one of...I Remember You by Skid Row is--- I think--- the most beautifully written (lyrically) and just magnificently performed, without an orchestra, rock ballads of all time.
"Why is she so sad...?" The song is about suicide. You don't always notice how much someone is hurting until you go back and realize the signs were there all along, but sometimes by then it's too late. "Everybody needs somebody. You're not the only one." Very sorry about your sister's passing. Keep spreading the love. I join many others in wishing you all the best.
I was about 10 or 11 when this video came out and honestly thought she was struck by lightning at the reception, even though they didn’t show lightning, and that’s why there was the mirror in the coffin that showed only one side of her face and body. Like it thought the other half was burned. Then I never really thought about it again. But yes, suicide makes sense now. Funny how kids think.
It's not just about not noticing how much some one else is hurting - it's about knowing that your time with someone is not infinite. Nothing lasts forever - relationships, lives, loves - they all have an end date that you cannot know. It's important to show someone how much you care while you can.
Yep , I only just discovered this is a trilogy . . . . and November Rain was one of the first songs they wrote many years b4 its release . . . .and this is the secret of a great song -the way it makes you feel inside ( So sorry to hear about your sister x )

One of the funniest thing that I rarely if ever see commented is how Slash walks out of the big, gorgeous cathedral and comes out the door of a little one-room country church in the middle of nowhere. It's a great transition. Also, for those who may never have seen this before, a little context on the shooting: Those climbing, circling, swooping shots of Slash during his solo were incredibly tough and expensive to get. Drones weren't a thing then, so those are absolutely true helicopter shots. That's why his hair, the dust, everything is blowing so hard. And as an added note for Jamel, the conductor that looks like Weird Al is the legendary Michael Kamen. While not the first to put an orchestra with a rock/metal band, he was absolutely the master at blending the two forms. From this, Aerosmith's "Dream On" and "Silent Lucidity" for Queensryche, to the entire S&M concert with Metallica, there is no one that did it better. Gone 17 years now, and still feeling the loss to this day.
It classical music circles Michael Kamen is thought of as a hack. Sorry, not trying to be a jerk but it's true. Personally, I think he could have done much better things with the Metallica S&M performances.

I do not like to compare loss, but... I saw my daddy die on his knee at the age of 5. I have lost buddies in combat, lost my wife a twins in a car crash by a dui guy. I have lost everything. I am so alone at 64 you cannot know. My nerves shake and heart still breaks every second. I do not medicate or read the good book. I walk around and see things. @@lovegungoodfun Yep is based on the short story “Without You”, written by Del James and published in his book “The Language of Fear” a few years later. The story is basically about a rock star, grieving over the death of his girlfriend, who had committed suicide.

THE group of the late 80s early 90s. Saw them in concert so many times. Use Your Illusion I and II are so great, stood in line at Blockbuster at midnight to buy the CDs. Rock on J!
This has always been my favorite GNR song. That emotional crash was completely intentional too. It’s a song about depression and suicide. It’s incredibly powerful I think
The "bride" is model Stephanie Seymour, Axl's then-girlfriend. The females accompanying the band members are/were their then-girlfriends/wives. The "priest" was an actual priest.
Wow...I thought that the 'actor' that played the priest looked rather creepy/pervy with his expressions...the fact that he's a real 'priest' puts everything in perspective now...
Axl has a wide range of tone and pitch. Or at least he used to his voice isn't quite 100% what it used to be but still pretty darn good. they did a lot of overdubbing with Axl singing over top of his own vocals which sometimes would be in totally different pitches and tones.
one of the most memorable moments of my life was in a Guns concert... they were playing this song and started to rain when the song started, all the lights from the show focused on the raindrops, i'll never forget this moment (the concert was in november btw)
Oh wow. I remember seeing this video on all the time on VH1 or MTV (I think) and could never work out why her face looked a bit 'off' when they show her in the coffin.
This is correct - if you read the short story its based off of it's crazy clear when it says "As he arrived by way of the elevator at her floor, he heard familiar music. The closer he got to her door the louder the volume grew. Then his world began to spin uncontrollably as a loud gunshot echoed through the hallway. He ran toward her apartment, lowered his shoulder, and with reckless abandon crashed through the wooden door. He’d found Elizabeth on the couch, bleeding profusely, most of her head splattered on the wall behind her"
So glad I found your music spot. I'm a 74 years old retired nurse and still love music. Been through alot of music . Thank you for entertaining me and love your positive fib
GnR! This song is a Masterpiece! This band always has a surprise element of their talent. Your reaction to this video is true and very heartfelt. I feel the same way everytime I watch. The song is incredible! Very very sorry for your loss 😢
Some Death and Pain Songs reach a part of our Souls in ways we thought we had made impossible to Touch. Possibly reveals more healing still needed. G&R does this Song perfectly.
