Meryl and Amanda have terrific Mother/Daughter chemistry in both movies. I always tear up during their duets of "Slipping through my Fingers" and "My Love, My Life." 😭♥️
I know that pissed me off. But it was still fun to rewatch all of these. Take A Chance On Me, Mamma Mia, and Dancing Queen are my three favorite songs by Abba. I loved Our Last Summer when Colin sang his part. Swoon! I prefer the first movie to the sequel but Fernando was really fun. My mom plays the original all the time and it gets stuck in my head. Lol
My oldest daughter and I made everyone cry at her wedding reception. No one knew we were going to dance together. Slipping through my fingers started playing and we were both in tears.
You said Streep’s performance of the winner takes it all was flawless. Fun fact: she recorded that in one take. ONE TAKE! LIKE HOW!!! Edit: I’ve just remembered that she also liked to sing on set instead of lip syncing and some of those vocals were used in the final movie. Again. HOW!
@Johanna Brand Yes, the ABBA version was much better and Streep's version was like over the top acting. Bad. She is not a great singer. I'll concede she's a better singer than I am, but that's a low bar.
I started watching Mamma Mia every Summer since I was 11. And the second part since its release. I sing the songs all the time and what's more it's more and more every year.
Literally same! The first Mamma Mia was my childhood movie, it came out when I was 4 so I’ve been obsessed with it most of my life. I’ve seen both movies like a million times and I was also singing to every song this whole video
@Richard The Imaginator I always crack up, when they show Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan dancing. You can tell how much they were enjoying themselves, which makes us have a good time, too.
Me neither. He can carry a tune. Mb cause many cultures tend to go for higher voices & his is deeper with more gravel? IDK. I think he’s fine. Prefer deeper voices myself;, my parents both had deeper voices; very comforting.
@Alna Also these: "I'm beginning to think my soulmate is carbs." "I think mine must be wine." ; "You know what helps me, when my heart is broken? Cake? Why can't she just do that? Just eat a bunch of cake, and leave hot Scandy guy to me?"
No musical will ever beat this two movie.. And good lord thanks for Abba Favorite band ever 💋😍 and now we have WAP and all these songs for our generation 😭😭😭
Okay but do any of yall listen to Abba as well as being a fan of Mamma Mia? Literally anyone who says yes is now my best friend. Also, one thing that confused me with this musical was why they never got a DNA test to see who the father was.
Because in the end Sophie didn't want to know it anymore since she was happy with having "three" fathers. I might be wrong but I think it was even mentioned in the first movie.
The point of the movie wasn’t to find who the biological father was, it was to find family in the people around us. I didn’t matter if she was only related to one of the guys because they all loved her as if she was their daughter.
My favourite numbers are Mamma Mia! (From the sequel) Dancing Queen (from the first film) and Super Trouper (from the sequel). I know Super Trouper is from the credits and not the movie, but it's an amazing number where everyone appears. It's my favourite number from both movies, even if there are a lot of amazing numbers that I love.
When "Mamma Mia" is performed in the sequel, I liked the implication that, if Sam had stayed on the island and/or walked into that bar while the Dynamos were performing, Donna would've been nudged into really talking with him. The couple might've even stayed together, raised Sophie, and probably had more kids together. We get a hint of that in the first film. She desperately wants to be with him, but she fears that she' be giving up some of her power, and also acknowledging her deep insecurities, in order to do so. The sequel's "jumping-in-the-water" callback was really cute, too.
I grew up on the soundtrack of the first movie. When Mamma Mia came out in 2008 I was only 4 years old, so I’ve been obsessed with it most of my life. As a kid, I would constantly sing along to the songs and watch the movie over and over again, it’s how I learned to sing actually. I remember seeing the sequel the day it came out in theaters, I was so hyped for it. Both Mamma Mia films are still my favorite movies of all time and I think they always will be
I love both these movies so much. Yes there is a great lot of songs to listen to. My favourite in Mamma Mia is: Slipping through my fingers and in Mamma Mia here we go again it is: Waterloo.
I just watched Mamma Mia Here We Go Again less than a month ago! I got so excited when I saw this video! Also, I cried during the whole "My love, my life" song😭💜
These movies always hold a special place in my heart. I love them so much. My dad adored ABBA and the first one was something we always enjoyed. My now-wife and I were just friends when the second movie came out, and she'd lost her mom in 2016...I saw it first and neglected to tell her about Donna's spirit appearing during My Love My Life and she sobbed like a baby.
#20 is one of my favorites cause when my dad passed away it makes me think of him and mom. Plus Mamma Mia Here We Go Again was the last movie my dad saw. #8 & #5 I cry all the time and also during the song at the end of the movie Here We Go Again cause of my mom’s passing in 2015.
Seriously, am I really the only one who thinks the plot with Cher was unnecessary and also didn't make sence ?? There was no point to it, it felt soooo forced Especially since Donna's mother was described as strict catholic & also dead in the first movie
@Rook It has nothing to do with being rich. But did Cher look like strict conservative catholic mother that would kick you out of house for getting pregnant?
You really need to pay attention to the first movie. Donna and her mother have a strained relationship, but not once is she described as dead OR Catholic
@@hannedesmet-vandamme7271 Not true that she didn’t want to do another movie, she just didn’t want to do as much as the first one. They could’ve come up with something else.
I'm mostly just shocked y'all decided that there's enough songs in these movies to make a top 20 list. I mean I guess it's not the worst thing to have basically all the songs in a list.
It's odd that in the pictures Sam, Bill and Harry show Sophie, Donna looks 10 years younger than she is in the film instead of 20 since in the sequel, she's a recent college graduate when she meets the men and has her different affairs with them, which results in a pregnancy, so she must be in her earlier 40's when Sophie is getting married, rather than her 50's. Still Meryl Streep and Lily James were perfect for the role of Donna because they had the fierce energy and passion, and you can definitely see the chemistry they shared with their costars
I thinks thats the only aspect that bothered me in the second movie. The man younger counterpart looked nothing like what were showed in the first movie. Like, Colin Firth being all rock 'n roll and so, Billy and Pierce being hippy, they sould had stuck with that
Good choices! But I would’ve put “Does Your Mother Know” way upfront. Christine Baranski just stops the show with her singing, dancing, and emoting. And the male and female dancers are the icing on the cake.

