Yea the fact that it is the number of hits that matters makes it essential
A few notes about Gravel usage:
For killing the wisps: she's picked for more than just her attack speed. Why her, over all other FREDs? Bc she's the only one of her type who hits twice per attack. Helpful for all stages before this.
Placement: if using her to bait the melee Thunder and the tailspear stabs, make sure Gravel is the left most melee Op at all times. That's how the boss prioritizes who to shaft.

You can switch Click with Amiya S3 and let her stay on the top tile, activate Chimera skill when the boss appears for the third time and Amiya with Surtr will evaporate it in a matter of seconds, no need to redeploy Surtr.

To those that find this stage hard, if you have SA, just bring him, even if you don't use him. I experienced having the boss exploded a lot of times, which is really frustrating just because Surtr's redeployment was so lacking so having SA with his first talent (decreases the redeployment time of all allies for 10%, I think) will really help a lot.

A few tips cuz I was losing my mind on cm mode.
If you can fit chalter onto your team, on the 3rd boss part you can place chalter on the top right side, during the fire phase. Her skill should be up when the boss revives and really helps boost damage onto the boss.
I was able to kill the boss in one surtr rotation with her.
Also healers can be a bit confusing, if you’re finding your surtr does not have enough damage during the first phase, try changing up your helidrop dps and your healer skill.
(Ie shining s1 put in more work then s3 for me on this stage)
Final tip, blue poison and leizi are really really good at destroying the flames on this stage, consider giving leizi a try, because you can run her at lvl 1 as long as your only using her to kill flames.

Just wanted to say, thank you so much for all the guides that you do for Arknights! I have been consulting your guides for a long time, and generally have no issues with your guides (even with my expensive operators). Thanks to them, I don't have to spend my nights banging my head against stages spending sanity (both in-game and in real life), and can afford not to burn out in this game!
This event was particularly annoying for me with the hit-X-times mechanic, and I had lots in life to take care of, so thanks to you I can clear all the stages + medal before the event runs out :)

Thank you for the guide, Kyo! With the help of some adjustments some comments proposed (using Ifrit and Amiya) I finally manged to beat the stage! And I finally E2ed my Ethan, he deserves it as MVP of this event lmao

Ptilopsis can greatly extend Surtr's time in the battlefield. She can almost outheal Surtr's HP drain just enough to land a few blows to kill the boss

thank you so much, I just completed this stage with challenge mode and thanks to your guide, this stage was quite insane! I used almost all same characters, except for Shirayuki - I replaced her with alter Kroos with second skill, it worked out nicely.
As someone who once went in the comment to say that a strategy isnt working, one word of advice to newcomers: be patient, and take your time. Everything works perfectly fine

I tried the first part atleast dozen times now.
For whatever the reason, my ethan isn't dealing enough ticks during the early stage (He is the only lvl 1) so this is hella annoying. My dragon starts with 140% health with the very same setup and I'm losing my mind since EX stages were added.
@@MINEcRAft0WY did you managed to solve it in the end? I would have guessed that a lv1 Ethan might require some rng in order to work. Mine was e1 lv 50 with his skills lv 7 and never leaked anything with him
@@borrow4654 I just made a buff army with Surtr and used Amiya S3 and anything good I had to throw at this boss. Somehow I made it but it was A LOT of tries.
@@borrow4654 As in, the boss had plenty of HP from leaking spirits but thanks to Aak and buff company, it was not an issue.

Ifrit is also a very useful DotT operator with S2, or her S3 can be used to debuff the boss and kill it faster.

I dont get what am I doing wrong, Utage gets one-shotted and Surtr holds just right but whenever I'm close to killing the boss it ends the run. My team is in no way underleveled. I dont understand

Thank you Kyo for this strategy. This one was the most useful i could find here. I was losing my mind in challenge mode after many tries but took Chalter as support unit to deal more damage in the 3rd phase because that phase was the most annoying due to time pressure. Thanks to you my medal set for this event is now completed

Finally done it thanks to your clear.
I think really important for me was "additional DP unit", which was Ifrit. Placed her as early as possible, 2 squares to the right of where you've Deployed Surtr the last time.
That way she deals with a lot of mobs and items flying around, deals damage to all 3 boss phases, and before 3rd boss phase, she also deals some damage to Wisps coming in from the Left side of the Ball

I don't understand the issue here, I followed the guide to a T, used my maxed Eyja and borrowed a maxed Surtr, I'm not on challenge mode and the s*** lizard still won't die, like the last round barely dropped him to 1/2 health
Make sure you kill all fire thing, If you let them absorbed by bosses, he'll get doubled health bar
I didn't realize how strong the Healing of Nearl's S2 is until I used it in this stage. I took her instead of Spot and when I used her Skill to heal Surtr she completely outhealed her HP loss. Also at the end when the Boss shoots these lasers and makes all the tiles undeployable, I put Nearl beneath Surtr and used her Skill again, not only did she survive the Laser, but she also healed Surtr, which gave me 1 extra tile to deploy someone to damage the Boss. Either Nearl is secretly an OP Medic or it's just the Coral Coast Skin😂