She was filled with a sadness that wouldn't go away. Believe this song and video took a big risk at the time bringing awareness to depression and suicide. Became one of their best musical masterpieces.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I lost two of my 4 brothers and my father so I know what it's like to lose someone you are close to and love. I miss them so very much every day. I come from a big family of 8 children besides my parents my mom is still alive at 92 (I thank god every day). I honestly like GNR this song is classic but it brings a person down. So I know where you are coming from.✌✌ peace out man.
Even after all these years, Slash's solo still makes all the hairs on my arms stand on end. It always will I think. When Rock Bands were not made up of effeminate teenage boys that look like teenage girls.
When I finally got to see them live for the Not in This Lifetime tour and Slash got up on the piano and start gettin at it... A little dust got in my eye. Both times.
Happy new years Jamel. Great reaction to a sad song. I love the song though. Sometimes sad songs are just as needed as happy ones. It helps us to release emotions we keep bottled up. Peace and love brother.
"They went from the man jumping through the cake to the woman in the casket?" Welcome to Guns'n'Roses film clips my friend. Wait until you get to the one where Axl is swimming with with dolphins next to a giant tanker in the ocean. Hahaha.
He professed in 89, in an interview that he was a 6th Baritone...Not common terminology these days, but i was impressed. Makes me think he had some good vocal training somewhere along the way.
His high range he found out by accident. He thought he sounded weird in his head. But izzy and tom told him to sing like that from now on. Rest is history.
One of the most intense guitar solos ever recorded, and it’s the third solo of the song. Slash is quite legendary. Heck he was already near legendary status back in ‘91.
This is simply the best reaction I’ve ever seen to a video. The feelings and the emotions it ripped from deep within you came out in their purest form; we all saw and felt how this video impacted you... This is the beauty of music... I’m sorry for your loss, Jamal... Much love from Colombia...
One of my fav Slash moments is his song with Michael Jackson called "give in to me" .... but that's just me enjoying too great artist 2gether (in my eyes) ;)
This was a beautiful, raw reaction to this incredible song. Thanks for getting vulnerable and sharing your loss with us Jamal. I’m so sorry your sister passed but am happy she got to do it her way. One of my all-time favorite songs and music video. It had a MAJOR impact on me as a child.
Man, I wanted to hug you through the screen. This song does the same to me. Much love my friend. Thanks for bringing all the great music to us.
@@elmoomle4565 😂
Everyone inside the church: Its quiet outside
Slash: I'm gonna step outside for a minute.
Patience and don't cry! Dont cry is part of the November rain story and has the singer from blind melon Shannon hoon singing on it
He should start listening to Blind Melon
RIP Shannon Hoon.
This is my favorite song by Guns N Roses. Not only is it an amazing song and video but, I was also born in November. I absolutely love this song.
Axl has a wide range of tone and pitch. Or at least he used to his voice isn't quite 100% what it used to be but still pretty darn good. they did a lot of overdubbing with Axl singing over top of his own vocals which sometimes would be in totally different pitches and tones.
This effect was something I really liked.
one of the most memorable moments of my life was in a Guns concert... they were playing this song and started to rain when the song started, all the lights from the show focused on the raindrops, i'll never forget this moment (the concert was in november btw)
When she is in the coffin, notice how half her face is behind a mirror. This is often done in case of suicide by gunshot.
Oh wow. I remember seeing this video on all the time on VH1 or MTV (I think) and could never work out why her face looked a bit 'off' when they show her in the coffin.
Mirrors are used when the face of the deceased is disfigured for any reason, including car accidents, severe contusions, & unilateral edema.
He’d found Elizabeth on the couch, bleeding profusely, most of her head splattered on the wall behind her"
@@StevenRice I'm being lazy here - what's the short story called?
YUP !!
My favourite song of Guns and Roses .loved it for years 😁
“Dead Horse” my favorite GN’R Song and super underrated.
I’ve gotta try that one, my favorite one from them is Locomotive (Complexity)
These "Illusion" albums dropped as I was getting divorced from my first wife. Dead Horse was the anthem of that whole ordeal. I fuckin LOVE that tune!
Love Dust N' Bones. Probably my favorite deep cut of theirs.
@@KayeWhye the part before the drum start, its sounds like balls are being busted hahaha
Guns N' Roses's "Stairway to Heaven"; masterpiece.
"Stairway to Heaven" is from Led Zeppelin
@@shantanumukhopadhyay9715 I know this lol, I am saying Stairway to Heaven is to Led Zeppelin as November Rain is to Guns N Roses
@@SunDiegoRockStar ohh yeah true true
Now Stair way IN The last 4 minutes OF THE SONG IS SO EPIC HUGE , Madison Square Garden LIVE 1973 ,, Still the MOST POPULAR Rock song of ALL Time
Condolences to you. It's a heavy song. G&R did it right!
