Am surprised jlr not correcting the rear but there is centring kit. I also agree it’s great new car but for my money it has to be the defender as more akin to my existing disco 4. Regards mark
I think that the car is certainly very capable as an off-roader but JLR reliability issues persist across all models so these cars have a stigma attached.
Love this car and currently in the process of buying one but in this day and age with the uncertainty of diesel engines etc I don’t know which engine to go for. Do you have any advice?
Still an ugly beast. Discovery 4 was a much better car. Absolutely ridiculous to take serious off road with those wheels. New Defender is the natural successor to Discovery 4. Land Rover should cut their losses and delete the model.

The new defender isn't a car worth of the discovery name. Stop using the car's design as a excuse to call it unworthy. The defender, while more upmarket and road friendly, is still not as practical as this beast of a car. The discovery name is the middle ground of the Land rover brand, and it is supposed to mix in everything that the brand can offer at each end with the range rover and the defender, and this car does it perfectly. Rumours say it is better at off roading than the range rover, of course, and even the defender. So don't let the soccer mom ride looks deceive you, this thing will eat every 4x4 and SUV that it competes against by being the most versatile car in the world existing.
@@tattttu9 good to get a bit of a debate going. You make some good points and I respect your views. I doubt many people will use all the off road capabilities of these vehicles and wonder if the whole off road thing should be re assessed at Landrover. Good ground clearance with all terrain tyres and just basic four wheel drive would be adequate for Range Rover and Discovery. They are just too expensive for serious off road. That could be left to a more utilitarian Defender which would fill a gap in the range. Proof of this will be how the upcoming Grenadier sells.
@@phillipchandler8862 Tbh, Off road capabilities were always part of the LR dna and letting them go would make LR a company without their own personality. But that's exactly why the discovery went from from a ladder chassis with another classis on top type of thing to a uni body construction. LRs are more road friendly now without losing their 4x4/suv character, they are truly amazing for combining both on and off road worlds, not many competitors do that out there, and LR being a luxury company, it is really the ultimate luxury behavior of "have it all" that sets them apart. Plus if people want more road biased cars, Velar is one, and a good looking one, and there is even the jaguar suvs

It is a tricky decision but if I am honest I think that currently you will be fine with the diesel.
