reading only church approved books, and came to the conclusion that the church wasn't true back in the 90s. This was before the removal of the 'death oath' in the temple or the DNA evidence of no Jewish ancestry in native Americans. The books I read were, King James version of the Bible, The Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, The Doctrine and Covenants, The History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, A Marvelous Work and a Wonder abd Volume One of the Journal of Discourses. Additionally I read Joseph Smith's notebook on the translation of the Pearl of Great Price where the same hieroglyph had two different interpretations on two different pages that I noticed. Also the Missouri state archives on the Mormon wars where Brigham Young was hired by Joseph Smith to run the Missourians off their land even after the Mormons were given land by the Missourians. And of course the Mountain Meadows Massacre where some of the victims were also victims of the Missouri Mormon war. My bishop, who worked at the same corporation, stopped by my office and was talking about how my home teachers didn't like coming to my house. He proceeded to tell me that if I no longer wanted to be a member I could submit a letter of resignation. I asked him who I should address and what I should say in the letter. After which I printed it out and handed it to him. He wouldn't accept it and told me I had to mail it to Salt Lake, which I did. A few weeks later I received a rather cordial letter from the church authorities stating that i had been removed from the church records but was always welcome to rejoin if I saw fit. This is much better treatment than Oliver Cowdery who submitted his letter of resignation but to this day the church states that he was excommunicated even though he moved to Salt Lake after the death of Joseph Smith and rejoined the church. Can you guess why Oliver Cowdery resigned from the church? Can you say Fanny Alger? You're in good company Nemo.
I love you guys, even though I don't completely understand why you continue to devote time and energy to what is, to any moderately informed and open-minded person, a self-serving and malignant organisation. May your tireless work give you experience and be for not only your good but for the good of others out there in the mists of darkness. For my part, the futile bickering going on in the comments here has been a good reminder that I am fortunate to have gotten out when I did and that I must use my remaining time to do actual good in the world rather than give the Mormons any more of it.
NeverMormon here. I need help to understand Nemo's obvious pain. I feel his pain with him, but I don't think it is based on being unheard and mistreated. He knew that would be the result. Is the LDS Church not the product of a charlatan prophet and all sorts of peculiar doctrines which don't interface with reality as modern people know it? Also a leadership that is not trustworthy beyond any group of males with similar unaccountable power? After Nemo has subtracted what is false and wrong about the Church, what is left that causes him this pain? (I have ideas, but I would only be guessing wildly.)Thank you for your input.

It’s a lot like leaving an abusive relationship. Yes, there’s a million reasons to leave, but there’s mourning of the life that could’ve been as well, the ideal life you were promised your whole life growing up
The only thing he's losing is the ability to publicly cosplay his membership. THis is all a scripted plan - it just took his local leadership longer to do than he thought. It will make it harder for him to say "I'm an active member, sho you should give me credibility," but only people who hate the Church buy into that schtick anyway.
I wasn't excommunicated, however I did remove my membership. Even tho it was my choice, it was still a tough one. The right thing for me to do, but that didn't make it easy to process. Take care of you, Nemo. We appreciate you a great deal.
What weakens the faith of members is when the leaders don't have enough faith in God to take care of the church that they believe they have to sweep things under the rug or keep people from asking questions. If it's God's church trust him to preserve it in the face of scrutiny.
51:57 Yesterday I met a man whose little brother was excommunicated in the 1980's as a teenager by his LDS bishop for wearing a lavender-colored "Miami Vice" style suit to church. Bishop called his father in, the father did not see what the problem was, so the bishop did the chop chop.
I am a Scots Presbyterian and I kiss the foot of your garment for the courage you have shown. In spite of your excommunication, which I consider to be bogus, as once you have dedicated your life to Jesus you are bought by the Holy Spirit and no human can part you from the eternal relationship you have with Jesus. If you believe in Christ then you will have eternal life and no man or women will stop you from your eternal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is a political action not a holy one that has seen you cast asunder by a institution built on sand. May the Lord bless you for your integrity which shames the devil. Kind regards, Graham.
Nemo I am heartbroken for you and your family. With social media and people like you exposing problems with the church, it has made it easier for people seeking the truth and untruths about the church. Keep up the amazing work you do. You are loved, supported and appreciated more than you know. 💞
Someone else may have mentioned this but in case not - Dallin Oaks has said it's wrong to criticize church leaders, even if the criticism is true. Nemo violated this direction and that's what they're upset about. The LDS church has long viewed any type of questioning of the church and/or its leaders done in a public way as an attempt to undermine members' faith. Meaning if you talk about your doubts or point out problems you think you see with anyone but your assigned church leaders, they view it as an attempt to undermine others' faith. Your experience is just a reminder that the church is an authoritarian organization run by abusive control freaks and narcissists. They want people to do what they're told and not "talk back" in any way.
Sympathies and congratulations Nemo! Yours is a bittersweet victory in my view, one where spirit rules over dogma and viscousness hiding behind a self righteous mask. So, well done you. What I really want to know is exactly who ordered the Stake President to excommunicate you, and better still who ordered them. You deserve to know the lineage of the clear demand to get you out. I have my suspicions but they are only speculative, and will remain so since the Church operates in secret and deeply fears honest, open communication. You have my admiration.
Not to be insensitive, but I have yet to find one thing that I miss from my membership. I'm just saying you have nothing to worry about. Love you, brother!
I grew up Catholic in Mesa, Arizona, but had a lot of Mormons friends growing up who never successfully converted me. Some friends stuck with me and eventually left the Mormon Church in their 30s through their own journey and conclusions. Anyway, I know you were trying to change the church from the inside but congratulations on being excommunicated! I would throw an excommunication party. That's an amazing accomplishment! Around 50% of councils are due to the sexual behavior of members. It was odd in the early ones I was involved in. I was secretary and had to take notes. I’d say it’s more likely that the SP was a pawn and was doing what he was told by higher ups- as he has covenanted to do.
Nope

