- Today I’m reviewing the Golden Goose Superstar sneaker! This distressed designer sneaker is made in Italy and has a retail price of $400. That's a simple hoodie with no strange design though. You might wanna buy it for the quality of the brand but you don't cope with anything weird.
Hands down the most comfortable sneaker I've ever worn (and I've worn many) I was very skeptical at first especially because of the price. Thought it was just a lot of hype. Then one day I came across a pair (brand new in their box) at a reputable consignment store for $250 so I took the plunge. Hooked! I'm on my 3rd pair and have no regrets. They're not for everyone in terms of style and price but if you're debating whether or not they're worth it I can unequivocally say "Yes they are".
You need your head tested.
I wouldn't wear them in a heavy fog.

Finally an honest review that’s not coming from a stay at home mom driving a SUV. I think this review is pretty spot on. I have 2 pair of GGDB and probably around 20-25 other designer sneakers. The leather on these are cheap (compared to my Lanvins, Rick Owens etc). The outsoles wear quick. No cushioning whatsoever. However the value lies with the pre-distressed look. You don’t have to care where you walk or clean them. But anyone saying the quality is amazing and they are super comfortable either don’t have any experience with high end Italian leather shoes, or they are suffering from buyers confirmation bias.
I like my GGDB sneakers, but they are also the cheapest in my sneaker-collection. I would not recommend saving up to buy your first pair of expensive sneakers and going with these. There are plenty better quality options.

Agreed. That retail tag is too much but i copped a pair for 60% off from End Clothing and they are in my top 10 sneakers. mine are a really nice brown calfskin suede with a cream leather star. They are "designer" skate shoes, which is why they have the worn look (i.e. Nigel Jordan 1s). All y'all loving the Nigel concept and paying $400 resale for those but dogging these are absolute hypocrites LOL.
Honestly, GGDB SSTAR is one of those shoes where you can easily wear a suit or dress up with.

I love everything about golden goose. I recently like stopped being a sneaker head. I still had all my old Jordan’s that I didn’t wear anymore so flipped a couple of pairs of retros to buy a pair of golden goose sneakers. I use to no wear shoes just because I didn’t want them to get beat up looks wise, but these came pre distressed and for some weird reason it gives me peace. I can wear them all day and no worry about scuffs or dirt. I plan to sell on my retros to buy a few pairs of different model golden gooses. Also they are hand made in Italy and also DB stands for deluxe brand.
Not joking my auntie has those and she asked me to guess how much they cost and I said about £60 and when she said £400 I was like you can get better shoes for that 😂

I think these also served as an inspiration for virgil, as he did wear them at some point (and even did a collab). The brand served as a catalyst for other brands (eg. ysl) to bring de-stressed sneakers into their line and offerings. It's a high-end product that brings some retro vibes, and if you're not a fan of the beat-up look, they also have clean versions of their sneakers. I personally bought them for their silouhette!

Aloha Seth! I absolutely love GG. The lure for me, was that it already comes pre distressed, like jeans. I wore my Goldens straight out of the box without freaking out , and not worrying about getting them dirty! My Stan Smiths are still sitting in box, still looking clean , not worn in pubic in the fear of getting them messed up! Lol
I've got this exact pair two years ago and after wearing it uninterruptedly multiple times a week I can just say it's a great shoe, the leather gets really soft and comfortable and adapts to your foot really nicely the more you wear it. Even though it's white it doesn't even look old because the few creases it has acquired over time just look like they were there from the start lmao
I think it's more of a shoe made to last even though I think most people buy it for the "brand" and "premium" status, which I think is a shame
I also paid 300€ which might just be due to the fact I live in Europe

For retail yes, but often you can get them for nearly 50% on certain fashionwear sites. Got mine for $280 on END.

The shoes are actually distressed by hand. Wife has a few pairs and quality is amazing it’s not regular factory leather like you said.
You can find some Italian manufacturers who handcraft theirs own shoes for half that price.

These are absolutely worth it on quality materials build and design alone, very similar to Saint Laurent and Gucci. The brand makes it cooler for sure.
That’s what you would like other people to think. If your into high fashion brands don’t fall for this bullshit. If you like the design just take a Stan Smith. If you like Italian brands in general, there are lots to choose from. This shoe is a scam. Don’t throw 400$ in the trash.

I just got my second pair of em and 100% recommend these, quality is great even though sold heel part starts getting used after more than 250-300 wears.I would advise putting shoe horns in these so that they maintain their shape (didn’t do that for my 1st pair 🙈🙈) as well as lacing them not keeping default config

I only have one expensive pair of shoes. Some limited edition Dunks for like 900€. My other shoes are like 90 to 150€. I will buy the Golden Goose because its really nice, there is something special abt them.
You get just as much props from women for these as you would for most designer brands and the stress of trying to keep your sneakers crispy is eliminated. I hated these at first but decided to try something new and gave them a shot. It turned out to be a great decision. I wear them more frequently than any of my other designer shoes, so for once I’m actually getting my money’s worth out of an expensive pair of sneakers, I don’t have the stress of worrying about protecting them when I’m out and about, they go with almost everything, and they still get plenty of compliments from strangers (mostly women). I actually wish I bought these instead of a pair of Gucci’s I paid $600+ for that I never wear…
I mean that's like saying 'why would you spend 2 grand on a pair of travis off whites' there isn't that much of a quality difference, no special treatment, just a brand name and a different look which is what shoes like these are made for, to be valued not by the general public but the people who are into those sort of niche sneaker/designer brands.

