i think a really underrated segment is the nobody parts in the cyclops saga. its a great callback and easily the most notable event in that chapter of the original book. plus it sounds nice and really works to sell that 1. odysseus is clever 2. if he wasnt so smart, he’d be dead

This is awesome. I love hearing everyone’s favorite parts of each song and how they differ from person to person. I first heard Epic from one of those compilation videos and that plays everything in one go and I was amazed at how good it was. Now that I listen to one song at a time, I keep switching which song is my current favorite and which part of each song is my favorite. It’s like always eating a meal by rushing through and shoveling all the ingredients in your mouth at once, then one day discovering there are different flavors in the one meal by taking your time. My favorite part of “Ruthlessness” lately are when Poseidon says “but no” with all the snarkiness possible. But when the men yell “Captain!” it gives me goosebumps every time. In “Horse and the Infant” I really like when Odysseus starts giving orders to individual men “Diomedes will lead the charge!…” which my kiddo sings as “Diabetes will lead the charge!” No matter how many times I correct her. 🤣
