Wow! So no need to reprogram the battery for it to show the percentage after installation with iOS 18.1. Also by attaching the BMS from old battery one can get rid of the unverified part message. This is cool.
All the software does is "ask" the BMS "What is the current V/A value?", and that;s it, whether it's original or aftermarket. It does exchange some other data like serial number/manufactures, etc, but those are not affecting the health of the battery.
@@JessaJones ah, i see. My understanding with working with a battery research and development company who helped design and manufacture battery packs for the mclaren p1 that the BMS was the most important part of the design when it came to maximising cell efficiency. We opted to design our own rather than buy an off the shelf. We did do cell chemistry although we never got to manufacture and opted for off the shelf. Would be interesting jessa for you to put an x cap bran new battery in the exact same phone and buy and apple battery from the self repair and run them both down. My personal experience is that no battery works better than the apple ones, esp in the ipads. I currently work in the same field as you and can do alot of the same repairs as you do, board level. I do countless battery repairs. I agree xcap are great batterys and for aftermarket battery of choice it would be them. Maybe ill see a video comparing the xcap and apple original both new. Appreciate your time.
I mean we need to understand what apple said too, they just said that the details may not be accurate which imo is fair, because they don’t know 100% if the battery is good or bad or anything.
Hmmm, it would have to be done in replicate to make any conclusions and it would be hard to make usage equivalent between the replicates, and it would likely take a year or more to carry out-but I like the idea.
@@JessaJonesThen why draw the conclusion that a third party battery-that you can't verify-is better than an OEM battery, just because it shows higher capacity? This is exactly the reason why they weren't showing battery health for third party batteries until now. Even then they have to indicate that they can't verify it's claims nonetheless.
The battery health information was always visible in IOS since iPhone 5 for all batteries. Then Apple chose to HIDE this information when iPhone XS came out-keep in mind that this information has been hidden since then EVEN for an Apple-branded battery from a matching iPhone. If I put the exact same aftermarket battery in iPhone X to this day I can see battery health, then if I move that battery to iPhone XS the battery health is hidden. The conclusions I make come from experience, not “what the BMS says”. My experience is that XCAP batteries from injured gadgets were developed in China with the input and feedback of American IG employees. I know these guys personally and I believe in their product, and it is what I’ve installed in countless customer phones for years with no issues. These batteries do indeed perform similarly or better than Apple branded. From that experience the BMS report of mAh on these batteries seems reasonable. These batteries cost 50% less than Apple branded. With that said there are many low quality aftermarket batteries out there that I would never install, and I certainly would expect their BMS to be manipulated and false.
@@JessaJones So your last paragraph is what is really essential in this discussion. It's great that the third party battery you use is one that can be trusted and performs well. But you know very well that the majority of such batteries(third party) on the market do not perform at a high quality standard and/or have deceptive metrics, as well as pose safety issues. In light of these uncertainties and the inability to verify the claims and performance of these batteries, it's reasonable, in my opinion, that Apple didn't show the battery percentage that such batteries were reporting because it's been proven that some of them fake it. Besides, which other phone manufacturer indicates their phones' battery health by default? Non!
@wisdomyaw03 what they are choosing to say in iOS now is reasonable-“unverified”. Followed by the Battery health. What they said before is unreasonable “service” followed by no information and a message that says “there is an issue with your battery”. That was a complete lie and extremely misleading. This misleading message is responsible IMO for a phone on my desk that has caught on fire. It belonged to a man who wanted to see battery health and tried to do spot welding of the original BMS to a new cell using a spot welder he bought on Amazon.
@@JessaJones the only phones I have difficulty in differentiating is the 13 vs 14. Do you know any physical outside differences between the two you could share?
@@JessaJones 13 Pro Max. It is $217 for the part before return of the affect part, and $186 after. And b/c Apple does business in every state in this nation, I'm getting hit with NYC tax of 8.8% on top of that. The original module was not in the repair lot I bought, but the board was functional, 256 GB, and no activation lock. I put it in a new shell that was also in the lot, new screen all that and everything. I pulled FaceID from a non-activation locked iPhone 13 Pro Max and it still doesn't pair on 18.1 beta or 18.0. This is going to be an expensive repair. I have two actually that need this repair, but I'm likely going to sell one to cover the other.
POV me swapping the board to keep battery health 😈 take that Apple. But now without doing the BMS swap it keeps health so it’s the same as doing a screen repair.