Nemo caught the Master Lawyer in a lie and was public about it. Any appeal would be denied by Dallin H Oaks on the golf course.

You are sadly correct. A man in our stake choked his wife for using his vintage collectible automobile to pick up their daughter from school since her car would not start. He was not excommunicated.
General authority Paul H. Dunn was not excommunicated, even though he lied about his personal life and accomplishments for decades. He was merely "retired." And I assume that he got his pension checks until he died.
@@randyjordan5521 ya but Paul didn’t have video footage of Russell and David saying size didn’t matter when they needed to build s tall steeple. At least we know Nemo wasn’t excommunicated because of some grievous sin.
I was told the handbook said no church court could be held until the criminal was in prison! Then only for a federal crime and if the stake presidency was willing. No official notice of the results was required to be given to those affected by the crime. I was however, informed by a counselor in the stake presidency who also presented the impact of the crime on my family.
I know this for a fact, the ex has had no consequences for having an affair so obviously the rules on excommunication has changed. 11 years ago in my previous ward 2 priesthood members were released from their callings and excommunicated for what the ex did.
Since they vehemently abdicated the term Mormon, I’d say it’s still yours to keep. Don’t change it.
Agreed! He’s still a Mormon at heart in the community sense of the word.
He is still a Mormon, but he is not a member of the Corporation of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints anymore. 😅
As a member of the Church, I wish you well.
CONGRATULATIONS! I know it doesn’t feel good right now. But you have been set free. Enjoy the freedom to live life on your own terms. Take it as a badge on honor! The world is so much bigger than this business. Besides your tithing won’t go to play the stock market anymore. You have freed up so much time to discover who you are without some old attorneys trying to silence you! Live it up, take up swearing, go discover the world. Be proud of yourself. Seriously! I have been out for over 2 decades and life is so much better on the outside. I didn’t have a community of support, looks like you do. Just incase no one says it. I’m proud of you!
I'm so sorry you had to go through this. 😢
Hey Nemo! Thanks for your messages and keeping us updated. 🤍
Sorry for your loss and the personal hurt. I can hear the pain and hurt in your voice ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼👍🏻🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️
We are here for you Nemo!
Nemo:
“I am going like a lamb to the slaughter, but I am calm as a summer’s morning.
I have a conscience void of offense towards God and towards all men.”
I’m sorry you are going through this. Your panelists are excellent!
I decided to leave the church prior to this. This just cements it more. I am so sad with how good members (just trying to do what is right because we are taught that in the faith) are treated. Jesus weeps.
I am the same as you. Hearing these things helps me, but also shocks me, as to why I wasn't smart enough too see the hypocrisy decades sooner.
I as a gay mormon stand with you with all of my heart . Before God you have your rights to question . Church leaders are human first ( not perfect) they can and do make mistakes
So sorry Nemo. Sending love and support.
The Indians knew there were Hebrews here and Jesus . You shouldn't give up your search because of those details.
So much Love to you ! I am sorry this came this way !
The Holy Spirit will ALWAYS be with you and the church can't control that.
On the bright side, you got out of the church for free. I have to have a letter notarized.
😂
You're an extraordinary human being!
Never mo here, but I imagine it's the loss of his community.
@@duncansonoryanyes, after given your life, time, and treasure over to an organization one erroneously believed to be true is a huge betrayal. The membership will follow in lockstep and friendships will vaporize as if you’ve never been. Persona non grata…
I think Nemo's sign off catch phrase should be: Stay Salty. Mostly cause the name Nemo makes me think of the ocean.
Calling out lies and asking questions and challenging bad policies so often leads to this kind of thing
Goodbye Nemo, it’s been nice, hope you find your paradise!!!
I just wonder how many will leave as a result of this. The ripple will penetrate GB
This looks worse for them in this day and age. You have your voice.
It’s a voice without membership though. Sadly, people will keep sending him money for his misinformation. The grift will go on.
🎯💯

Appropriate action taken by the church. Nemo is free to continue making money from his clear and direct opposition to the church.
@blakeforeman7648 I think you misunderstand.
@blakeforeman7648 still didn't make me think of anything I miss.
@blakeforeman7648 not so fast...Quick draw.
You're so cool because you have the ability to question things that others are afraid to question and they probably wish they had the guts to change things. Hopefully your family still supports you. I know that part can be rough.
