I can't tell you how many times I've delivered loads to small companies and the owner asked how much i was paid to deliver and found my suspicions were correct. The broker kept almost half what was paid. Brokers are absolutely stealing from truckers. 100% true. Brokers are a huge problem in the industry.

I just booked a 700 mile reefer load from WI to MO, first guy I got on the phone said he could do $1750 but then said because I didn’t have any equipment inspections that I would need to talk to their compliance team and he gave me their number, I called and they approved me for the load. I call back to the broker side and talked to a different broker but he’s saying $1500, I told him what happened and what price I agreed to take the load, I declined to take the load for $1500. The original broker called me back saying he could do the $1750. Tell me how brokers aren’t the problem!

That's why when a broker lowers the rate on a lane by $500.00 from one week to the next, I go and try to get in touch with the shipping manager or the sales team and I try to get in with my rate. As a small carrier, I can't tell you how much brokers help me go back and beet them on their bitting for loads.

You don't take into account that you have to get the customers
And the very large brokerages will sign contracts with the customers and then Hand the contract back as unfulfillable after 2/3 of the contract is done and they have gotten a lot of the money
They will tell the customer that it's because of the economics
And that it is the customers fault for not paying more
    I've personally seen it
That's just one way that the brokerages get huge profits
Also large brokerages lockdown entire areas by under bidding people for a short time until they get a contract and no one can get customers in that area

I actually used to work at TQL (everyone’s favorite) and they would screw us brokers too. They offered on average 15-20% commission per load and we wouldn’t see any of that money until we got more commission than our base salary. Basically a draw. So that would basically force us to overcharge customers and under pay carriers just so that we could make a living. I couldn’t do it anymore

The problem is with brokers and they will just close down and open another company ive had loads that was also delayed from bad weather and had to sit for 4 days for another appointment or writing at a bay for 15 hours at amazon to get unloaded and not get oayed for my time. The shippers should be fined by the government for delaying trucks for dayslike the way they do if your 1 hour late for a 2000 mile load and id prefer set rates because most of the times we dont even make $2.50 per mile and im 150% sure brokers are all taking 40% to 60% off loads i know ive been booking my own loads for 10 years and been in the industry for 25 years brokers and receivers are the problem and those crooked carriers in chicago

Somehow the time it takes at the pick up and delivery points dont get mentioned here. Yes, brokers commissions are a problem. So are their incessant calls every 4 hours. Someone has to pay those guys. And it comes out of my money. But waiting to a pickup for 5 hours when you actually got there before the appointment time costs all of the drivers money. In a similar way spending extra hours trying to deliver a load is costly and highly irritating. I told my dispatch I was not taking any more JB Swift loads since they take MANY extra hours loading or delivery with no compensation. Horrible company. Most of us get paid by the mile, not the hour.

Big shippers and plants have contracts with brokers and carriers and those contracts typically pay better. Until it’s time to renegotiate the contracts brokers are making big bucks in this market. Thats why the tender rejections rates are so low. Most small shippers are still paying good rates to brokers and they are keeping 35-50%.. In the real estate business everybody involved in the deal can see how much the broker makes. Why cant we have this in the transportation?

@@dragandrag24 That's excuse to throw it on carriers. They have no choice cause the broker's would pass it cheap with same price to another carries that's why they take the cheap rate. Do your education please. If that was true why is the cheap rate the broker gives us the same rate to another carries. So this is why Carriers goes out of business cause they can't afford fuel cause the rate is cheap that broker gives and if they don't take all the broker's are giving peanuts and carriers sticks to his guns he ends up out of business than broker as well ends up out. They like politicians instead of coming to a mutual agreement and helping each other out they screw each other over money and greed mostly the broker cause he has the power with load and driver ends up with 100. 00 to his name after fuel and expenses. May come to an excuse and say dumb shit like we didn't ask you to be a trucker 😆 same thing with broker when their business goes down hill we didn't ask you to be a broker smh reduculios statements what people do to each other sad man how you throw it out in one business. Freightbrokers are not just all to blame for I worked at a company that I told the dispatcher, which was the owner of the truck on what she had to do in the truck and doing that office because she didn't know what she was doing. Did she look up for the information of the loads that I had to do being the only driver that she has no. She was just grabbing whatever load the way. She was taught to grab and just give it to the driver instead of her doing her job and checking, make sure that that driver has the timing for everything that's on that book.
She didn't do what she was supposed to do.
And she was blaming the things onto the brokers. What is was her doing not doing her job

Only problem with the brokers is when times get tough they take more!
They have to like any corporation to keep increasing gdp's. As the internet keeps supplying new programs soon they will choke themselves out of a job. Its basically a secondary insurance for the goods transported! It can be automated, Companies can put in bids averaged per hour per distance but then cover the cost of weather because they decided to ship things back and forth in extreme conditions. Pay the fluctuating fuel taxes or go after the government for over pricing the needs we need to build the system for us all! Have you really looked into that what are we doing anyways? We have enough houses.
We have enough gas to heat the houses, flowing natural gas makes gasoline. We could travel but what for if your set up and happy raising and growing, storing food.
We have plenty of land to grow way more food not grain for other countries right here, billions of acres of open land.
We have water heat and shelter. What else do we need? Odd to me now. I work 250-300 hours per month. Where is the money going? Right back into the system. If they want the help ill work for free id just like an acher of land a cabin by the lake and a few friends to share it with. Why the money? But im not interested in a chip. So im at odds whats next in the industry. Where is this future going with out a revolution of some sort.
Maybe thats your next step get together with all the freight shippers and shippers you know help cut them out. Make the program for us all. Companies can pick the freight shippers accordingly. I seen you show us the way our carrier profiles are built. Anyways like normal iv said enough lol thanks your information is great!

How long $2 or less lasted and will probably last for a very long time to come?
$2.50 average is no question a lot lot lot better for everyone including shippers…at least they will know exactly how much they have to spend without any compromise.
But here comes someone to tell me to wait until I will see a better day….in meantime I still have to pay all the expenses from crap rates or even free freight lately.
Everything is up but income is down or many times non existent…just to pay the bills for this crap business.
I will take the $2.50 for OTR van equipment for example all years long…at least I’m making something vs working for free as the market stands now.

They are parasitical scum, but it is pointless to blame them. SHIPPERS ARE TO BLAME for using brokers rather than asset-based carriers. Dedicated contract freight does not involve a broker. Spot market freight has not required brokers since the advent of the Internet, a quarter of a century now, at least. Shippers can simply post on the online load boards, and only accept offers from carriers, including especially independent OOs. Problem solved.

This guy is either a fool who have no idea what he’s talking about or he’s talking out the side of his mouth. You decide. Brokers don’t have a forty percent mark up. The load pays $1 per mile, they keep 20-60 cents for them selves and pay the rest to companies. Capping doesn’t mean put a limit on how much the broker can charge the customer. It means putting a limit on the percentage they can take. This guy is pissing in our faces and telling us it’s rain.
