“We feel like we’ve pulled off a magic trick,” Dave King says, “changing the lineup from a trio to a quartet with guitar and saxophone that still sounds coherent as The Bad Plus. Having two main composers was our greatest card to play. Our language remains, and that’s the magic.”
This is the best jazz band out there. It's crazy how much musicality and reinvention they achieved with the addition of Speed and Monder (who is out of this world). It's my favorite The Bad Plus version.
My fav band in those years.. thank you guys to keep jazz creativity alive.. as a drummer I know how difficult this days is to find ppl to play great stuff like yours...you guys the best
Nice! I will hardly ever have the chance to visit one of their concerts. The recording quality of this live performance is outstanding. Very nice, indeed.
Had no idea The Bad Plus had replaced piano with guitar as the harmony generating instrument in the band. I knew Ethan Iverson had left years ago, but I recall they had a new pianist come in. To be honest I haven't been following them for a while, didn't know they had a saxophonist either.
I was so stoked when Orrin Evans became the "new" guy in 2017 or 2018. Saw them twice, loved it. 2 great albums. But, Orrin let them know in early 2021 that he wanted to work more on his own stuff. This new line up is intriguing to put it mildly. I'm going to see them in a couple of weeks. As always, keeping my ears and mind open.

Absolutely! The rythmic tandem still paints Bad Plus's Soul, with new colors judiciously added on the palette 👌

My favorite Bad Plus lineup! Thanks for all the memories and good luck into the future!
“And that’s how you get the gig!”

Dave King and Antonio Sanchez at the very top for a while now in my book!
I really really like this new lineup,an organic progression .Nice!👍👍👍👍
I have to study but I cant stop listening :)
same here

Going to stream you guys tomorrow at Keystone Korner. Can’t wait. Great sax player. Loved your album with Joshua Redmond. Fantastic new lineup.
There's guitar players...
And then, there's Ben Monder.
XM Sirius Radio intrigued me to RUclips these guys! 🥰
08:11 Anthem for the Earnest
I keep coming back for this. I also love what happens with these chains at 55:50. It feels so intentional but at the same time so random.
Ruined by the lower speed and that ugly saxophone
MAN, what a version of Love Is The Answer!
THANK YOU, BIMHUIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic.

what a graet personnel!!!
Long live TBP. Songs are sounding like the times for me.
Maybe it's because of the presence of Chris Speed, the sound of the band keeps reminding me of Jim Black's AlasNoAxis.
Seeing them at 8 tonight.
how'd you like it??
@@0xNamaskar Killer show, nice dudes.
The sound quality on this concert is better than the studio recorded version of this album!
I love how Ben Monder's guitar fills up the space when comping. I find it so original and sometimes doesn't even sound like a guitar
i'm telling my kids this is the original line-up
Consider the Source brought me here, not a bad transition
Rippin music, shame the guitar is mixed so weird
Great band, horrible editing - oh to just be able to watch the one camera angle that has all four from the front so you can watch who/what you want.
