    The Children's Book is one of my most favorite books of all time! It's heartbreaking and beautiful, and it's definitely a summer story, with so much gorgeous imagery. I have read this book five times. It's not for everyone, as it can sound a bit like a history textbook at times (Byatt is all about historical accuracy... I'm pretty sure she spent a decade researching and writing this book), but in my opinion it's a masterpiece. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

    I would definitely recommend that you read Orlando! It has a really interesting premise and I thought it was really thought-provoking

    I love Virginia Woolf but The Waves is hands down her best for me, I really didn't get on with Orlando and Mrs dalloway I found one of her lesser works. To the Lighthouse is so amazing though. Also really loved the years and Jacobs room!

    I only heard that there was a Waterstones in Amsterdam the other day. And now I'm obsessed with trying to get to Amsterdam 🤣🤣

    As a born and raised Rotterdammer it is hard for me to set foot in Amsterdam, but ABC and Waterstones are such beautiful shops. I also wholeheartedly recommend Raybearer, and as for Orlando, while I haven't read it, the aspect of the character changing sex throughout the centuries might be interesting enough to get you through it.

    this is like two weeks after this video came out, but I definitely recommend Orlando! It's fascinating and has some LGBTQ+ vibes, which, to me, is always interesting to read about in older literature.

    Have you read the prequel novellas in the dead djinn series? I haven't read them so can't say for sure, but maybe reading those would help with the world building? Unless a master of djinn is infodump-y regardless, in which case ignore me 😅

    • @leoraaileen
      @leoraaileen  2 года назад

      I have read them actually! Hahahah

  • @mile_851
    @mile_851 2 года назад

    The Name of the Wind is a good book but I wouldn't recommenz you actually read it right now as the 3rd book hasn't come out and it's been 11 years since the 2nd book came out. There is a title for the 3rd book but no actual news about it and it will most probably never come out (as I assume at this point).
    I have both books but only read the first and I'm not planning on reading the second until having actual proof that the 3rd book will ever be released (but I'm not so optimist about this).
    It's like reading more than 1k pages of "IT" to then realise there's no ending.
    I love the book but it's not worth the read right now. IF the 3rd books ever comes out you will have to re-read the first 2 (which are longer than 700 pages each and the second one is even longer) to remember everything... if you don't mind any of this then go ahead. Just a little warning
