  • Hello and welcome to The Retro Room!
I have decided that my Hot Wheels Batman 1989 Batmobile needs somewhere proper to live. There is only one place, THE BATCAVE!
Yes I have decided to build a 1:18 scale diorama Batcave, from scratch to display the Hot Wheels 1:18 scale Batmobile.
In Part 11, it is finally time to prep this for paint! Starting with sanding down the columns and walls, then removing some excess clay using the knife.
The whole piece is then sprayed with a base colour. After a short wait I then turned to the tunnel side walls, painting them in a cave like colour. Last, I seal up the tunnel with the black card I had made in Part 10.
Some schedule changes coming up! Part 12 will not be available next week, as I want to spend as much time as I can with the final painting I need to do on this. Also, the final episode will be Part 15, bringing this adventure to a close.
Lots to do so let the fun commence!
This will be a multipart series that will be released every Thursday at 9pm until the Batcave is finished!

The black paint does give an illusion of a dark, hollow, never-ending tunnel. Great job! 👍🏾🦇

Looking great! It’s gonna be a fantastic display. Don’t worry about the timing of the videos too much. It’s more important that this Batcave comes out the way you want it.

Looks great! I must say you're a braver man than me to be using that spray can so close to your collectables😁

Haha! Yeah, that was a nervous moment. Fortunately everything is fine. But I have a new area now to build these projects, away from the precious collectables 😀
      Thank you for watching 👍✌️

It's coming along beautifully! Do you have a 1/18 scale Batman figure to go with the diorama? And have you considered making other parts of the 1989 Batcave?

      @MattandTheRetroRoom  10 месяцев назад +1

Thank you! At the moment I do not have a 1/18 scale Keaton Batman. I had two Batmobile’s to choose from. The other was the Jada one that comes will a little figure. But the scale was smaller so stuck with the Hot Wheels.
I’m keeping an eye out for a suitable figure though 👍
For now I’m just focusing on the where the Batmobile parks up. But I’m making it so I can expand on it in the future. I would like to make the armoury and bat computer area to go with it.
      Thank you for watching 👍

@@MattandTheRetroRoom You could try the 3.75 inch Batman figure from The Flash movie by Spin Master. And maybe customize the figure to make it more like the 1989 version.

@Grognack I was thinking about using a 3.75, I think it’s slightly too big but it would work I think. I didn’t think about using the flash batman for it, good recommendation 👍

Would be great if you have Batman figure in 1/18 next to the Batmobile

100% agree! I’m on the hunt for one but I haven’t found anything yet. I did consider using the Jada smaller scale Batmobile which came with a mini figure, but I decided to use the larger Hot Wheels as the size would be easier to work with.