Nightmare skill 2 has really op damage over time
I tried this with warf s2 in place of sussuro coz I thought "more damage is good" then lost coz surtr killed boss too fast for ethan to redeploy. it was kinda funny
You can have Silverash in your team if redeployment is an issue for you, like it was for me. He reduces all redeployment time by 10%
warfain s1 is really big for surtr here since he heals a percentage of max hp, so your surtr can survive a little longer to deal more damage

I failed now a 3rd Time already, i even use Nearl the Radiant Knight E2 Lvl 40 for extra DPS with a E2 Lvl 90 Surtr, Mastery 3 for her 3rd Skill from the Support etc but the Boss always triggers the Explosion in the End, no matter how fast i try to do Things, and im only in the Normal EX Mode (not even Challenge Mode), it really starts to get frustrating ^^
Saria skill 3 can help somewhat maybe?
@@lazzerex8779 I only play since 3 Months, so i dont have Saria. Nearl the Radiant Light at E2 Lvl 40 is already my highest leveld Operator i myself have.
Weird, it worked for me. The only big changes that I made were using Ceobe instead of Click (She probably did quite a bit of damage during the second phase tbf but she died pretty fast at the last stage of the boss), Angelina s2 instead of Podenco (Her only job was to kill fires so other than the extra regen and small attack speed it should not matter that much), and also used Nearl Alter S2 (Mine is not even E2). The Surtr I borrowed was only E2 lv 70 and my Ethan E1 Lv0, You are probably stalling for too long or failing to kill the fires. The only problem that I had was that I was not able to kill the boss fast enough at the end and I had to re-deploy Surtr.
I also failed 3 times following Eckogen guide tbf, really hate this boss and could not bother clearing it without using a guide, but this one worked first try.
i defeated all the Flames, used my Amiya E2 lvl 30 first skill instead of Click, Ethan is E1 lvl 20 with skill lvl 7, Nearl sadly cant survive long enough to activate her 3rd skill.. i dont even know if i Stall to long or not.
@@Sheppart92 Use Nearlter S2, she will be able to take some hits and do decent damage. Use gravel to tank the tail attacks. Eckogen used Amiya S3 so it might also work here but not sure how it will translate into this strategy, other than that I am not sure. which other 6 stars do you have? . I was probably just a few seconds away from dying as well, idk If I will attempt CM honestly.
Wait...now that I think about it your problem is probably that your Amiya is taking to long to kill the big guys before the second phase of the boss, improving there might help.

I love how Kyo is like I can finally go outside. Someone took the chains off of him from his computer to only making Arknights and Genshin content for the last 3 years and now he's free to see his friends again. The world has changed: Russia is trying to start WW3 on its own. Covid came and sort of went. The world is hot, but with less sun. Electric cars are zipping around a bit more frequently. There's a Top Gun sequel. GameStop was relevant briefly, but not in the way you'd think.

If you screw up at the last parts, you can keep the medic and medic defender until all of your units are placed because the medic defender will be able to stall

Somehow this was the only stage after IW-EX-3 I did both normal and challenge mode on first try blind (only cheating from your videos was realizing how busted Ethan was during IW-EX-5). Certainly interesting event, but not too difficult overall.
Fartooth instead of click on the last stage melts the boss. S3, M3

NTR is SO MUCH help in this stage. If you have lvl60 m3s2 module lvl2 NTR she can solo the 3rd phase after Surtr is dead

I need help
Any tips to stall the boss for more time and avoid the gameover screen, its just I just need a few seconds to deploy surtr from the last pace but it keeps getting the gameoverscreen
silverash reduces redeployment time starting at e1, so you can use him if you have. you can't stall the boss, since you have to beat the stage in 9 minutes, or you get game over. just kill the boss as quick as possible, but not so quick that you don't have redeployment. just do the steps correctly without watching the video, just memorize it, and make sure you deploy and undeploy asap, so undeploy surtr as soon as she kills the boss. if you have the exact team shown in the video, you can 100% do it, but if you have any different operators, or any underleveled operators, something might change a little. for example, you don't kill the enemies in between the boss stages quick enough, or you let wisps get the the core, giving the boss more hp. if you don't kill the boss with surtr, then restart (excluding the last phase), because you likely won't kill in time. unless the boss is literally one hit away from death. make sure you either have operators with the same, or better stats than shown in the video. if you don't, you might be killing the boss (or the enemies in between boss stages) too slow. basically, you have to kill the enemies quick enough. also make sure you don't kill too quick, if you do, you won't have enough time to redeploy.
i replaced utage with guardmiya, gavial with warfarin, and spot with saria, and it worked for me. just make sure you either use operators just as good, or better than shown. i know for a fact what i just said works.
@@dcgamerman9396 i didnt know that you have to defeat the boss under 9mins thats why i keep losing, but i manage to do it with silverash reduce redeployment time and amiya s3 for more damage. I was dumb enough not to notice that it was only under 9mins, thank you again for this
