    I love how Morrigan changed over the game. She cares for her son now rather than using him as a tool. The scene made me tear up when she was willing to give her body to Flemeth. I feel that Flemeth felt a bit bad not treating Morrigan like a daughter when she mentioned it to her. So many feels in this game ;A;

      Morphy You guys do know that Leliana's personality can be 'hard' or 'soft' in Inquisition, just like in Origins, right? There are a couple of encounters that set it. If Leliana is ruthless and sad in your games, I think you 'hardened' her character. She's a lot happier the other way.

    'She was betrayed as I was betrayed --as the world was betrayed! Mythal clawed and crawled her way through the ages to me, and I will see her avenged! Alas, so long as the music plays, we dance'
    Her delivery makes me goosebump and the implications behind these lines alone are enough for a DA IV.

      Vaios Gaintatzis Also note this: There are 9 Elven Gods and 7 Tevinter Old gods. To avoid spoilers, those who have beaten DA:I know that Two Elven gods are still active, which when added together can explain the 7 Tevinter Gods.
      I believe a certain Elven God is the chief cause of The Blight and the one they all blame aims to correct the error of the one all Elves held high above the rest.

    I love how Morrigan goes from the cold and mysterious witch so many of us adored in DAO, to a loving mother who will go to any length for her child in DAI. When I saw how broken up she was about losing Kieran and then how she offered herself to Flemeth to protect him, I started crying. Character development done right.

      There was a reason I romanced her over Leliana and it had nothing to do with her acerbic wit... ok that was a factor too. But in games like this... I tend to go for the characters with the most potential. Morrigan was hard and embittered in Origins but the warden falling for her, bringing out her human side, it way more significance than romancing the 'nice girl' same thing with Isabella, almost. (plus i always felt that Merrill needed a mentor more than she needed a boyfriend)

      Plus, Leliana's story makes more sense if she stays alone and finally becomes Divine after all that she lived through, ready to lead the Chantry in a brave new direction.
      This all is put in perspective if Alistair is also king. Sten (most probably) is the new Arishok after the one in DA2 died, Alistair is King of Ferelden, Leliana is either Divine or very damn close to being that powerful anyway. The party Warden led was constructed beautifully in terms of character harmony.

    You can't help but feel sorry for Flemeth after Morrigan's said "I maybe many things...but I will not be the Mother you were to me". Her expression says it all....mighty being or not those words truly hurt her...because she knew she was right. Deep down Flemeth always cared for Morrigan,she's just not good at showing it.

      Given how Flemeth basically destroyed and obliterated Morrigan's childhood and robbed her of any normalcy and abused her on so many levels. It was only during and after Origins (especially if the Warden romances her) that she understands just how down right terrible her mother was to her. And even if Morrigan was short sided and angry at her...she had good reason to be.

      I think this whole thing was a test. She wanted to see if Morrigan had learned to be a better mother than her perhaps for her own peace of mind. I'd like to think so but she's an immortal who has, if for no other reason than living a long damn time and seeing the patterns of men repeat themselves age by age, gained a measure of foresight. So its entirely possible there was far more to this than simply indulging her maternal curiosity.

      All the other elves don't have a say in this. It's his way or the highway, and he makes that damn clear at the end of Trespasser.
      So the ones like Sera? Enslaved or killed. Elves in circles or college of enchanters? All dead or murdered. The ones in the Qun? They're super fucking dead as solas hates Qun more than anything, except maybe Evanuris. Briala's people in Orlais? Might as well die right then and there because Solas hates her and her people as well.
      Trespasser epilogue remarked that Elven servants across Thedas were disappearing, but NOT ALL elves.
      Mind you, there's also the matter of half elvhen such as Alistair or Feynriel, of which is not an insignificant number, according to DA books.
      In DA4, my character is gonna be elven, if at possible Dalish, and he/she is gonna murder Solas so fucking hard. And any other Evanuris that might appear as well. The poetic justice is gonna be sweet.

