- Devastating wildfires, human eating wild animals, and one rude person won't stop us from enjoying 26 miles of the popular Biz Johnson adventure trail in the Lassen NF.
BUT, two flat tires, 13 miles from base camp, might just put a wrench in our travels! Come along as we leave our RV base camp and travel 26 miles on e-bikes through amazing Outback wilderness.

You were looking at the devastation from Dixie Fire just over 1million acres burned. You might check out Roxie Pinicom next time mile past turn off to Goumaz on the left. Also boon docking spot at trail head for Bizz Johnson trail off Road A21 on right headed North.

Don’t know about those tunnels
The electric bike lets disable people and older people to be able to get out! I have a son that had a stroke and can't drive a car or none electric bike.

I was wondering if "no motor vehicles allowed" included E Bikes? They do have a motor?
We have ebikes to and always wondered about that.....
I have seen trials that do say no e bikes
Hey kiddos, are those ebikes class 2 or 3? How many watts and peak output is the motor rating. Were there any ebike restrictions posted on the trail. Ebikes are a new thing, and localities are very nonconforming regulations. Looking at the online trail rules, they say nonmotorized trail. I'm getting closer to 70 and have back and other issues. Personally, I consider an ebike to be an ADA Compliant aid for folks of declining mobility. You are correct that without the ebike, you wouldn't be able to get out and enjoy the trail, forest and sights.

That fire was last summer 2023 yes all the Wildfires are sad & devastating 🔥, & I can't remember how it started!! I do know it burned alot of acerage

Awesome ride!! I try to carry an extra tube, patches, tire levers and a co2 inflator. Although I'm not sure the inflator would work well with fat tires.
I will have a patch kit next time for sure.

To be honest I wouldn't buy any Lectrik bike they seem to have problems but that's just what I've seen. But what ever you do I'm sure you will enjoy.

Don't pay attention to those peddle bikers, they're young and will find out with maturity that ebikes open up the world to people that can't do that peddle thing anymore. Fabulous job covering the e-bike adventure. I ride an e-bike but haven’t had the chance to do such a fabulous ride. I got a flat riding over beach rose thorn once. Quite surprised my new tires didn’t resist . Might want to line tires with protective cover. I never have but don’t ride really back country trails😢

Scotty, you do have mirrors on your bikes, don’t you. When you are driving the truck I am sure you are looking in your mirrors often, I know I do, so the same should apply to your bikes.

Etiquette says you stay to the right and pass on the left but that guy was going too fast and should have slowed and let you know. Injuries and accidents happen when people are startled by such action as what he did.

I loved this bike ride! Teri I held by breath as you made your way up that steep part. You are much braver than I am. Punkin looked so cute at the end of the video, curled up beside you on the sofa. No doubt dreaming about the most wonderful day!
Sometimes I think Punkins enjoys the bike rides more then Teri and myself. 😊😊😊😊

That was awesome!!!!! Thanks for the ride along. I will say there are a lot of bike riders, the ones that wear the fancy bike riding gear, that are rude. I drive my local parks and they speed faster than the park limit, run stop signs, etc. Not all but a few. I want an electric trike so bad. Two metal knees , kind of afraid of a two wheeler. How freaking great was that tunnel! ❤

This trail reminds me of the Rails to Trails systems around the country and Canada. Retired Railways turned into bike paths.

You need to get FlatOut for your ebikes it will last longer than the life of your tire and tubes 10 years!

That was a beautiful trail ride. If the trees weren't burned you wouldn't be able to see all those mountains and valleys. It will be nice to see the forest green again though. The watermelon looked delicious. I must say that guy really got Terri riled up 'cause that's the first time I heard her cussing. 😂
Even among the devastation there was still a lot of Beauty. The guy really upset Teri.

You two also! We're children of the "greatest generation" and learned as you, wouldn't dream of saying something rude or unkind to a stranger without provocation. We both worked all our lives with stressed out people...consideration and kindness are the only behaviors that will bring us all peace. Solar will charge a power bank then the power bank will charge the bikes.

Pedalled up the mountain for 15 miles. And when your at over 5000 feet of elevation you either take it easy or you ride home in a helicopter

One good thing about California is that it has absolutely beautiful outback country and scenic mountains and a beautiful coast line ----we have the same in South Carolina and a lot more friendly to your pocketbook !!!!!!! Just saying !!! Safe travels and keep vigilant !!!!!!!

Because I get curious about this stuff, I just looked up causes for recent Lassen fires -- a couple of the more recent ones were cause by lightening/Thunderstorms, a possibility you mentioned. The Big One, called the Dixie Fire in 2021, was found to be caused by a tree falling onto a power line and not a blown/poorly maintained fuse on a power pole. There is also the undeniable part that the extreme heat/very little rain for a number of years played a large role in it.
My opinion is that the only good news that came out of this heartbreak is that the power company is working to get all of those lines underground. Even if they should have done it years ago, they are doing it now, thank goodness.Their goal is to finish that project by the end of 2026, where they will have buried 2300 miles worth of lines when done.
A really sweet part are the signs of renewal you found. That kind of thing gives me hope.