Top 10. There are many good songs in both movies & I can see why you made a top 20 list! 10. I Have A Dream 9. When I Kissed The Teacher 8. Our Last Summer 7. Honey Honey 6. Waterloo 5. Slipping Through My Fingers 4. Super Trooper 3. Dancing Queen 2. My Love My Life I cried during this scene oh my gosh! 1. Thank You For The Music. You forgot this one! It’s my all time favorite song from Mamma Mia.
In the sequel we find out Fernando is Ruby's long lost one true love. It fits in perfectly because Fernando could be Sofie's grandfather. Like mother like daughter. That's one of the reason that we need MAMA MIA 3.😁
very very great fun list I like it a lot great job mis mojo one of my very favorite list ever two of the very best musical movies ever with a amazing cast too

I love your videos! I would also put a request, can you please make a video about inazuma eleven go chrono stone? That anime is just amazing its one of my favorites... Thank you!
I dismissed "Mamma Mia!" as a "Chick Flick," until I caught it on cable and found myself transported back to my "Salad Days" by ABBA's wonderful music and the interesting plot that somehow works, often hilariously, with the words. The unneeded sequel, with Donna dead and her Bible-thumping mother, who kicked her out and had nothing to do with her and Sophie for two decades, suddenly, and unbelievably, transformed 180 degrees into Cher, put a bad taste in my mouth. But after this, I suppose I'll have to watch it on cable to see and hear more of ABBA's music---and to enjoy Tanya and Rosie again. Stay safe, everyone.

My absolute favorite from both movies. They were so cute together!
Meryl and Amanda have terrific Mother/Daughter chemistry in both movies. I always tear up during their duets of "Slipping through my Fingers" and "My Love, My Life." 😭♥️