    Ah Flemeth. Such a tragic character. A young girl trapped in a loveless marriage, who tried to escape it through finding love in another man, only for her jealous husband to tear them apart, slaughter her love, and throw her in a dungeon. She cries out in the dark for vengeance, and found what is indescribably the most unlikely of kindred spirits. The old god Mythal, creator of the world, a shaper of the fade like none other before or since, now just a withered husk of a spirit thanks to the betrayal of one she cared for deeply. The two form a pact, they swear to help each other find vengeance for the wrongs against them...and out the other side comes Flemeth, the Witch of the Wilds, Ashabellanar, and so many other names all for the same entity, a broken and vengeful goddess in mortal form, wise, ancient, and powerful.
    And she chooses to spend her time trading banter with those that fate deems historically important for anything from 5-15 minutes at a time, most of whom are incredibly snarky toward the being that can literally turn into a dragon and fucking eat them.

    What a good dialogue writing and acting. Arcane yet personal, metaphysical yet emotional. As I have seen in some of the comments in other videos, this saga might have its shortcomings and mistakes for the experts to talk about -nor that I am at all cognisant enough to understand or even see them-, but evidently great creative minds were involved in the delivery. Vibrantly intense, meaningful, with a hue of artistic purpose and trascendence that I value a lot.

    Flemeth yay!!!
    the Epilogue is unclear, though i think Flemeth is the one left standing at the end. Plus Flemeth isn't all the evil people are making her out to be. She said Morrigan was never in any danger from her, she clearly does love them..or have feelings for her family. Go Flemeth!!

    • @Machowesker17
      @Machowesker17 10 лет назад

      To me it seems more like Morrigan touched a nerve. The "I will not be the mother that you were" kind of lines can be harsh on just about anyone. Also who is the elven goddess and why she wants vengeance? I never paid much attention to elven lore except for their story and the Eluvians. And the only deity I remember from the elves was Fen'harel. I never knew anything about the others

    • @heavystorm1614
      @heavystorm1614 10 лет назад +2

      Machowesker17 There are two pantheons of the Elven Gods. The benevolent ones, I think, or supposed. These in my opinion also include Sandal and possibly Bodhan. And the forgotten ones (probably the old gods). Fen'Harel was kinda in both of them. Tricking them. I think the vengeance is in regards to man, and how the Imperium brought the downfall of the elves in such a brutal manner. I also think the Maker may be interlinked into this as the king of gods in a way.

    • @Machowesker17

      I think more like when a spirit of justice is corrupted by anger and hatred they exhibit that rare blue glow. Both Anders and Flemeth are (or were in some cases of anders) both full of anger and lust for punishment and vengeance. I doubt there's much connection between Anders and Flemeth. Flemeth is smart and is always three steps ahead of everyone but I doubt she cares about every little detail like Anders.

    • @MysticStormia
      @MysticStormia 10 лет назад +1

      Great ideas guys XD. Its so interesting...the statue of the dragon, has to mean somthing. It is clearly Flemeth...well Mythal, whilst the wolf is of course Fenharel. I like the idea said earlier about the old gods being the forgotten ones. Im starting to think from this and that dragon statue that everything is interconnected. the olds gods and the elven pantheon were the same, and that idea of the maker being the king? Not sure but they were betrayed and i think that maybe the maker betrayed them. Considering we know the legend behind Fen henral is wrong to some extent since its confirmed that he did not betray elven deities, as he is not the one Mythal is after, in fact he is a "old friend" and still is. I think that could be a great twist on things. The world stands divided because of their belief, but wat if Bioware reveals that everyone is worshipping the same belief but at different angles?? Like they all contain bits and pieces of the one big picture. In dragon age 4 or maybe a dlc it could be like the gods vs the maker ahaha. There are two old gods left and....wait..O.o...Wat if they are trying to free the last old gods BEFORE the taint. Or forgotten ones and such...so many ideas... the other gods are all trapped in another dimension, to which i think the eluvian leads to. That or the maker XD.

