  • Except for the 2 people I knew from the EasyParcel Team Building trip, all of us were first-timers in enjoying the caving experience in Gua Tempurung.
Out of the 4 levels of difficulty, we experienced level 3 caving, which left everyone wet. The highest level, level 4, required more physical capability and hiking skills inside the cave.
When we started entering Gua Tempurung, everything was normal, as it's designed for the public (so levels 1 and 2 for the dry route). But once we proceeded deeper into the cave, for the real challenge that required headlamps, the fun experience only began.
The first obstacle was sliding down with your feet close together and trusting your guide to assist you to a safe landing. You could hear a lot of screaming, as it required a bit of bravery to slide down without any supporting line or requirement.
Then, you needed to crawl inside the cave to pass through the route, but at this point, you were still dry.
Please wear long pants, and your knees will be protected in that area.
Finally, you would get wet as your whole body (almost, and it really depended on your body size) was submerged in cold but refreshing water.
Some of the smaller participants even swam over the short sections, as it was easier.
The rest of the journey required a lot of ducking, crawling, and walking through the cave water. So your shoes would fill up with little stones constantly.
Eventually, we'd reach the light and a bigger space, indicating that we were heading towards the exit.
From my memory, it was actually just the beginning and some sections that really required getting wet; the rest involved walking or bending your body to navigate through the cave.
Overall, it was a fun experience to appreciate the incredible scenery of nature, stalactites, and to disconnect from the electronic devices that we face every day.
Like the last scene of a video: there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. To everyone who is still fighting with your life, career, or anything else, remember to never give up and continue step by step to find the light in the future.
