I am a retired ironworker. When the Democrats were in we worked. When the Republicans were in we were on the bench. That’s the way it has always been. Unions negotiated for a livable wage and if it wasn’t for them non union would not get what they get.
My dad was a union Boilermaker, same thing. My mom union Retail Clerks, me too at one time. Always did better with Dems in charge. Now I’m an SEIU member since 09 and will retire from there. Union membership provided benefits for myself and my siblings growing up then again for my children. My parents were taken care of in their retirement years because of their union membership and I will be too. I’ll keep voting 💙 because I know who’s doing work for the people. I also know who’s actively working against the people and I’ll never support that. Union strong✊🏼

This is too funny. The RNC didn't know what they were getting into putting him on the schedule to speak. And audience members are clapping all through his speech oblivious to the fact that the Republican platform is completely at odds with unions and the points he makes.
Oblivious - but they know they support the worker. That's a fault line that can be exploited. I don't know many blue collar workers who are in love with their bosses or their landlords. You can even hear some uncertainty in the applause. At first I wasn't sure how to feel about him speaking to the RNC, but the more i think about it, the more i support it. The working class message has to be made before conservatives.

Democrats are definitely all about traditional aspects of the Constitution that promote and protect personal freedoms. If by "traditional" you mean "Christian values", even then Democrats could be viewed as traditional since many are Christian and follow the message. The Republican party's shift to Christian Nationalism is arguably not entirely traditional, its viewpoint on the role religion should play in American politics is somewhat new. And Project 2025, which has objectives that are contrary to the Constitution, is non-traditional. Also, regarding generations of Republicans, likewise there are generations of Democrats.

I am an 18 year Teamster (local 170). In March I had asked my shop stuart, why the teamsters would give the RNC $45,000? To me, it seemed to go against workers values. I now understand that, that was the price of admission. In order to have our voices heard by an audience that didn't care to hear from us. Now the world is watching. Thank you, Sean!

I retired early with a Pension in 2010 from a Union Job in Texas. Today that same company has done away with the unions abilities to negotiate and currently doesnt offer a pension and eliminated other benefits. Growing up in a Conservative household I never questioned the Republican Party but my eyes became wide open after I retired and realized they are not the same Party. They never really worked for the working class and today its so much worse. I'm also a Vet and found out this Project 2025 actually goes back to 2017. If not for the Pandemic many of these restrictions proposed for us Vets wouldve already been instituted. The ting is once they take effect because Republicans owe the Supreme Court you will get them back.

Having a Republican crowd cheer and agree with these talking points lays a foundation that could be used to turn people back to sanity. It needs to be built upon.
This is too funny. The RNC didn't know what they were getting into putting him on the schedule to speak. And audience members are clapping all through his speech oblivious to the fact that the Republican platform is completely at odds with unions and the points he makes.
Oblivious - but they know they support the worker. That's a fault line that can be exploited. I don't know many blue collar workers who are in love with their bosses or their landlords.
You can even hear some uncertainty in the applause.
At first I wasn't sure how to feel about him speaking to the RNC, but the more i think about it, the more i support it. The working class message has to be made before conservatives.

Their dad was a Republican his dad was a Republican, etc. - and like it or not, traditionalism is not viewed in conservative circles with the antipathy that it is viewed with on liberal circles.
If you ask me, that's the nut to crack. Tons of conservatives are pro-worker, because THEY ARE workers. Like, I'm working class, but I just futz around with computers. I like my work, I'm proud of it, and i stand by it, but at the end of the day conservatives are the ones getting their hands dirty (usually).
But they're not conservative because of the policies - that's why liberals are liberals. Conservatives are conservatives because of tradition, their values, and, yes, in many cases because of the bigotry.
How do you crack that? Education, outreach, kindness. And throwing billionaire social media owners into the sun.
@@tomspettigue8791 I think it's a mischaracterization to say that liberals, and hence Democrats, view "traditionalism" with antipathy. The focus is simply different on what is considered traditional. Democrats are definitely all about traditional aspects of the Constitution that promote and protect personal freedoms. If by "traditional" you mean "Christian values", even then Democrats could be viewed as traditional since many are Christian and follow the message. The Republican party's shift to Christian Nationalism is arguably not entirely traditional, its viewpoint on the role religion should play in American politics is somewhat new. And Project 2025, which has objectives that are contrary to the Constitution, is non-traditional. Also, regarding generations of Republicans, likewise there are generations of Democrats.

I am an 18 year Teamster (local 170). In March I had asked my shop stuart, why the teamsters would give the RNC $45,000? To me, it seemed to go against workers values.
I now understand that, that was the price of admission. In order to have our voices heard by an audience that didn't care to hear from us. Now the world is watching.

I retired early with a Pension in 2010 from a Union Job in Texas. Today that same company has done away with the unions abilities to negotiate and currently doesnt offer a pension and eliminated other benefits. Growing up in a Conservative household I never questioned the Republican Party but my eyes became wide open after I retired and realized they are not the same Party. They never really worked for the working class and today its so much worse. I'm also a Vet and found out this Project 2025 actually goes back to 2017. If not for the Pandemic many of these restrictions proposed for us Vets wouldve already been instituted. The ting is once they take effect because Republicans owe the Supreme Court you will get them back.

He would have yes, but he also would have brought these guys into the oval office and went with them down in the streets. Do rallies with them when the push was needed. This puts a ton of pressure on the others/top to give. Right now it's all top down communication. Bernie knows there also needs to be a bottom up message, it's what's missing, but you need someone at the upper level to facilitate that resistance.