    The son saw how that Morrigan was frustrated because she was worried about him and he silently begged his grandmother to let him be with his dear mother. Flemeth tested Morrigan with the offer and when she saw that she was willing to sacrifice her own life for her son she was deeply moved and she relized that her grandson should postpone his destiny and grow up with his loving mother. I think that she kept the blue spirit for safekeeping and set the path for Morrigan to become wiser in the future. Cold pragmatism and realism was the way Flemeth showed her love because she thought that in this ruthless world this is the only way but all that Morrigan has ever wanted was emotional warmness and honesty. It broke my heart to see how Morrigan felt unloved, dissilusioned, betrayed and finally full of guilt, secret admiration and doubt and how Flemeth felt misunderstood, vilified and profoundly lonely in her godlike strength and wisdom. Still, I think that Morrigan's display of emotions had a deep impact on Flemeth's worldview, Morrigan is emotionaly pwned and on the path to become like her mother and they are so entangled with eachother that the word "love" is an understatement.

I know Morrigan shares some things in DA:O about her childhood, and while some of Flemeth's parenting may have been questionable, she doesn't seem so bad. Unpredictable and mysterious, sure. But it seems a little out of her character to be abusive and uncaring.

      In Morrigan's 'nightmare' in the Fade during the Circle quest in Origins, an illusory Flemeth appears. Morrigan taunts the phantom, insisting its portrayal of Flemeth is unconvincing. When the spirit slaps Morrigan harshly, saying, "This is what you get for not showing respect!" Morrigan then says something along the lines of "That's more like it."
      This basically confirms Flemeth had a tendency to physically abuse Morrigan, to say nothing of the obvious psychological abuse going on as well. Morrigan herself isn't even aware of how co-dependent their relationship is at the start of the game.

    SPOILER ALERT!
    At the end of the fifth blight, Morrigan performed a ritual that was recorded in Flemeth Grimoire that acted to preserve the soul of the old god, while its vessel, the archdemon was slain by a grey warden. In Inquisition, Flemeth called out to the god child and absorbed his god soul. I wonder if Flemeth has done this every time there was a blight, each time a different daughter of her perform a ritual such as this, raises a child who gives up their soul to Flemeth after which They willingly submit their physical body, Flemeth then lingers on. The Flemeth that we see now if I'm right, Is actually the living embodiment of all five old god souls, and she just gave all of this, plus mythal whatever she maybe, to Solas the Dread Wolf. Why she done that is beyond me and there isn't much clue in the lore for speculation

    • @ZurielWraithblades
      @ZurielWraithblades 10 лет назад

      I dont think Flemeth is as pure as you make her, nor wicked as we've been pressed to by Morrigans stories. I think in time each of her daughters grow and come to understand the need for them to willing take her into them. Their soul becomes part of Flemeth's restrengthening her so that her and Mythal can continue this long 'Dance'.
      Fact that Flemeth was so hurt by Morrigans steadfast belief in her being forcefully taken by Flemeth hurts her, but not as bad as Morrigan believing Flemeth was anything but a good mother (or as good as she could be). To me she shows this by not harming the boy, taking the 3rd option of allowing his soul and body to return with Morrigan and Flemeth still leaves with what she wanted (old god).
      I think we'll come to see in time that the mages when they entered the Golden City betrayed the good nature of the Old Gods/Elven Pantheon and killed someone or most of them...or far worst...enslaved them. Mythal was one of the few to escape though I think barely..hence needing now Flemeth...But this is all my assumptions...

      The ritual prevents a Warden from dying when the soul of the old god attempts to move into his body, because it instead seeks out the child. In the past for each blight, one warden died killing the archdemon. Whether this truly means both souls are forever lost or not is vague but it does mean that the ritual with Morrigan was unique.
      Also worthy of noting, Kieran carries the taint yet does not suffer any effects of it. This in itself means he might have the cure to the calling in his blood, or more.

      But one of Alistair's parents was not a Warden. I believe that really her 'cure' was rare occurance and given how rarely Wardens have children, specially female Wardens birthing themselves. It would be all but nearly unheard of and not something they'd share.
      That or she's possessed by a demon which cured the taint only because she's an abomination...