That sneaker is actually dope. Alot of Chinese people wear it in Southern California. I personally would not have got the basic one you copped, I would have gone with a better designed one so you feel like you got more bang for your buck,. i.e Super-Star sneaker with tie-die leather, or the Slide sneakers in leopard-print pony skin
This is the shoe of choice in South Korea everyone is rocking them. Going to have to get me a pair to blend in lol!

GGDB = Golden Goose Deluxe Brand. Glad you did a video on these. It’s said that people buy the shoe not only for the name but because it is handmade in Italy, and since they are all distressed by hand, each one is different and can be considered a work of Art. Not sure I agree but that’s what I’ve heard.

I like these shoes bc they’re gonna get dirty eventually and buying a “dirty pair” and allowing them to get dirty still keeps their value
I own a few pairs and I love how they feel. You can just slip these on and you are good to go. They are also made that way on the heel to make you look taller yet the shoe itself looks flat so no one will noticed your extra inch in height (seth). Part of the appeal is knowing you own designer without being too loud about it like people who wear: Gucci, LV, Fendi etc.
They are expensive because they are made in italy using high quality materials and their workers are paid fair wages unlike nike and other brands that use cheap Chinese and sometimes child labor.
One think to note is that you can find these on sale for half price, ~$260, which in my opinion is definitely worth.
P.s. You chose the most basic shoe out of their incredibly creative line up of sneakers.

This review is absolutely useless. I work in a shop where we sell them in Italy. It's the most requested shoe here. It' completely made in Italy where salaries and taxes are properly payed. Not as Adidas or nike which are made by children in South Asia, hence the cost. It's a superbly comfortable shoe, the insole it's not made by leather (as you say)but from synthetic foam so that the shoe adapts to the foot and not viceversa. Lastly, you choosed the most basic and boring model. There are an infinite amount of colors, shapes, and materials they are made from. Goolden Goose started off their business because of Texas boots, which Mr Ralph Lauren himself saw and asked them to produce it for him. After that they made sneakers. I can't believe you are actually making a review without even knowing their full name and based only on the price tag. What are we talking about? your personal opinion just because you have a tool called you tube? this doesnt make sense, get yourself properly informed before talking to an audience who believes you

I mean that's good and all lmao but personally i think the shoe looks ugly af (and I've looked at a lot of their shoes and maybe liked one or two of them, but the distressed/old worn in look really isn't my thing i think) and clearly it wasn't comfortable to him so :shrug: even if you say all that, if he doesn't think the appearance/comfort is worth it that's his opinion, i don't know if you bringing in the history and the customizability of the shoe would change his mind, or in this case, mine either.

just picked up a pair of these yesterday, and it comes down to personal preference, i bought them because they look good casually and surprisingly sweet with a suit. so an all purpose shoe if you will.

You should do your full research before posting videos. You didn’t even know the name of the shoe. It’s called GOLDEN GOOSE DELUXE BRAND(GGDB) and their quality is really like Gucci and all other big designer brands.
I can't speak for other people, but I personally don't buy these shoes 'just because of the brand name'. For me they are the ultimate casual sneakers, they have the same vibe of some worn in Vans or Converse but are way better quality and they are not as standard as say a pair of Vans. I can totally see why hypebeasts (like you) don't like this shoe.
This is a piece of art. Don't compare it to Stan Smith. People buying it not because of the brand, they buy it for the vintage look.

My friend just paid $750 for a pair of GG with Swarovski crystals. We went to the park, and she cut her heel with one of them. She had to take the damn shoes off and walked barefoot back to her car, I laughed my ass off!
I love ggdb, but when I got a pair and actually put them on I kind of lost my taste for it. They’re designed to be small and slender on your feet and look “chic” for the most part. You could upsize, but then they look kind of long on the foot. They aren’t at all the skate shoe or street wear type of shoe I thought they’d be. They are high fashion. They are marketed towards the European or New York kind of yuppie fashion. You know, the “folks who wear a fancy dress shirt or a nice skirt but then match it with an ironic pair of dirty converse shoes” look. I didn’t buy a pair because I wanted to flex the brand. I wanted something personalized and that’s specifically what they offer which I respect. I also thought they looked cool. The craftsmanship is great too. They practically wreak of genuine leather. But like I said they’re too slim, and they’re pretty much meant to be styled ironically in a chic fashion (which I’m not a fan of). If I find a pair that fits a little wider, I’d gladly pay for it.
I find Golden Goose such a bland company that hopped-on the low-top all-white sneaker train that is produced at a cheap cost but let us slap a gigantic star on it and jack-up the price.

2 years after this video came out i just purchased these w the black heal and now they cost 525 .00 plus ny tax 572.00 total
I got a pair and will probably get more. The complete 100% reason is because, after w/o years, I’m done with sneakers made for 90 year old patients that need orthopedic shoes to walk around. I’ve tried to find ‘retro’ sneaks (think Queen live Aid). You know, just a pair of shoes that don’t extend an inch all around the sole that looks like bubble gum is the foundation. Thank god for golden goose

So the insole is like that because it’s an inverted heel. It makes your legs look more tone and adds height.
I do have a pair, and other low profile Italian sneakers from Koio, Oliver Cabell, Artisan Lab, etc. They look way better and more sophisticated than Jordan and Yeezy (I'm not a kid)

They have no idea, to the average, they look cheap and if you're not up on high fashion you wouldn't know. First pair zip high top aren't as comfortable as the ones I copped today.