Incredibly beautiful song. Just goes to show that you can make any style of music you want. There are no barriers in music
“They went from a man jumping in a cake to this woman in the casket.” 9:31 LOL 😂🤣🤣🤣
Some Death and Pain Songs reach a part of our Souls in ways we thought we had made impossible to Touch. Possibly reveals more healing still needed. G&R does this Song perfectly.
That church is like the TARDIS , bigger on the inside
Dr. Who fan? ;D*
No, it’s smaller on the outside.
The Look on his face when he witnessed "the Jump in the Cake Death" LOL
When i was a kid i was like, "The rain killed his wife?"🤔
She was filled with a sadness that wouldn't go away. Believe this song and video took a big risk at the time bringing awareness to depression and suicide. Became one of their best musical masterpieces.
Something about this song I always loved, different for GnR, man what a time for music back then ❤️
I am so very sorry for your loss.
Both times.
Agreed... started with the You Know Whos, and cough....latest incarnation, BTS... cough......
@@LordDarthSmyth dude same for me seen them in Mexico City and it was absolutely incredible
I LOVE when a guitar tells a story without words.
Patience is another great song from them
Your genuine reaction is a testament to the greatness of this work of art.
Condolences for your sister. Peace be with her my friend.
COMA- GUNS-N-ROSES is my favorite song from them
That guitar solo
estranged for me it better
Coma and estranged 😁👍
Fine by me
Coma and estranged 😁👍
Fine by me
My aunt Vicky was GNR’s first manager. She said that parts of this song was written when Axl was staying with her right before they made it big.
Happy new years Jamel. Great reaction to a sad song. I love the song though. Sometimes sad songs are just as needed as happy ones. It helps us to release emotions we keep bottled up. Peace and love brother.
"They went from the man jumping through the cake to the woman in the casket?"
Welcome to Guns'n'Roses film clips my friend. Wait until you get to the one where Axl is swimming with with dolphins next to a giant tanker in the ocean. Hahaha.
And Slash playing a guitar solo in the middle of the ocean 🤣
fun fact: Axl Rose has a higher vocal range than Whitney Houston
He professed in 89, in an interview that he was a 6th Baritone...Not common terminology these days, but i was impressed. Makes me think he had some good vocal training somewhere along the way.
@@kilgoretrout3966 church choir as a child/young teen. He would purposely switch between octaves to piss off the director.
His high range he found out by accident. He thought he sounded weird in his head. But izzy and tom told him to sing like that from now on. Rest is history.
Sings way better than her, too!
A 6th baritone? Damn. That's only 2 octaves above a bass like Avi Kaplan.
One of the most intense guitar solos ever recorded, and it’s the third solo of the song. Slash is quite legendary.
Heck he was already near legendary status back in ‘91.
It's hard to keep an open heart when even friends seem out to harm you.
Oh I absolutely love that song
CLASSIC
Wait, Slash plays in that song? Sure it's been years since I've heard the song but I really should've known..
@@LyricalDJ yep I think he’s in the video too
One of the most epic guitar solo of all time, with the perfect intro to lead up to it, strutting out of that church like an absolute boss
The girl playing his bride was his then girlfriend, Stephanie Seymour. Smoke show.
then he beat the shit out of her
Beautiful song !! Beautiful guitar solo’s!! I’m so sorry for the loss of your sister Jamal 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Axel got his moneys worth out that helicopter for slash's solo 😂
This was a beautiful, raw reaction to this incredible song. Thanks for getting vulnerable and sharing your loss with us Jamal. I’m so sorry your sister passed but am happy she got to do it her way. Please remember that. A joyful departure in that she still experienced the goal in marrying her partner. You made me tear up brother. Thank you as always. You’re a gift to this channel.
Elton John did the piano in the live version of this song
On a VMA awards show, Elton and Axl did a piano duet along with the other GNR members.
LOVE to see the reactions of November Rain, love how people falls for the song and love their faces at the last part.
“Paradise City” please! Axl Rose was the shit back in his prime😍
This is by far the BEST video EVER!!!! The part where Slash gets on top of the piano is just the most epic thing ever done in a video!!!! And he’s the ONLY one who can pull it off too!!! That part is just wow!!
I like slash at the wedding. Kinda like "I forgot the ring so the he'll with it I'm getting drunk. See ya."🙄😂
"And if you wanna love me, then darling don't refrain"...
One of my favorite song lines of all time.
"Look like Wierd Al" 😂 already laughing
I’m so sorry for your loss. I can see why this song would evoke those memories. Thanks for what you do.
Someone left her cake out in the rain. She literally couldn't take it. It's messed up because I'm thinking she probably didn't even bake it.
I never could figure out how she died.
I bet she'll never have the recipe again.

You gotta do "Rocket Queen", "Mr. Brownstone" and "My Michelle"
My all time favorite song. Its the song I was introduced to at age 3 and made me fall in love with rock n roll. Thanks dad. RIP pop thanks for teaching me what good music is
I am sure someone has suggested it, but GnR "Used to Love Her" should be another you react to!!
