Metro officials have no right to say they won’t ride Metro because of crime. They’ve known about this for so long and turned a blind eye. Oh and take away the car from Metro officials. Force them to ride Metro with criminals and the insane. They better say they feel “safe” with a smile even if they have been robbed or attacked.

Fare sweeps I get low income people ride public transportation and Metro shouldn’t make a big deal about enforcing fare payment to make sure riders paid but I think with all of the issues that have been going on and the craziness with the homeless enforcing fare sweeps might cut down on that and if people didn’t pay have officers escort them out it is $1.75 for every 2 hours most people can easily pay that they always say on the speaker system that it is going to be enforced but I never see them enforcing it I think that would kick a lot of the violent and crazy’s off the system of buses and trains simple fix just enforce fare payments I always pay my $1.75 with transfers for two hours and then after that have to pay again for the ride back. It goes to tax money to improve the streets or schools they can use the fare money in a good way. I think they should start to regular enforce the fare sweeps it is all talk but no action let’s see if that actual works to kick out a lot of the violent crazy’s who decided not to pay and then are kicked off.

This is not new. Ten years ago while riding the Metro a passenger in back of me was stabbed in the gut and the victim just said "Hey dude, why'd you stab me?" The hooded assailant just got up and walked away. The bus driver exited to the sidewalk and started yelling, "I'm done! I'm not driving this damn bus any more !" The passengers just sat there as though it was no big deal. It was a horrible experience and I will never ride the Metro again. I was a visitor from out of town and not used to the big city experience.

We need to fund the LAPD so they can hire more officers, get enough equipment to monitor and prevent crime. One officer per car and bus, metal detectors on every turn isle and cameras where officers could monitor “Live” the station’s activity.

LA has resources to put officers in front of two ABANDONED skyscrapers in DTLA, but no resources to patrol the metro and/or enforce fares. C'mon man.