    With what we know from Trespasser, this whole encounter was SUCH a big foreshadowing as well as leaving us to have a million questions.
    Did Solas, Fen'Harel himself, forcibly take Mythal's soul/power from Flemeth to achieve his god-like powers quicker? Or did he steal the Old God's power, and Mythal/Flemeth pulled a switcheroo like she did in Dragon Age 2 and hop from her old (now turned to stone) body to Morrigan's? Clearly Mythal wants revenge against Solas, who thinks fondly of Mythal and clearly regrets what he did to her. Does he realize that she wants to destroy him for his betrayal? That while Solas thinks his "plan" will checkmate the Evanuris permanently and give magic/immortality back to the elves, Mythal has been awake and possessing Flemeth, plotting a counterplay against Fen'Harel? Or did Mythal's soul slip into Solas as well as all the power of the Old God, and she'll possibly attempt to corrupt him from the inside while Morrigan is her agent, enhanced by the power of the Well? What role will the Inquisitor play in all this, if Flemeth deems them important? Or Hawke, who she imparted plenty of equally cryptic warnings and advice to (and might be drifting about in the Fade, depending on what your choices were at Adamant)? JUST... UGH.
    Too many questions.

    I think that for most people you need that closure with Morigan and the child. I wish I could recreate my Warden mage and be there. I couldn't believe how powerful my mage was.

    So if Morrigan was never in any danger and her body could only be taken willingly, then the entire quest where The Warden must fight and (temporarily) kill Flemeth was for nothing. Instead of explaining that Morrigan isn't in any danger, she attempts to kill The Warden even though he/she is essential to the Dark Ritual, a plan Flemeth devised herself and was the reason she sent Morrigan with The Warden and Alistair in the first place.

      Well, I wouldn't say it was for nothing. It showed us that Morrigan massively mis-understood what Flemeth intended, which she thought was Flemeth wanting to take over her body to lengthen her own life. Morrigan admitted this in the Witch Hunt DLC, she says something like "I thought what Flemeth wanted was immortality, but I was wrong, so very wrong". Flemeth intended to pass the godhood of Mythal to Morrigan. Flemeth knew Solas would want Mythal's godhood to help him in his quest to restore the Elven people so she allowed Solas to take Mythal's godhood (which we see in the final cutscene in DA:I) on the condition he pass it on to Morrigan (This was revealed in some designers notes left in the game's files.).

    This might be a stupid question. But, it is ever explained why there skin is sweaty while in the fade? It's just somewhat odd to see.

    Does anyone know if this changes based on whether you killed Flemeth for her grimoire or took her offer in origins?

    This was an exciting yet emotional moment. Flemmeth looked quite crushed by Morrigan's words. Beyond that if anyone played through without doing the Dragon's keep data transferred, Flemmeth gave hints that not everything written in her grimoire were true. I also found information online regarding the truth of Flemmeth's other daughters hidden in other worlds in different dimensions. I PRAY all of that will be released on the next Dragon Age. It appears there may be a huge war against the gods in the next chapter I can't wait! Andraste, Mythal, and all the Old Gods are the biggest mysteries I have been dying to learn since DAO

      It depends on if you have performed the dark ritual in dragon age 1.. without it, Kieran would not exist in this game

    How do you get the version where you see Flemeth in a forest clearing instead of the Fade and Kieran isn't there?

      Gigi Geniveve Just refuse to do the Dark Ritual in DAO, this way Kieran will never be born, or be born but be human without the old god soul.

    I don't like how they flipped from the obvious implications set up in Dragon Age Origins. It's clear that the intent originally was to have both Flemeth and Morrigan's child be reincarnated Old Gods. Why else would Morrigan be sent on that mission, and how else would Flemeth know about it? Instead Flemeth is just some old Elven mage, and Urthemiel is just hitching on a ride on Kieran rather than being him. Rather anticlimactic.

    I wonder if Flemeth protected Kieran with taking away the old god soul and store it int the eluvian world before Solas "devoured" her at the end.
    Solas has a lot in common with our worlds counterpart of Fenrir.

    I know its not entirely possible.. But i think that it would awesome if Kieran was to be one of our companions in one of the future games.. After all, don't they imply that Morrigan might have had a kid anyways even if you don't do the ritual (In Dragon Age Origins ending)
