I think what actually makes this so brilliant and hilarious, is the fact that it is so evident how much these two actually love the franchise. Between Az's Jaba impression and Mahler recounting scenes to insert slurpo's into, to the ever encroaching madness tearing at the seams of this bit. The nihilism and revulsion most of us are here because we experienced, at watching things that we once loved turned into... Well slurpo...

I guess it depends on how far gone they are. Laughter is a human universal, after all, so I have no trouble envisioning the moderate types enjoying similar banter and merry-making.
It is - I imagine - when they've totally commited to the sort of radicalism we've seen so much of in recent years that the fear of offense gets so ingrained that any sort of funny repartee is viewed with suspicion, if not outright hostility.
