Wow! Everything is so bleeding expensive. It would be interesting to know how much your holiday is actually cost you, including all your taxis, food and tips.
Buffet looked expensive but you will be paying for seafood and steaks/roads the items you picked are the cheap and cheerful ones that you get in cheap buffets. Do not go for items like mac and cheese and cheaper cuts like brisket - why did you bother with mash, spring rolls and greasy veg. Also desserts in buffets are always cheap and overly sweet. Vegas changed after 2000. It went from a family orientated "Blue collar" attraction to an adult playground and one for wealthy adults at that. It had free shows such as the pirate ship battle outside Treasure Island (Not TI as they later rebranded it) and an affordable theme park at the back of the MGM Grand. Both gone years ago. Used to be able to get free alcohol from a waitresses in all the casinos as long as you occasionally put a quarter into a slot machine. On my last visit in 2009 that had all but gone. The buffets were great value back then as they were affordable and great value. In saying that even the restaurants were cheaper than in any other city. They kept prices low in Vegas back then to attract people and families to come. Now its all $60+ per person buffets and extortionate resort fees that you have to pay before you even get into your hotel room! If I win the lottery and decide to go again I'll stay in and around Freemont St as its a bit cheaper than the strip, but that's changing as well. Greed took over with global corporations taking the pee. The likes of the Vegas of old are well and truly gone and never to return.
