leibniz yup very true. I didn't know the name of the gpu actually, interesting. No doubt it was amazingly powerful for the time. This console ran Doom 3 after all (with all the cool normal and spec maps i believe)
The Gamecube version could have been a lot closer to the Xbox version (At least, in terms of shader effects) had they given it its own version and not simply ported over the Ps2's version. The Ps2 was by far the weakest in terms of GPU power, but the Gamecube actually had a much better GPU when you consider Factor Five's Star Wars games on it. The Xbox mostly had it bested in terms of RAM and CPU.
That's because in some respects, the og Xbox had some of the best graphics for its time, not to put down the ps2 and GameCube which are both good systems
It’s weird how bad it looks on the 3DS. If you look at Resident Evil Revelations you’ll see that the 3DS is actually capable of A LOT more than this port would lead you to believe.
Resident Evil Revelations uses its own API for the 3DS version to utilize its GPU for shader effects. This doesn't, it was clearly ported over half-assed.
Still today impressed by original xbox version. 😘 I wish I could relive original trilogy again as we did back in the day. Never seen DS version before... Gesus.
It's hilarious to see how compromised the DS and 3DS ports were. It's also hilarious to see how dramatically inferior the PS2 and Gamecube were to PC/Xbox versions.
Rares Macovei well, the PS2 and GameCube were weaker. Xbox has 64MB RAM, hardware that is easy to code for, and NVIDIA’s custom built NV2A, a combination of NV20 and NV25 GPUs that was more powerful than any NVIDIA GPU out at the time.
The GameCube was not weaker than the Xbox. This series was built on the unreal engine which the Xbox was more adept at running. Had they built this from the ground up for the GameCube it would’ve looked breathtaking. Instead it got a port of the ps2 version.
@@kennedyclarkjrpg this is such a cope, the Xbox was far ahead any console in not just power but in ease of development. This is why it got demanding games like Half Life 2 and Doom 3 in either in or almost it’s entirety. With that being said the GameCube was leagues ahead of the PS2 (hell, you could argue that even the Dreamcast was more advanced in some ways like in creating particle effects) and if Ubisoft tried they could probably make a better version for it
i just got this for the PS2 in a secondhand shop, i never knew that there were so many different versions, and i kinda wish they still did it. i would love to see PS3 and $ versions of PS5 games, i bet its possible with a bit of a lowered LOD.

Basically, PC XBOX(Very close second, had all the special effects seen on pc except one) PS2(with arguably the best compromised) look GameCube(alternative to ps2) 3ds Ds
It was far better than the DS port, that was lazily ported from the N-Gage. At least the 3DS version is feature complete (Just with lesser graphics) and doesn't lag like Hell when you flip on your goggles.
C'mon, the 3DS version isn't that bad, especially when you consider the very limited specs it had. You can't expect console level of graphics on the handheld. IMO it looks great for what it is.
Hal Emmerich Most of those games use small closed rooms, so they can put more graphical detail into them. Splinter Cell 3D retained the same basic sizes of the map, albeit with loading screens and parts of the map removed. I think the preservation of content over graphics was a good choice, and even then it's not that bad of graphics
Julián Enrique Arguedas Torres Nintendo no doubt pours more care into their games, especially considering that Majora's Mask is more of a remake. Splinter Cell 3D was more of a port, and if you've played the original Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, it's obvious why so many compromises had to be made. Also keep in mind Chaos Theory was an Xbox game, and Majora's Mask was an N64 game.

if they ported the PC version, the ps3 would suffer to run. from what eurogamer tech analysis stated, the devs didn't bother to use the SPUs at all and only used like 46% of the main processor for the game. and for a game that they have put running at 1920x1080p, it would have been better to use more resources for the game but well all know how Ubisoft was (and still is) in terms of optimizing their games. they just don't care to optimize
