Sawing must be treating you pretty well. Kubota doesn't give those away.

I apologize, I have been calling you Patton. I am so sorry. Is it Tyler? I feel like an idiot...not a totally unfamiliar feeling to me! :) I love this machine you bought! haha I haven't watched you expand the log yard yet. I'm hoping to learn more about the controls. Thank again!

Do you need a CDL to move that?

Tyler...congratulations on the new excavator! It looks like a beauty and you'll be able to do a lot with it. i was fortunate enough last summer to have my youngest son's excavator over at the house for several weeks. What fun it was getting to use it and seeing all the raw power it had. (not like my old JD 2010 backhoe I had a while back) I took out a lot of overgrown Canadian hemlocks around the house and deck with it as well as a bunch of other stuff and stumps that needed coming out. Once I got the hang of the machine it was great. His does not have a cab but it's heavy and I love the thumb...great for moving big landscaping rocks. I am already lining up projects for this coming summer. Looking forward to seeing more...

Great choice. A couple of my customers have Kubotas and they have been pretty much trouble free.
But getting a tree processor? That's quite a step. Obviously you have been doing research and know what you need and what will work for you. So maybe a feller- buncher is right, or maybe a full on processor. Looking forward to your decision when you get to that point.

Good to hear that. They have always been good to me and my friends that have them as well. Some sort of a head that goes on this machine I haven’t decided which route I’m going weather a processor head or just a grapple saw. I’ve got some big jobs coming up so going to see how things go first before making final decisions

@@pattonwoodworks a grapple saw would put trees on the ground faster but requires saw work on the ground. Processors are more expensive up front but have many, many more moving parts to break. So where do you spend your money? But like I said, you know your job best.
I never dealt with a tree machine that small, so I don't know whats available, but are there double grip and dangle head options available?

My original plan was a fixed rotating grapple saw and be able to just grab the tree and raise the boom and knock most of the branches off before felling the tree. Since the woods cedars I cut the branches are mainly 2” diameter or under. If I do run into bigger I can grab and rip off or cut off. Then make some sort of a log rack or measuring stick to bring with me to cut logs to length from cab.
Processor head would obviously be way more efficient but also more costly and would limited on size of trees and not be able to load and unload trailers as well. There’s pluses and minuses to each one like everything. I don’t think I’ll find anything that is going to do everything I am wanting perfectly with this size machine there’s not tons of options out there to choose from
