These videos are very helpful, and I don't know how much the manual has changed since 2016, but in 2021 I actually found the manual quite well-written and comprehensive. And most importantly, the module kicks ass 😁
Awesome video! As a note: in the most recent version of the Shapeshifter, they added a bias circuit to the fold control so that it outputs an unfolded version of the signal even when the fold knob is fully CCW. If you feed negative voltages through the fold CV input, it does fully close though. The manual is not updated to reflect this.
Wow, it's a holiday miracle! Thanks for taking this beast on! Always looking for more perspectives/approaches on this bad boy. This no-nonsense up-and-go approach is a great complement to Seth's videos, cheers!
Thank you always was waiting for Inspiration und instrucciones to reinvent the outcome of this mostly underestimated module I got it early in my "modular career " was once fascinanted then went into deep distorsión until I though I had broken its circuits wanted to return it but learned nothing was wrong It can ! crazily distort Sound
I was confused hearing about what the controls don’t do. And darting hands in front of what I was trying to see. I’m happy you think the device is simple. I’m a truly simple person and this is not a simple device. Interesting but harsh sounds you would not put in a baby crib.
Awesome sounds but i don't think i could get used to that menudiving, thats why i gave away the microfreak after two days, i want a button/dial for everything, thats why i started with modular.
When I went to Intellijel HQ, and after owning a few of their modules, I realized I really don't get on that well with their UI. It's not bad, but I always feel like something is missing. ADDAC on the other hand..
Are there 2 different Intellijel Cylonix Shapeshifter units out? I noticed that the newer ones I have seen on Sweetwater's website have a different text on the faceplate and have a RED "OUT 1" patch output. Are these essentially the same machines with the same guts?
Funny you should mention that: ruclips.net/video/91PTAZguaSY/видео.html I haven't actually got one (that one was borrowed) so don't know if I'll get to it but Mr Voltage Control Lab has an awesome series on it: ruclips.net/video/K8OdNJ7fQ-o/видео.html
I don't have one of these, and now I'm glad I don't. It looks wonderfully complicated and capable and sounds great, but ... the controls are overly modal for my tastes. I guess there's no avoiding that really.
John Slee Yeah it is. That is the design principle - it requires an awareness of the various menu states, in practice it's OK when you have your head round them, and of course the benefit is a module that has ridiculous power/potential....
You can get used to the basic stuff fairly quickly but it can take weeks to months for the rest. I have had mine for nearly a year and i am still finding new things with it a great buy for a main oscillator. I put mine through an oscilloscope to better visualise what it can do as well as listening. My vids might help?
Recently got into modular and so far I really think Intellijel is just doing average build quality and average sounding modules. Worth checking the Piston mk3 from Industrial Music Electronics instead of this ;)
I like the "Part one: being..." very f#cking Dickensian, or very Dickens, rather. I think dickensian applies to like, workhouses. Very british, mate. Init.
You and 'Knobs' have the best demos on RUclips, and I don't even own any modular hardware or guitar pedals.
True true true true!!!

thank you. ...good to know!
So glad I have two of these monsters, these videos are reminding me why I got my second one - time to get weirder :)
richard flanagan Two!! Quadraphonic filth...
Incredibly helpful. Thanks for taking the time to make this!
This video is indeed a great add on to the other tutorials!!! Thnx so much. I am new to modular :D what a great new world
having breakfast & learning - excellent video mate thanks for teaching me this morning about some of the things on this piece

Wow, cannot thank you enough for this. Superb! So glad I own one of these.
Intellijel should hire you. Your videos are so awesome and helpful, even though I don't own these modules. I'm learning...

This is the best tutorial on the shapeshifter there is. It`s why i traded my Furthrrr gen. for it and i`m coming back again and again.
Shapeshifter is a special one. I’ve been meaning to make a “non music easel music easel” and no question that SS would be the complex oscillator.
Jesus, I can't thank you enough for this vid, MM.
Thank you! I have this module and now I understand it a lot more!
Great video thanks, i have just purchased one after watching this! Looking forward to getting my hands on it. Keep up the good work, very helpful!
such a great help! thanks a million! i am through the looking glass

🤷
Thank you! This module is an absolute beast.
Great overview! Thank you.

Thanks a lot Man! Great Video!

Looking forward to part 3!
Seems like a deeper Braids. Nice.
Perfect, thank you!
I sure wish that Intellijel would hire a competent tech writer to create documentation that helps newcomers. Make Noise has awesome documentation.
I watched the video by accident at 0.25 speed and bought one! Oopsie!

Yep, faceplate was updated at one point when Intellijel changed their look
+Mylar how are you patching the VCOs here? I don't see any patches.
Cool vid.
Hello, thanks for this fine demonstration. Pardon the question but how do I use a Midi Controller with this module? Through other modules? Thanks.
Please make one of these videos for Ornaments and Crime!

Shape mode is actually wt index (like in the Virus TI)
How about that mysterious "INT. SYNC" button? It seems to sync whether or not it's lit...
Can we out put simultaniusly both osc and fold?
Anyway,thank you mate :)
NOW I CAN BE MODULAR SKRILLEX

Nice use with clouds ^^ : soundcloud.com/manot-brgr/mod-1
Hmmm this or cloud terrarium

Yes bruv
Less talk more noise!
Allright Donald
@@mylarmelodies millions and millions and millions and millions of oscillators and sinusoidals waves will make techno great again!
Great quick to the point video. Bit too many profanity’s for my taste but great nevertheless
