Wow, great, the wait was definitely worth it! You've hammered the plaques into the aluminum much better than I managed to do. (The link in the description doesn't work 😉 )
Unfortunately, I posted the project later than I imagined. I thank you again for your work 😊. Sorry again that the link doesn't work. I've changed the link now. But it takes a while for RUclips to make it visible to everyone.
Making a new copper ring, man that looked effortless and my mind couldn't understand how you achieved it. You must be a machinist with all the shortcuts and tricks! Amazing
But it has to be aluminum. Metal would be too hard and break the plastic 3d print. but with thin sheet aluminum it goes very well. you can print so many different shapes
I feel like a minor improvement on the original design would be to slight recess around the holes so the upper edge of the metal ring would sit completely flush with the table. But also dang, the manufacturing of that missing ring was spot on!
I thought about that too but the reason it isn't like that is because the green felt makes up for the extra space and in the end it's all one smooth flat surface. If they were recessed the felt would be pretty difficult to fit under and around all of the rings considering the recess would be a straight 90 degree cylinder, it would cause strain to the felt over time and the felt would still add height to the rings.
@@MWRestoration i got them as a gift a long time ago, though i havent used them in 10 years. always strive to conserve the past, they will never make things like these ever again.
There's lots of things I really enjoyed about this video. I was impressed with how you made the ring out of copper tube and how you made and finished the numbers. But what I like most is how accessible this is. Based on this video alone, if I wanted to, I could repeat this process. It's a soothing and cathartic video that I liked from start to finish.
Great work! I could watch you all day! You have a wonderful selection of very expensive equipment and tools. Not only that but you know how to use them well. God bless.❤
Sometimes what works, just works. This is _the_ style for restoration vids. Everyone puts their own twist on it, but the nondescript hands working over a bare table and lathe is the go to. Still rad, just interesting.
Brilliant work and great results! Thank you for the work done and for the opportunity to get acquainted with the forgotten page of the last century bar life. 5 stars!!!
Oh man I look up and down Kleinanzeigen and spend this way at least two hours a day, but you pull one unique item out of your cylinder after the other 😂. Thank you once again for an amazing restoration 😉👍
Hey RUclips friend 😊. You also make cool videos. you're right, I also look all the time on ebay classified ads to see if anyone has posted anything new. it's a bit crazy that you're looking for very old rusty objects. Where most people only buy new things. are you also from germany 🇩🇪?
Very high quality work, i like the 3D printed number molds. I think the only thing that might be more appropriate for such an old item would be to use oil paint on the aluminum numbers, and maybe polish or nickel plate the corners and latches rather than plastic coat "chrome"
This looks like a home version of the game given the description of the rules. It also looks like the early version of a coin-op game called Hooligan Pool which seems to have very similar rules. I've never seen a Hooligan Pool machine in the wild but it would be a treat to see this or Hooligan Pool for real. Beautiful work, I'm saving this video so I can make my own copy.
Absolutely beautiful to watch and a superb restoration, the numbers were beautifully done. Just to complete the job you should draw a baulk line across the table with a 'D' on it and there should be either three or four skittles, depending on which rules you play to. One should be black, two should be white and there can be a red one. I have a full sized one and very much enjoy a game when I have visitors.
This is so inspirational. I am a maker and this quality of work drives me to want to make beautiful things. In my opinion you deserve to be so proud of your work.
Fascinating. The ways you made the pocket rings, and especially using the 3d printed mold to hammer out the labels, were really surprising to me. But looks great.
Looks amazing, my family used to make billiard tables, the only step missing is leveling the table, you can see that the table is not leveled when he started playing.
Absolutely fantastic work! I am telling you right now. That person should be a professional restorer who fixes old things by running a restoring business to make some money.
Throwing the parts to be restored hard and rather reckless onto a solid surface could possibly expose them to potential further damage and/or wear and tear. But then again, placing them gently and carefully most likely won't be dramatic and interesting enough for RUclips viewers nowadays....
That's exactly how it is. I've had some comments as to why I didn't use a wood spatula to fill in the holes. I explained to people that you don't always have to repair everything 100 percent. You should be able to tell that this is a very old item, but it is in good condition.

Beautiful work. I never tought possible to emboss metal with 3D printed plastic. It's way less brittle than I imagined.
But it has to be aluminum. Metal would be too hard and break the plastic 3d print. but with thin sheet aluminum it goes very well. you can print so many different shapes
If it works on aluminum, it would also work on annealed 321 stainless of the same thickness

Thanks for your comment 👍. I'm still amazed at how the ring was made. it's so intense that you can make a ring out of a metal tube. just crazy. 😁
Looks amazing, but it would have been nice to keep some of the original patina.
part of the challenge is to overcome the edge of the rings
I thought about that too but the reason it isn't like that is because the green felt makes up for the extra space and in the end it's all one smooth flat surface.
