      @@vipertoothpaintball5724 I seem to recall TJ has a true neutral shift plate in the transfer case and yj does not. I swapped one of those in my case(back when I used to flat tow) so maybe that’s why mine shuts off in N. In a stock yj when the transfer case is in neutral, the front and rear are linked as if it was in 4wd, just disconnected from the tranny if that makes sense. I believe this switch rides on that same shift plate inside the transfer case. Purely speculation but I bet that’s it. Best bet is to check jeepforum to see if anyone else asked the same question in one of those mod threads

    I did something like this a few years back, but mine was free. I used the sensor for the CAD, but it is a smaller thread than what is in the transfer case. The vacuum switch in the TC was no longer of use, so I turned it into an adapter to use with the CAD switch. Basically take all the guts out of it until you just have the metal nipple, and drill/tap to fit the original switch from the CAD. I had to put in a couple washers to space out the original CAD switch, but it works now.

    About to do this on my 87 yj, I'll be installing the cable set-up to engage the 4wd from the cab was going to use a kit that locks the front axle but I would have that wheel hop and I love how the jeep can take tight turns.

    • @FlawedOffroad
      @FlawedOffroad  Год назад

      If you’re talking about a full-time locker like a lunchbox locker. Even when you disengage the posilock, it will turn in kind of weird, but at least it won’t be bound up. You will pull to the driver side.(in 4wd with locker and the posi lock disengage)

    I’ve had the cad delete done on my 92 yj for awhile now. Came across this video and was yes I get my light back lol. Just did it but now I have a new problem. 4wd light is on in 2wd also. Any thoughts? I think I’d might rather have no light lol

    • @FlawedOffroad
      @FlawedOffroad  Год назад

      Take the leads off the sensor, grab a multimeter. 2wd- no continuity.
      4wd should have continuity or 0ish ohms.
      Heard many stories of the new sensors being faulty right out of box. Test that and let me know

      I enjoy all your yj contenet. Picked up a 92 last fall and already re did nost the jeep new bearings and seals. Swapped in another trans because the auto 32rh was smoked from them running 35's on 3.08 gears. I have some 4.10 for it. Keep up the hard work. Hope to do the 4wd light soon.

    • @FlawedOffroad
      @FlawedOffroad  7 месяцев назад

      yeah mine had the tf999 originally(basically a non lockup 32rh) and 3.07 gears. The way I got 4.10 gears on the cheap/easy back then was I found an 8.8 in the junkyard with 4.10, and bought a dana 30 out of a 2.5 YJ that had 4.10's. THat was like 10 years ago but I ran that combo all the way up till 2021 when I did the full widths@@joshmartin7924

      Nice i bought the used 32rh a yj 4.10 front axle and a tj rear 4.10 axle for 400 bucks. I call that a win. What tires dod you run on that auto setup? Im worried my 33's will scram at 55-60mph

    • @FlawedOffroad
      @FlawedOffroad  7 месяцев назад +1

      I had 35s, it was 3k rpm at 70 IIRC but I didnt have lockup, so that'll save you a few hundred rpms. I drove it a few times on 31's it was ridiculous lol. My friend made this calculator for speed/gears/rpms, just enter your trans, gears etc and it will give you rpms for certain speeds at bottom. www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html @@joshmartin7924

    I ordered and received the switch and the connector but the connector does not plug into the switch. Both parts numbers you have here are matching the receipt I have. Also I believe you said the switch needed an 1 1/8 socket but the switch I got is 7/8. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks Bill H

      possible your year jeep has a different connector? I did mention 87-90 would be different. Not sure what to say on the hex size other than manufacturer differences

    • @FlawedOffroad
      @FlawedOffroad  7 месяцев назад

      Sorry I had a brain fart. Id guess someone might have put the wrong switch in the packaging then? Or maybe the connector. but since you said the switch was smaller. Although I thought it was the old vacuum switch in the transfer case that was the bigger 1 1/8 size, The new switch should be smaller if Im remembering right

    I bought a 1988 jeep Wrangler and the switch was disconnected is the switch breaking 12v DC or opening ground

    • @FlawedOffroad
      @FlawedOffroad  11 месяцев назад

      I honestly dont remember I think its just making the ground. I never probed it I just know it completes a circuit and I put the tj one in place of the YJ one and stuffed it in the case

      @@TaylorBroussard-yr6cm did you bench test it before you installed it? I read a lot of the reviews on the switch saying that either the ball gets stuck or they came dead right out of the box so I made sure to test mine with a meter first and it worked fine
