Sadness and anxiety have overtaken my inmost being. My heart is made sorrowful in mourning, my eyes are become dim. Woe is me, for I have sinned. But thou, O Lord, who dost not forsake those whose hope is in thee, comfort and help me for thy holy name’s sake, and have mercy on me.
No one appreciates this kind of music anymore. unlike hip hop and rap this song is all real voices working in unison making one fluent beautiful sound. it chills the soul.
No one? Not even you? Best to be careful about the use of "nobody" or "everybody" as most statements that include one of those two words (or synonyms thereof) are obviously false.
This is one of the most moving performances on the DVD "Playing Elizabeth's Tune" by the Tallis Scholars. I suggest buying the DVD. Wonderful to see the singers (including one who is a friend of mine, I'm glad to say).
@JoelvanLennep I'm a fledgling composer myself, and Byrd is one of my influences. I only recently discovered his music, when both of our church's choirs did his setting of Ego Sum Panis Vivus. Byrd's Ave Verum Corpus has helped enspire me to write my own 8 part setting of the Ave Verum Corpus for two quartets, which I hope to have finished before Easter.
Dear LouisvilleTorn8o, What a pleasure to receive your communication! I wish you all manner of success in your sally into Ave Verum Corpus country. What a gift music is! J.

Byrd or Palestrina? Having a small crisis of faith that might only be resolved by a visit to LeadingNote on Elgin. I reneg any earlier music post ~ I couldn't live without this...
I appreciate your dilemma, but why not embrace the power of "AND"? They were both excellent composers. As were Lassus, Josquin, Victoria, Gombert, Cipriano de Rore, Monteverdi ....

Well, I love this and all the great polyphonic masters and I also like me hip hop and rap.
Divino! Adoro questa musica e l'assoluta limpidezza e purezza di queste voci...

I adore His music..
Wonderful! The Music of the Spheres
Music of greater profundity and intensity, can scarcely be imagined!
La obra de William Byrd es maravillosa, vivida y expresada en momentos desafiantes para el y que expresan su profunda espiritualidad. Muchas gracias!

It's georgeous!
Superb in every way... Thank You!...
Tallis Scholars siempre sublimes. Cuánto más agrada la afinación perfecta y la emoción contenida que no la blanda sensiblería o un énfasis excesivo.
This gives me the good willies, lol. Wonderful.
Seeing the Tallis Scholars in Nov, here in Australia, can't wait!!!
Hauntingly beautiful
Sencillamente conmovedor!!
If you like this, you'll also enjoy anything by Orlando de Lassus
