I play skip and have been curling for 12 years and honestly the hardest part of the game is learning how the mechanics of the rocks work mixed with the speed of the ice. Some rocks have more bounce then other (live rocks) and other may not move around a lot if hit (dead rocks). And for learning the ice it’s different at every arena, on every sheet so you really have to pay attention in warm up.
Yes its easier with that bow but it can be really hard if you shoot another bow. i cant always hit bullseye on 18 meters but i also shoot without aim or stabilisor. But yeah curling is probably also pretty hard.
That was an olympic bow though. With an olympic bow you can just move your hand in the last second and hit the ‘bullseye’ if it was a compound bow, you would need more concentration and if you move an inch, you’ll mess it up. But curling looks really hard. When I watch it Tv it seems fun but after this... 😂

With a recurve/barebow you dont have the releaser and therefore you really need to hold the bow still, and the release gotta be prefect. a recurve is of course easier than the barebow since it has the aim and stabilisor but a barebow is al about perfection and steadyness. if you move you hand in the last second you WILL miss the bullseye since it will moove the whole arrow. olympic bows often have lower poundage and therefore there is more time for the arrow to be pushed in the wrong direction by the bow than with a compound. my first shots with a compund was 2x 9 and 1x10. i had a hard time when i went to the recurve/barebow.
I'm not surprised that Olympic medalists pick up other sports quickly! But why is it that so many Europeans speak English so well, while most Americans can't produce more than a couple sentences of French or Spanish?

They appear to be shooting about 30-40 meters indoor. 30 meters is the shortest distance outdoors, which is where the Olympics is done. The longest distance is 90 meters for men, 70 meters for women. Flight time for an arrow at 90 meters is about 2 seconds.

Actually there are some top archers with pretty bad sight. Im Dong-hyun, a Korean archer, has won 2 gold, 1 bronze olympic medals & a ridiculous number of non olympic medals is legally blind! He has 20/200 vision in one eye & 20/100 in the other.
Why is Lisa holding her bow that stiff? You are supposed to let it rest on the thumb joint. And a recurve with a front stabilizer should flip over. As you are essentially not even holding it, you put a string on the fingers so it doesnt drop on the ground. While I do have some expirience in archery about 4 years for fun and then half a year with a proper trainer. She certainly has more experience and I am really puzzled now.

Yeah, it is the old Swedish name of a mineral from which Tungsten metal can be refined. Tungsten is pretty dense so the rocks are literally heavier than other rocks :p.

Your dominant foot has a grippy surface so you can push off the blocks, the non dominant has a slippery surface to allow you to slide. When your not throwing there's a cover you can put on the slick shoe to get full grip
yes, but your body can make that by himself from any carbs or proteins. sugar works the fastest, and gives you a quick rush, but it also triggers an insulin response, because that's what your body uses to transport glucose into the cells. and when it's done your bloodsugar is way too low, and you lose concentration, unless you keep eating sugar forever. it basically makes your bloodsugar peak end then plumit before stabilizing again, instead of having it stable all the time.

I cringed when she told him to keep his left arm straight. If you have proper form, your left elbow should be bent slightly so your arm doesn't get hit by the bowstring. If they did that, they wouldn't have to wear the armguards. Of course, I'm also a traditional, non-Olympic archer (no sights or balancers, and my bows lack both a sight window and arrow rest/shelf), so everything about it feels wrong to me. Olympic archery just seems rigid.
writer15131 i shoot both styles and they are completely different. Try to hit a 10 at 70 meters 70 % of the time with a traditional bow. Good luck. Even with a olympian recurve it is very hard to obtain these scores. Olympic archery is all about perfection and consistency. I hate it when people say this kind of bow is too easy. It‘s not. I shoot traditional for fun. I love being in the nature and have a good time with my friends and sometimes it‘s challenging if the animal is well placed. But i shoot Olympian Style for the competition.
