This is amazing. This is a true art piece. It's like an amazingly beautiful and abstract painting for your ears. I believe he's not caring about commercial success, but instead caring about the actual art form called music. Which IS THE path of righteousness for artists. Art isn't for money. Art is for art. In that way Ben Monder is a successful artist. Successful artist in the true way.
A brilliant demonstration of guitar virtuosity, recorded on the day of David Bowie's death. Monder contributed wonderfully powerful guitar to "Blackstar"...
No. This is really nice playing, great atmosphere. This is not for everybody, so please don't hate; trust me, there is brilliance going on here. If you don't like, cool. I like it. He controls it very well, and gets what he wants, it is actually pretty amazing.
Another great guitarist who does not get nearly the credit he should.....once again proving in the music business, it’s not how good you are but who is chosen to be promoted!
Very reminiscent of his playing with Paul Motian on Oh What A Beautiful Morning. Love that album (Amorphae). Clearly a player who has gone his own way.
He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.
I have never heard him before or of him before... I was directed here from a comment on my comment on another guitarist work.. wow.. just let your audience promote you these days..
If they need a Full volume sound check, they could do one before recording video, when using earplugs. Otherwise small headset. They are doing a nervous habit, possibly, but it's rude, like scratching, maybe. Your earwax is crumbling on me (?) Meanwhile, I need to get busy doing something nearly this GREAT !!
Wobbly: since you are insulting & stupid, you get the same answer: Yup, I have to agree with you & your taste or else that means you can insult me. My opinion = troll but your opinion = genius world view . Congrats to your tiny ego. You have no class to speak about & therefore don't know what it is. Real musicians don't say stupid stuff, bCuz all composers have their own tastes. GROW UP

Successful artist in the true way.
Thank god this recording exists.

Ay es que Believes mi si me escucharon Crazy mensa Nightwish te hacen Bowie el empaque Pet pues te PPP
And this is why we live.....To experience the greatest art form the world offers us....Music. Ben Monder is pure genius.
his humble acknowledgement of the applause and quiet walk-off are pure Monder

Wonderfull performance, incredible work and that works !
This was genius and incredibly profound music. I'm completely blown away every time I listen to Ben Monder
Ben Monster.
Mind Bender

Both promotion and skill are important.
You have to think sometimes wheter the artist wants that kind of exposure! Ben monder is doing this for a living yes, but mostly as an art expression.
of course. nothing new there
It's that stuff he's got in his ear that makes him play so well.
Definitely - it tells him which notes to play...
Very Nice!
i love that he still uses that old ibanez hahaha, what a freakishly amazing player
+Daniel Steduto Me too. Instead of chasing gear, he's learned to get what he wanted from the guitar he picked early on.
i have one of those........plays and sounds great
Very reminiscent of his playing with Paul Motian on Oh What A Beautiful Morning. Love that album (Amorphae). Clearly a player who has gone his own way.
Всепоглощающее величие звука от виртуозного мастера.
This made me weep.... just transcendent.
Beautiful performance!
Wow!! He’s one of the best!!!
What can we say? just hear and adore. Great job man
Monder just notated a chord progression capturing the ethereal nature of sound.
Right up there with Beethoven's 30th & 32nd piano sonatas. I'm serious.
even that cough at 10:27 was genius. Monder, you really know how to pick your audience.
This version is amazing! :)
gracias, qué maravilla!!
an unforgettable 12 minutes.
Superb.
So beautiful
He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.
Thus spoke Zarathustra
this is ridiculously good
Monder...an authentic Wonder on the six-string.
fabulous..........!!!
incredible! I still dont understand though, why those stompboxes still click so loud, when turned on or off.
That sound is being picked up from an onstage mic. If it was just the amp mic you likely wouldn't hear them. But yeah, why not noiseless switches?
:D Ben Monder?
If they're 'true bypass' they make a bang the first time they're switched on - but should settle down after that
I agree……it makes no sense at all……a lot of guitar technology is stuck in the past
SUPER !!!!!!!!
merci Ben
Just saw Blade Runner 2049. The soundtrack reminded me of this piece.
He also kind of looks like harrison ford
Insane
This guy is insane
He looks like he could be Nathan Fielder's older brother.
perfection
fantastic sound scape. What effects you use makes me curious to know (?)
Totally reminds me of Johan Johansson's score for Mandy.
I can't even.
what a legacy to leave
What are all these crazy effects towards the end? Pedals?
that section starting at 5:00, oh man....
I have never heard him before or of him before... I was directed here from a comment on my comment on another guitarist work.. wow.. just let your audience promote you these days..
What kind of pedals does he use for the last half of the performance?
Wow
you have the same name as monder
nice
Fuck.
Junge warum singst du nich oder marst bessere musig
I always get put off watching a guitarist stuff ear plugs in his ears before he enters mine.

Maybe the earplug got loose?.. And I think that this was shot during a long set, so how could've they prepared for it beforehand?
sounds like random-effects playing in his bedroom transformed into musical genius by his fans
Wow, even Ben Monder has asinine internet trolls. :))
Aryno Wyrth: yes, U r - a Music-taste-nazi Troll.
U have your opinion, I have mine.
"Nazi", huh?
Stay classy.
Oh look, the troll can dish it but can't take it.
