@@falconmclenny7284 I don’t disagree but with a different environment just like with ginnivan we have seen a change in attitude which may be possible 🤷♂️ I’m not saying it will but clearly nothing happening at Melbourne for him
I tend to agree WC do have the upper hand, he's 29 with $ value he's worth good picks + clubs paying out his contract is he worth that much to other clubs? + a contract @ 29 ? Maybe 2-3 years ago but today? Both will win either way. The big blow will come when Reid leaves.
I'd say they can definitely afford him monetarily, but they cant afford to spend that much money on a risk when list management team is already on the edge of being dropped. probably one of those bargaining statements to try to get melb to front half of the contract cost
Geelong probably have highly paid players coming off contract. Oh wait, those players are playing for far below their market value because of the lifestyle in Geelong, or so the Geelong supporters have been saying for a long time to explain away the apparent lack of a salary cap their club has. Lets just put it all down to "creative accounting". I refer to them as the CCC, aka the cap cheating Cats.
They have misunderstood how the cohort salary band weighting is calculated it isn’t in reference to free agents from the current year. That whole conversation was useless, what Phil Davis is requesting is exactly the current system.
He said Connor Nash and I’m like please be Essendon and and then you’re like no it’s not Essendon come on he’s reading my mind that’s exactly what they need a tall midfielder! Setters ain’t cutting it.
Why would dees trade a top 5 player in the game (in previous seasons) just to get a 2nd round pick and some cash when they're not even replacing him with a top liner. They won't get Houston or Waterman. It really makes no sense.
It does when that player is no longer a shadow of his former self, has a lot of personal issues that the club has to deal with and eats up a truckload of salary cap space.
@gustaaf1892 very dangerous game to doubt a champion. He had 0 pre-season, was about 10kg overweight and sustained a nasty hand injury. People expecting anything more have probably never played any elite sport in their life.
@@MrMooremelody The Dees should treasure him and hang on to him. Perhaps they should even extend his contract. They would have been aware of some of his issues before they extended his contract on the huge money he is on, which should have made them very cautious. I'm sure there are regrets within the club about Oliver's contract.
Clayton Oliver- form is temporary, class is permanent. Clayton’s at his lowest point in his whole career right now in terms of raw numbers, his ceiling is top 5-10 players in the game. You wouldn’t be trading him let him get his game back after a big preseason
He is because he's in contract. Only makes sense for Eagles to let him go if a team pays over. Also it depends on what pick. Big difference in value between say Pick 5 and Pick 15. Both 1st rounders but big difference. Personally I think they should let him go. They haven't even done one move yet to be considered rebuilding.
I would say a first and second is market value for someone who is top 3 in his position in the competition. I think someone will need to come up with more than picking 12 & 25 for it to be worth while for them to let him go.
