I love the way you teach, you are so clear and concise; you present the info that we need in such a friendly, understandable way. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
"It ended with the federal troops killing over 200 men, women, and children... Alright if you want help getting an A in your class and a 5 on your exam-" I love your videos Heimler they are super helpful and got me through AP World, just thought that was a little funny.
HEIMLER PLEASEEEE make new videos for apush pleasee, theses are kind of outdated and you dont go over everything for the class. Im still grateful and love youu
3:25 Could you elaborate on why the west was important as a democratizing force? I'm kinda confused on how westward expansion leveled class hierarchies.
Hey Heimler, great videos. Quick note, I'd recommend refraining from the term "Indian" and instead, I'd recommend you use "Indigenous populations" or refer to these populations by their specific tribes or native nation.
I love what you said after describing the Assimilationist movement. Really captures the essence of how horrible the federal government was and still is lmfao.
I think it should also be noted that the ghost dance movement was also misinterpreted by the united states government as an uprising, take this with a grain of salt though as i'm still a student and dont have all my info fully confirmed so i may be wrong
indigenous isn’t a proper noun. Its just an adjective to describe Indians. There are plenty of indigenous peoples in the world that aren’t Indians. And also yes I’ve heard that Indians would rather be called “Indians” than “native americans” because they don’t want to use a term that categorizes them as “American.” That’s at least what i’ve heard don’t know if that’s the reason why.

○ Encouraged by railroads and homestead acts

- Sodubsters - homesteaders

- Frederick Jackson turner argues the closing of the frontier was a cause of concern
○ Americans were always moving west
○ Closing it would stop the release of America's discontent
○ Frontier was a fresh start and leveled class and social hierarchies
- Indians had been forced to move to the Oklahoma territory
○ After mass migration happened, the government tried to get rid of the Indian "problem"
○ Government developed reservation system - Indians were assigned to live on tracts of lands with strict boundaries
○ Indians made their lives around following buffalo herds but Americans killed the buffalo
○ Several indian peoples resisted this movement of assimlation
○ Sioux wars - Sioux fought American army so the government made more treaties to restrict them
○ When gold was discovered on their lands it was impossible to keep Americans away
○ Indian Appropriation Act - officially ended federal recognition of the sovereignty of Indian nations and nullified all treaties
○ Ended up with battle but Indians lost
○ This all forced Indians to do what the government said
○ Dawes Act - federal government abandoned reservation system and divided lands for Indians to farm
§ Allowed Indians to become citizens as long as they settled there and assimilated to the culture

Thanks for the great video. My class just started this unit and these video help so much
I can't believe this got restricted. Kinda suspicious.
PLEASE I BEG OF YOU TO MAKE AN ENTIRE UNIT 5 REVIEW VIDEO!!!
I did, but it’s only in my Ultimate Review Packet...
Hey Heimler, great videos. Quick note, I'd recommend refraining from the term "Indian" and instead, I'd recommend you use "Indigenous populations" or refer to these populations by their specific tribes or native nation.
He responded to this in another video, saying the natives he has met wished to be referred to as "Indians"
I love what you said after describing the Assimilationist movement. Really captures the essence of how horrible the federal government was and still is lmfao.
HOW CAN WE GET THE AGE RESTRICTION OFF? My students cant use it! @Heimler
Heimlers carrying me to this exam

For the Sioux Wars, did he mean in 1876?
MANIFEST DESTINY BABYYYYYYYYYYY
All day...
Nice 2 in 24 hours
Cranking...
I am shocked after learning about all this injustice toward Natives
America is “the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between.” Oscar Wilde
my exam is in a few hours😭👎
Me too.. I’m cooked 🤧
why is this age restricted bruh
No idea.. I need to look into that
It could be when Heimler said "troops killed men, women, and children"
gonna use this age restriction as evidence of continuity if prompt on leq is about white suppression of natives and their culture
LESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Mmhmm
that was depressing
I like the way you teach, you teach better than my teacher but they are not Indians. They are indiginous.....
True but it’s what the college board wants 🤷🏾♂️
Well that’s true. I only say “Indians” because that’s what the indigenous people I’ve met call themselves…