In my opinion, this is bad. Here's why: many third-party batteries have a controller that is set at the factory to 100%, but over time, these percentages are not recalculated because these controllers were not designed to recalculate percentages, even after 1000 cycles it will still be 100%. Most likely, there will be many scammers selling used devices who will say that the battery was changed quite recently, look, it says 100%! But in fact, the battery may already be significantly worn out.
At 4:10 3UTools is just reading the BMS' programmed value, not necessarily the true capacity of the cells. So you really have to trust the manufacturer's BMS value which may or may not be the most accurate.
Did you know that after replacing the battery you should fully charge the device uninterruptedly for 2 hours and then discharge it and drain it until it shuts off. Upon that 1st initial restart the device would have calibrated the true battery capacity in which it can provide an accurate health value. If you read up about “battery health and charging” on Apple’s official website they even state that optimised battery will occasionally charge the device to 100% to get accurate battery health data.****(only on iPhone 11 and up). So even if you don’t do that first calibration of the new battery the device will continue to measure accurate health values.
one of the reason why BMS board is transferred is because BMS chips in some aftermarket batteries are crap quality and just" burn": batteries very. quickly.
On what evidence is the lithium ion cell in those same batteries “safe” Making hardware hybrids of a battery management system with no understanding of battery chemistry seems like a horribly bad idea.
fake batteries, fake battery information in 3u tools, battery health stays at 100 percent forever, I watched this movie already! and tell your branch in Sofia to correct their business cards because it says "Ipad ReBab"🤷
3utools is reading the information reported to the CPU on the BMS board. Battery health most certainly does NOT stay at 100% with xcap batteries. There is only one iPad Rehab and it’s in Honeoye Falls NY

I'd love to see 1:1 test comparison, OEM vs 3rd party battery long term usage, health drop and whether it really increases iphone battery run
Thanks!
Yesss awesome Apple
Shame my i7+ is stuck w iOS 15.8
Does not display after market battery not recognized message in case of a change
I waiiting for iphone 12 ( display, battery, faceid )
I believe you can do that. Mama
It can be done now too, but with lots of silly hackery which should be completely unnecessary. F*CK APPLE!
As well my truetone has been restored❤️ after the update btw im using XSMax one of the oldest iphone supported 😂
Eh they will probably "Fix" it soon. Apple is Apple.
no they will not, it's part of what they agree for the rights of repair laws
Way people of android don't care about healthy of battery.. Apple has made us fall into the battery health trap.😅
FINALLY, to be confirmed, my old phone Iphone SE 2.gen has %93 (DEJI) battery health after 1 year usage by my Father
Anybody know what the cheat sheet in the back says at 5:20?
It’s this: ipadrehab.store/products/identify-cheat-sheet-poster?_pos=1&_sid=ff154b92c&_ss=r
@@JessaJones Awesome, thanks for the quick response!
@@JessaJones the only phones I have difficulty in differentiating is the 13 vs 14. Do you know any physical outside differences between the two you could share?
iPhone 12 and later is more common in parts pairing than the 11 and xr
I just want to fix FaceID. Please.
I am looking at paying almost $200 for the part ;-;
For apple self service true depth cam? That is a real shame. What device are you trying to fix?
Oh you’re in NY? Let’s take this up with Letitia James.
POV me swapping the board to keep battery health 😈 take that Apple. But now without doing the BMS swap it keeps health so it’s the same as doing a screen repair.
Shame on apple to make something simple complicated
it's something! :D
Am I the only one who thinks this is a bug that’s going to be fixed in the next update?
In my opinion, this is bad. Here's why: many third-party batteries have a controller that is set at the factory to 100%, but over time, these percentages are not recalculated because these controllers were not designed to recalculate percentages, even after 1000 cycles it will still be 100%. Most likely, there will be many scammers selling used devices who will say that the battery was changed quite recently, look, it says 100%! But in fact, the battery may already be significantly worn out.
Yeah that’s what many been doing, you get a flex tag and can make an iPhone say 100% even though it’s not the right percentage
It’s already like this and has been for years.
@@Gunzoski
don’t forget the first 5 times charge 0-100% use charge 5wat don’t use PD charge for learning phone new capacity and show you correct
Apple still continues with the shitty politics. Next phone i will buy will not be an iPhone.
First from Philippines😮
R u married ?
one of the reason why BMS board is transferred is because BMS chips in some aftermarket batteries are crap quality and just" burn": batteries very.
